Due to a serious illness diagnosis, Billy Porter had to reschedule his performance in Broadway’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. The actor has been confirmed to have a “serious case” of sepsis, according to producers.

The 55-year-old won’t be able to participate because he follows the doctors’ instructions because of the illness. Thankfully, the actor is recovering fully.

He will no longer serve as the Emcee because of his prior commitment to his well-being. The show needs to end its run early as a result of the announcement, which was made on Sunday.

His doctors are confident that he will recover fully, but have advised him to follow a restful schedule for the foreseeable future, according to a statement published in The New York Times.

Adam Speers, a producer for ATG Productions, also took the time to commend the actor for his efforts to date. We have made the difficult choice to end our Broadway run on September 21 with a heavy heart,” he said. We’re so happy to have been able to bring this adaptation of Cabaret, a famous work by John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Joe Masteroff to New York, and to have opened the doors to our own Kit Kat Club for the past year and a half.

Billy brought his unique passion and talent to the stage. We wish Billy a quick recovery and look forward to working with him once more in the near future.

Billy had been scheduled to participate in the 10-day run. However, due to his early departure, it will now come to an earlier time.

The final shows will feature former alternates Marty Lauter and David Merino. Sally Bowles will be played until the run is over, Marsha Wallace.

Billy’s Cabaret role was previously described as a “gift and such a blessing,” especially after being rejected when he attempted to audition for a 1998 revival.

In April 2024, Cabaret began showings on Broadway. There will be 592 regular performances by the time the run is over and 18 preview performances will be available.

Just before the scheduled performance at Manchester Pride, Billy’s health issue came just weeks after he pulled out of the role. The reason for being diagnosed was at the time.

We’re sorry to inform you that Billy Porter will not be able to perform at Mardi Gras today due to illness, according to the time’s organizers.

“We are aware that many of you anticipated their set as we did. Billy, enjoy your new life, and thank you from the Manchester Pride Team.
