Brazil sack boss Dorival after Argentina defeat

After falling 4-1 to Argentina in World Cup qualifying, Brazil fired manager Dorival Junior.

Although they are still in good shape to make it to the 2026 finals, they are currently fourth in the South American group, having lost five of their 14 games.

The 62-year-old has run a number of Brazilian clubs and has been in charge of the nation since January 2024.

In his first game in charge, he won 1-0 over England at Wembley in a friendly game in March. He then won seven games, drawn six, and lost three more.

After being defeated by Argentina, who had already secured their place at the World Cup, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CFB) made his exit announcement.

Dorival’s biggest accomplishment as a manager was leading Flamengo to the 2022 Copa Libertadores, despite never playing for his country.

Jorge Jesus, the Al-Hilal coach, is viewed as the favorite for the Brazil job, according to Brazilian media.
