Rumours emerged back in April that the show could be getting a reboot but this is yet to be confirmed. However, rumours are back once again as actress Sherrie Hewson, who played Joyce Temple-Savage in the series, posted the picture of the group.
She smiled from ear to ear as she sat with creator of the show Derren Little, Jake Canuso, who played bar man Mateo and Danny Walters, who was Tiger Dyke.
Sherrie didn’t give anything away thought as she wrote alongside the photo: “The Team.” Fans instantly took to the comment section underneath to share their excitement.
One person said: “Don’t tease. Is it a sign?” While another wrote: “This is why we need Benidorm back and NOW.” Another added: This picture has put a smile on my face,” as a fourth asked: “Any mention of a New series of Benidorm in the meet up?”
Viewers are still hoping that Benidorm will be back again one say as The Sun previously reported that ITV bosses were in talks to reboot the show earlier this year.
A TV insider told the publication: “Benidorm was adored by millions when it was suddenly cancelled. Fans will be thrilled to hear ITV wants to bring it back.
“An 11th series hasn’t been commissioned yet, but there’s major excitement building as early talks begin. Producers have started to reach out to the show’s stars and are hopefully a decision can be made later this year.”
Benidorm was axed from out TVs in May 2018 after 11 years on our screens. Announcing the news on social media that it had come to an end, Derren said: “Crazy to think Wednesday will be the last episode of Benidorm!
“I created the series over 11 years ago, wrote it, guest starred in it and ended up directing it. It’s difficult to think what else there is to do! Thank you for watching!”
A source said at the time: “Benidorm has been a huge success for ITV for a decade, but bosses feel it’s run its course.
“The ratings have started to drop off and a number of the fan favourites have left, so it just feels as though the time is right to let it go out while it’s still on a high. It has been ITV’s longest running comedy, which is a real achievement.”
