Former Ground Force presenter Charlie Dimmock has been a regular on BBC’s Garden Rescue since 2016 and has trained as a TV gardening expert for more than 30 years.

Charlie Dimmock, a TV personality, first appeared on television in 2016 as a member of the BBC’s Garden Rescue team, but she’s been a household name since then.

The 59-year-old made her memorable BBC outdoor makeover show, Ground Force, where she remained until its final episode in 2005. She made her memorable debut over 20 years ago as a gardener.

After taking over The Joy of Gardening, Charlie presented her own television series, Charlie’s Garden Army, which only aired for one season. She then appeared on BBC Two’s Great British Garden Revival until 2015 alongside some of the country’s most renowned gardeners.

Charlie and a team of top designers travel across the country and compete to build the UK’s most beautiful gardens, and she can now be seen regularly presenting Garden Rescue.

Here is a look at the TV star’s transformation over the years because she has been a long-standing fan favorite in the UK.

The gardening expert and television presenter burst onto our screens on Ground Force, alongside Alan Titchmarsh and Tommy Walsh which ran between 1997 and 2005, reports the Express.

When Charlie split from her long-term partner, John Mushet, in 2001 after having an affair with microphone operator, Andy Simmons, the show attained a shocking scandal.

Just last year, Charlie has said she had “no regrets” about her shock affair with a co-star during her time on Ground Force, she has also opened up about a family tragedy that shook her to her core.

In 2002, Charlie previously made an admission that she “doesn’t see Andy anymore” when she admitted to doing so. She continued, “But I don’t regret what happened.”

If you kept worrying about what might go wrong, you wouldn’t do anything, she said. When we broke up, I rely heavily on family and close friends because John and I had been together for a long time. Finding a new relationship is the most challenging outcome of the breakup, in my opinion.

After that, Charlie started dating sound technician Barry Smith, who also worked on the program. Charlie experienced heartache a few years after the split when her mother and stepfather died during the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.

When the tsunami struck, they were on vacation in Phuket, Thailand. Although Charlie’s agent stated in a statement that the tragedy was “very upsetting for her,” Charlie did not at the time mention it. She has already had enough of it already. She is currently coping day by day. We have promised to keep her safe.

Charlie rejected any work for two years after the tragedy, according to The Daily Mail. Since moving on, Charlie’s career has expanded beyond just gardening, including a brief performance in the 2010 touring production of Calendar Girls.

She has since joined garden designers The Rich Brothers and returned to our screens on the BBC Makeover show Garden Rescue, where she competes to create stunning outdoor spaces for homeowners all over the country.
