Bradley Walsh opened up about presenting The Chase, ahead of returning to screens alongside his son and co-star Barney Walsh for the latest series of Gladiators

Bradley Walsh has made a startling confession about The Chase, the quiz show he’s fronted since it first launched in 2009. The presenter and his son Barney are familiar faces on the television, hosting various programmes both as a duo and individually.

When quizzed by Radio Times magazine about whether they tune into each other’s shows, Bradley revealed that he hasn’t actually watched his own programme in quite some time.

He explained: “I wouldn’t imagine Barney watches The Chase, simply because of his filming schedule.

“I haven’t seen The Chase in years because I don’t finish in the studio until five o’clock.”

The 65-year-old did reveal, however, that he’s a devoted viewer of BBC’s Casualty, where Barney, 28, has portrayed Cameron Mickelthwaite since 2023.

He continued: “I’m an avid fan of Casualty and have loved the series for years. I like how the team has recently made it more cinematic.”

Responding to the same question, Barney commented: “We finish filming around 7pm, so it’s rare I’m home in time for The Chase, but when I’ve got time off and it’s on, I do watch. I love it.”

Bradley and his son initially joined forces on screen in 2019, presenting the ITV travel series Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking dad. The show has since enjoyed a further five series, with the most recent instalment airing in 2025.

Speaking recently about their collaboration, Barney told Express.co.uk: “We actually went through a list of all the things we’ve done and it’s probably about 80 to 100 crazy different activities that we’ve done over the years.

“I started when I was 19, I’m 27 now so it’s been a long time and we’ve made a lot of memories along the way, but I think there are still more things that we can do.”

When pushed about whether another series might be on the cards, he responded: “For now, we’re both focusing on different things.

“Dad and I are both very busy in our own ways but we’d love to make more in the future, but it just depends.”

What’s guaranteed is that Bradley isn’t stepping away from The Chase or its spin-off Beat The Chasers anytime soon.

Speaking previously about his staying future on the show, he told the Daily Mail: “Until people say they’ve had enough and start switching off, I’ll do it.

“We’ve had such an extraordinary time together. It’s the best job in the world.”

In the meantime, viewers can look forward to seeing the father-son partnership back in the arena for the upcoming series of Gladiators.
