In a joint interview with his son and Gladiators co-host, Barney Walsh, The Chase host Bradley Walsh “fist pumped the air”, as he disclosed a New Year’s resolution linked to his health

Bradley Walsh has admitted that achieving a personal goal he set for himself in 2026 is becoming “much harder” as he ages. The Chase host’s personal insights were revealed in a joint interview, in which he participated alongside his son, Barney Walsh, both of whom host the BBC’s Gladiators reboot, which returns to our screens tonight (January 17).

And, with 2026 well underway, the father-son duo revealed whether they had any resolutions. A seemingly eager Bradley pumped the air with his fist and confirmed that he, in fact, did, as Barney urged him to “go on”.

In 2022, reports emerged detailing how the 65-year-old had lost a remarkable amount of weight and made changes to his diet after a doctor informed him that he was at high risk of developing heart issues.

It seems that Bradley’s health continues to be on his mind, as he told Heat magazine: “I want to get slimmer and fitter. As you get older, it’s much harder, but I really want to get fitter.”

Bradley continued: “Well, I’ve been asking the Gladiators for tips, and they’re really lovely. They tell me what to eat or what to take. I’ve got myself a trainer, and I’m actually eating properly.

“Less bread, cakes, spuds, and stuff like that. I’m actually not doing too badly.”

Yet, earlier in the interview, Bradley confessed that he had “cakes, chocolate and fizzy pop” in his dressing room behind the scenes of Gladiators, as well as bags of Haribo, a snack he deemed “important”, and admitted to keeping them in his pockets.

In further comments about his health goals, when his love of Haribo was pointed out, the beloved quiz show host conceded that you “can’t give up everything” and noted the importance of “balance”.

Bradley also stressed that he wasn’t indulging in “handfuls” of sweets and only partaking in the “odd one”. In a hilarious move, however, he then held up three chocolate boxes to the camera and laughed.

Bradley being at high risk of developing heart disease is reportedly a result of his father sadly dying of the condition at the young age of 59. Meanwhile, after he reached the age of 60, Bradley explained that achieving the number felt like a “milestone.”

In 2019, he revealed to The Sun: “I had it in the back of my mind that I just had to get past my dad’s age. So, turning 60 was a bit of milestone.”

He also disclosed that he had abstained from fatty foods and alcohol in an effort to boost his health and shed the pounds, explaining how he was a “time bomb”.

Bradley added: “I was a time bomb. I produce too much cholesterol. It’s a silent killer. My heart guy said, ‘Look, Brad, you need to get fit’.”
