BGT child singer beaten by Paul Potts has amazing job in showbiz 18 years later

Since the show first aired 18 years ago, Diversity, Collabro, and Paul Potts have become household names on Britain’s Got Talent, which has been a launch pad for many stars. However, Susan Boyle, one of the biggest success stories, won hearts in 2009 with her distinctive style and stunning voice, and went on to sell millions of albums worldwide. It’s not just the winners who find success.

Judge Amanda Holden was moved by Judge Amanda Holden’s tears when Ashleigh and her talented dog Pudsey performed Somewhere Over the Rainbow at age seven. Another young star, Bessie Cursons, performed Wouldn’t It Be Loverly from My Fair Lady in the same year, wowing the judges.

Piers Morgan predicted her future in the West End and called her “celebrity.” Cowell praised her audition as being the most professional he had ever seen. Bessie, who was born in Portsmouth, won the semi-finals of Mary Poppins and made the finals of Get Me To The Church On Time. Unfortunately, Paul Potts, an opera singer, defeated her.

Since then, Bessie has established a successful career outside of the show. She starred in the movie Nativity!, reports OK!, and she teamed up with Martin Freeman and Alan Carr for Oliver! Along with Rowan Atkinson, he served as the show’s host on CITV’s My Phone Genie.

She and S Club 7’s Hannah Spearritt collaborated on her 2016 role in Casualty. Bessie, who is now 29 years old, is hard to recognize from her early years as a child star. She has since returned to Portsmouth, where she serves as principal of The Bessie Cursons Theatre and Dance Academy. Her academy recently staged a “Celebrity Of Musicals” performance at Portsmouth’s New Theatre Royal, which the organization called “showcasing our wonderful dancers of all ages, come and enjoy an evening of entertainment, full of music, singing, and dancing.”

Bessie and Ashley Carter celebrated the birth of their daughter in December 2022 with their private wedding in July of that year.
