Matt Beard, a former Liverpool manager, will take over as head coach for the third-tier of Burnley women.
Since being fired by Liverpool in February, Beard hasn’t played football for the club. Instead, he will oversee Burnley’s transition to full professional football next year.
The former Chelsea manager has won back-to-back Women’s Super League titles for Liverpool in 2013 and 2014 with the help of his successful coaching career.
The 47-year-old won the Women’s Championship title in 2022 after making a second appearance at the Merseyside club.
Prior to taking over as manager of Bristol City, he had previous stints with Boston Breakers and West Ham, as well as at the national women’s soccer league.
