‘Bradley avoids sporting masochism to make Europe’s Ryder Cup harder’

Keegan Bradley’s captain’s transportation at the upcoming Ryder Cup in New York will take a golf buggy instead of a bag.

Common sense has ruled the most knowledgeable observers. The 39-year-old was warned it would be too much both to play and to lead his team from the moment he assumed the captaincy of the American team.

Yet it was a close-run operation. The skipper feels self-sacrificing for ignoring his own goals in terms of playing.

Bradley acknowledges that it hurts to not be teeing up at Bethpage for the 26-28-foot game, but it can undoubtedly inspire the players he has chosen.

They are aware that their captain has prioritized them. He has completely eradicated any notion of self-interest at once. It definitely hurts, for sure. I mean, I always wanted to compete in Ryder Cups,” Bradley told BBC Sport.

You have to quickly remind yourself of how honorable it is to captain the Ryder Cup, though. I have never had the opportunity to play for so many players who are much more worthy of my efforts.

Do team members pretend to be playing well when they actually do? Do they need to be coaxed or a few pegs removed?

Decisions must be made on the fly during ceremonies so that the tone of the entire week can be decided.

Nearly every Ryder Cup team has ever had a new playing captain, which is probably the closest we’ll ever have. In reality, Bradley was placed in a scandalous position by the PGA of America before his prodigious days were over.

Only three weeks ago, Cameron Young, a New Yorker who broke the amateur record for Bethpage Black course, won his first PGA Tour title. He was a natural choice because of his appearance and background.

Ben Griffin consistently excels, and his return to stardom as a professional athlete gives a romantic perspective that would work in the locker room.

Bradley’s side has four newcomers and is a transitional line-up that will try to capitalize on the anticipated bearish atmosphere. This will be a hostile environment for Europe, thanks to New Yorkers.

Bradley decided not to play, which is probably disappointing Donald. As a result, all 12 of their teams can concentrate solely on playing, which is likely to improve America’s coherence.
