Neymar, the Brazil international who helped repair a damaged meniscus, had a successful operation on his left knee.
The 33-year-old has been suffering from the injury during Santos’ difficult season, where he played a crucial role in preventing the club from falling into Brazil’s top flight.
After having previously operated on Neymar for a foot fracture and his 2023 anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), Santos claimed Brazil’s national team doctor performed the arthroscopic surgery.
Neymar’s chances of being included in Brazil’s World Cup preparations for the 2026 tournament are increased by the operation.
The former Barcelona and Paris St-Germain forward hasn’t played for his country in more than two years, but he is Brazil’s top goalscorer with 79 goals in 128 games.
After playing for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal for less than eight months, Neymar made his return to Santos in January.
Through his constant knee pain, he helped Santos survive and scored five goals in their final four matches of the season.
