The brunette, who will star in Love Island: All Stars next week, admitted that they’ve tried to keep their relationship platonic – but can’t help but flirt every now and again

Belle Hassan has confessed to exchanging flirty late-night texts with fellow islander Joe Garratt, just days before entering the Love Island: All Stars villa. Belle said she’d love to see Joe, who appeared on her series back in 2019, because he’s her “safety blanket”. The brunette also admitted that they’ve tried to keep their relationship platonic – but can’t help but flirt every now and again.

She told The Mirror: “I’d love to see Joe Garratt in there. He’s my best friend. Everyone keeps questioning if anything has happened, I’m like no. But I’d love to see him because he is my safety blanket and I love him so much.”

Belle continued: “Everyone always asks if we’ve ever explored it, but the thing is, he has always been in a relationship when I’m single, and when he’s single, I’ve been in a relationship, so we’ve never been single at the same time.

“This is the only time we’ve been single at the same time. I’m like, ‘Stay away from me! I don’t want to ruin this’. I can’t help but flirt, and neither can he. We flirt after 10pm on the phone. We have a rule – no flirting before 10!”

Earlier this week, Belle’s famous dad, Tamer Hassan, commented on how “proud” he was of his daughter, joking that he’d be “watching” at all times.

Belle admitted boys can be intimidated by the Football Factory star, but they’ve got nothing to worry about. She laughed: “When I’m single, dad is like ‘For god’s sake’. He hates it. He rings me asking where I am, asking what’s going on. He wants me married off! Boys do get a bit intimated but he’s a big loving bear. He’s hard on the outside, soft on the inside.”

Back in 2019, Joe found love with his now-ex Lucie Donlan on the show, whilst Belle was coupled up with Anton Danyluk. Joe returned to the villa for the All Stars Series in 2024, but the hunk was dumped from the villa in a brutal twist.

Speaking in an interview after his exit, Joe spoke about being dumped and his decision behind picking Arabella at the latest recoupling when viewers had expected him to pick Molly Smith. Joe joined as a bombshell and it wasn’t long until his history with Molly was revealed, where he even picked her for a kiss during a racy game of dares.

When it came to the recoupling, viewers had expected Joe to pick Molly but instead he picked Arabella, who had expressed her interest earlier in the episode. Talking about his decision and his favourite show memory, Joe said: “The recoupling when I chose Arabella because all day I alluded that I might choose elsewhere and ruffle some feathers but I’ll never spoil love.

“I’d rather watch love blossom than steal it, but it was fun to see the boys sweat a little over my decision.” Elsewhere, talking about his exit, he added: “I was there for a short period of time but I guess it just just happened to be my time.”
