Without the presence of protesters, Amazon tycoon Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez were set to tie the knot on Friday at a lavish ceremony on an island in Venice’s lagoon.

Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, and Orlando Bloom have all been guests at Bezos’ wedding, which was co-hosted by the former news anchor and entertainment reporter.
The Aman hotel, a prestigious 16th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal with a view of the Rialto bridge, is where the tech magnate, 61, and Sanchez, 55, are staying.
Later on Friday, according to Italian media reports, they will exchange vows at a black-tie ceremony on San Giorgio Maggiore island.

The wedding dinner will be prepared by Michelin-starred chef Fabrizio Mellino, according to the Corriere della Sera, while Cedric Grolet, a French pastry chef, will make the cake.
Sanchez is alleged to have created 27 outfits for the occasion.
Dolce &, Gabbana, the other half of the duo Dolce &, was seen leaving the Aman hotel on Thursday, possibly following a fitting.
‘Enchanted’
Ivanka Trump, the daughter of US President Donald Trump, US football player Tom Brady, American fashion designer Spencer Antle, singer Usher, and Jordan’s Queen Rania were among the wedding guests who were photographed by paparazzi as they entered the boats.
On the island of San Giovanni Evangelista, the guests reportedly had lunch together on Thursday in Villa Baslini’s gardens.
The celebrations are scheduled to end on Saturday with a party at the Arsenale, a massive shipyard complex that dates back to the days of the city’s naval powerhouse.
According to Veneto’s regional president Luca Zaia, Bezos and Sanchez are donating three million euros ($3.5 million) to the city and employing eminently Venetian artisans.
Rosa Salva, Venice’s oldest pastry chef, will make 19th-century “fishermen’s biscuits” for party favors, which will also include something from Laguna B, a company known for its handcrafted Murano glass.

According to the owner, Trump and her family went to a glass-blowing workshop on Murano on Wednesday.
According to Massimiliano Schiavon, who added that the family had tried blowing their own, “They were amazed and enchanted by the magic of glass.”
Venice, the world’s oldest film festival, is famous for its VIPs who whizz around in speed boats during the star-studded nuptials of George Clooney in 2014.
Some residents claim that this wedding will generate good business, but critics claim that Bezos, one of the richest men in the world and the founder of a business that is regularly scrutinized for how its employees are treated, is different.
The mega yachts and dozens of private jets, at least 95, that bring the wealthy and famous to the canal city have also attracted the attention of environmental activists.
