The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has revealed that the band will be releasing new music; however, fans will have to wait another year for their ‘best’ record

Brandon Flowers has shared that new music from The Killers is in the works. However, fans will have to wait even longer than they had expected for the new record.

The Las Vegas-based rock band last released a record in 2021, with their seventh album, Pressure Measure, which charted at Number One in the UK. But with their last UK performances taking place in August and September 2023, the group have worked out when they will next release any material together.

And frontman Brandon has said that it will be their “best” album to date. However, there will be a wait as he plans to focus on his two upcoming solo LPs before he and Dave Keuning, Ronnie Vannucci Jr and Mark Stoermer get back to releasing music.

“My best guess is that in 2027 you will get the best Killers record,” Flowers said. He went on to tell The Sun: “I have two records complete. One is almost mixed. The other will follow shortly. I’m trying to decide how this is going to work logistically.”

He explained that he had worked on his solo LPs in Nashville and explained it was a “departure” in order to keep fans on their toes. Reflecting on the delay between music from The Killers, Brandon explained: “In 2022, we finally took Imploding The Mirage on the road. It was immense and we did 90-plus gigs, in 2023 we did 65 more gigs.”

He added that in 2024, the group celebrated the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Hot Fuss, with a residency at Caesar’s Palace, as well their greatest hits album, Rebel Diamonds. But the group have been writing “here and there”.

Speaking previously, Brandon explained that the legendary rock group had decided to steer away from a synth-pop record and was back to creating rock ‘n’ roll. He said: “I did not want to commit to a whole synth-pop record, it is complex. There is a place in our hearts for this music but we are getting older.

“We thought you could make an album faster on the road, as you are working more with computers, but we did not get the gratification from it, we are now making a rock ‘n’ roll album.

“We have only been around 20 years and from when we started, rock radio is a different animal as there were fewer and fewer stations.”

Earlier this month, Brandon joined Dawes on stage to perform The Killers’ anthem, When You Were Young, and The Promised Land by Bruce Springsteen at A Concert for Altadena, organised by Dawes to raise money for victims of last year’s Eaton Fire.

The concert took place on the anniversary of the incident in order to support “long-term housing recovery and relief for families, small businesses and first responders,” who had been affected by the fire.

Brandon appeared on stage towards the end of the event to perform When You Were Young, before the entire line-up joined forces for The Promised Land.
