Joyce Temple-Savage, the popular ITV actress who played Solana Hotel, was portrayed by Shannon Hewson in the popular ITV sitcom, where she claimed she is “asked about it every day” and that she “does it a lot”

Sherrie Hewson has dropped a massive hint about the possible return of Benidorm, as she disclosed that people “miss it desperately”. Sherrie, who played Solana Hotel manager Joyce Temple-Savage in six series of the beloved ITV series, said Benidorm remains “so popular”, despite it coming to an end in 2018 after 10 series and 74 episodes.

Featuring an ensemble cast that included such names as Johnny Vegas (Geoff Maltby), Jake Canuso (Mateo), and Steve Pemberton (Mick Garvey), the series showcased the exploits of British holidaymakers at an all-inclusive Benidorm hotel.

Meanwhile, Sherrie is “thankful” for her time on the show, but appears eager for it to return. Indeed, she noted that fans feel the same way, and she gets “asked about it every day”.

In a recent interview, Sherrie expressed her love for her character, Joyce, whom she claimed was written with her “in mind”. She also addressed a potential return of the show, tantalisingly referring to a “green light”.

We’re holding our fingers for the green light, Sherrie told Bella magazine. It continues to be so well-liked. Every single day throughout my life, I’m asked about it. People complain fervently about it.

You can tell how much you love it because it’s constantly available on streaming channels. A new series is something we could all use. Joyce is my favorite. I had a wonderful role, and I’m so happy and grateful.

She was written with me in mind, which is very endearing because she can sometimes be nasty but always seems to get things wrong. “

It wouldn’t be the first time that Sherrie has addressed a possible return of the show in the future, though. In October 2025, Sherrie told The Mirror that they were all “campaigning for it to come back”.

She continued, “We are sincerely hoping it will return because we will have access to Benidorm.” Joyce Temple-Savage is a wonderful character. That was one of the best characters I’ve ever played, according to Darren Litten’s writing.

“I’d really like to go back.” Watch this space, we’ll see. It needs to return to ITV because there isn’t currently a comedy on the program. I’m awaiting confirmation, and I’d board the plane today. “

In comments about older TV viewers, Sherrie claimed that they were treated like “coffin dodgers”. It came as a report called The Upper Third, which found that more than a quarter of fans reportedly felt forgotten by producers.

Sherrie, who was questioned about the campaign, claimed that contemporary television “chases the young” and disregards the “rest” and called it “long overdue.” She continued, highlighting an ostensible lack of representation in advertisements.
