Aprilia won their first race of the season thanks to Italian Marco Bezzecchi’s triumph at a turbulent British Grand Prix.

The chaotic Silverstone showpiece on Sunday was flagged for spilling oil, and several riders also crashed or resigned from positions of authority.

Aprilia won the first time since the Grand Prix of the Americas last year, with Bezzecchi taking the title. Johann Zarco of LCR Honda placed second, while Marc Marquez of Ducati placed third, extending his lead over Franco Morbidelli.

Bezzecchi is the 11th individual Silverstone champion in the last 11 races, winning for the first time since the 2023 Indian Grand Prix.

It’s incredible, I thought. He said, “It has been a really difficult time for me this past month.” Aprilia and I worked really well together.

The team did a fantastic job, they said. Since my last victory, I had been anticipating a day like this.

Alex Marquez, who defeated brother Marc’s sprint dominance on Saturday, maintained his form at the Grand Prix to pass Quartararo but lost control at the first turn.

After Morbidelli and Aleix Espargaro collided, Marc also crashed out of the lead before the final sector for the oil spill.

Francesco Bagnaia also later lost the race, so Quartararo took the lead when the race resumed.
