Barry Manilow has urged fans to “say goodbye” after his cancer diagnosis. The legendary musician, 82, announced last month that he was undergoing surgery after being diagnosed with lung cancer.
At the time of his announcement, he explained that he was having to postpone several live performances on his The Last Last Concert tour in order to have surgery, as well as recover. But now, Barry’s management team have confirmed he will once again be performing soon.
In a statement shared on Instagram, they revealed he has added six additional dates to his existing schedule. They said: “Years from now, when you look back on these dates, you’ll want to know you were there to say goodbye.”
They said on the photo-sharing platform: “Surprise! Barry is feeling great… So great that he’s decided to add six additional concerts to his existing March schedule. Barry will now visit Charlotte, Norfolk, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Nashville, and Lexington this March!
“The Fan Club Pre-Sale begins Tuesday, January 13th at 10AM PT.” But despite fans being excited by the news, some had their concerns, with one writing in the comments: “Isn’t it too soon for Barry? He just had surgery, and I think he needs time to fully recover. Oh well.. Wishing Barry all the best.”

“I’m worried that you’re already doing shows so soon after your surgery. I couldn’t care less that your fans in the United States (I live in Argentina) hate me for telling you to prioritise your health,” said a second. However, others were overjoyed with the news that Barry was making a swift recovery, with one penning: “Yep. Iron man.”
“I’m so excited you are coming to Norfolk,” typed a second. While a third went on to say: “So thrilled to see you coming to Baltimore, MD and just in time for my 65th Birthday.” Barry’s exciting news comes just days after he shared an update with fans while appearing to lie in his hospital bed.
Sharing a selfie which he sent to somebody as a text message, Barry was smiling as he lay back. His post was captioned: “Better today!”

Last month, Barry shared the news of his diagnosis, which came after a period of ill health, including a battle with bronchitis. At the time, he told fans: “As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks.
“Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK.
“The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that is was found so early. That’s the good news. The bad news is that now that the Christmas Gift Of Love concerts are over I’m going into surgery to have the spot removed. The doctors do not believe it has spread and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis.”
He added: “So that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.” He added further: “The only follow-up is a month to recover and that means we have to reschedule the January arena concerts. I’m very sorry that you have to change your plans. Just like you, we were all looking forward to the January shows and hate having to move everything around.”
Barry’s The Last Last Concerts Tour is due to kick off on February 27 at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida, before concluding on June 17 at London’s O2 Arena.
