With 19 minutes left, Gladbach’s Jens Castrop sank his studs into Luis Diaz’s shin, receiving a red card after a VAR review.

Bayern struggled against their last-placed opponents despite the one-man advantage. They made six changes, with Jonas Urbig making his debut in goal.

After 64 minutes, Kimmich led the visitors by blasting through a crowded penalty box, and Guerreiro added another five minutes later by sweeping in to seal a lovely team move.

With 15 minutes left, Kevin Stoeger’s penalty hit at the post further stifled Gladbach’s chances of winning.

Karl, 17, hit a stunning curling strike to cap the defending champions with nine minutes left.

With six different goal scorers, RB Leipzig tightened their hold on second place, four points clear of third-placed Stuttgart, with a 6-0 victory at Augsburg.

Assan Ouedraogo, Castello Lukeba, Christoph Baumgartner, Yan Diomande, Romulo, Antonio Nusa, Christoph Baumgartner, Assan Ouedraogo, and Castello Diomande scored in Leipzig’s most humiliating home defeat in league history.

Leipzig have only conceded three goals in their first seven games, including the 6-0 defeat to Bayern in the season opener, and have now scored 19 of the possible 21 points.

With a double from Jonathan Burkardt, Eintracht Frankfurt rallied from Liverpool’s 5-1 Champions League loss to defeat St Pauli 2-0 at home.

Burkhardt, a striker for Germany who also scored twice against Freiburg last week, has six goals in seven league games so far this year.

In another game, Wolfsburg defeated Hamburg 1-0 for their first victory since August, with only one goal scored by Adam Daghim.

Ransford-Yeboah Koenigsdoerffer, a winger from Hamburg, missed a penalty for the third time in a row from the penalty spot.

Heidenheim defeated Hoffenheim 3-1.

Borussia Dortmund can move up to third place if they defeat Cologne in Saturday’s late game.
