After the cricket board reiterated its request to move matches from India to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh’s place in the T20 World Cup is in jeopardy.

In light of rising tensions between the two countries, Bangladesh requested that their games be switched to India, and instead demanded that they be played in Sri Lanka, which is co-hosting the tournament.

Bangladesh’s request was turned down by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which argued there was no “credible security threat” on Wednesday.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board received a 24-hour window to speak with its government and make a decision.

“We have a plan to play in Sri Lanka and return to the ICC.”

A global body cannot really fulfill that promise, despite the fact that they did give us a 24-hour ultimatum. 200 million spectators of the World Cup will not be able to attend. They will lose, “

If Bangladesh is replaced by the ICC, Scotland, as the highest-ranked nation that did not earn a clear spot in the World Cup, could receive a late start.

The T20 World Cup, which India and Sri Lanka co-host, takes place on March 7 through 8 respectively.

Bangladesh will play three of their four group games in Kolkata, including one against England on February 14 and the other in Mumbai.

Asif Nazrul, a consultant for youth and sports issues in Bangladesh’s interim government, said, “There is no scope for changing our decision.”

The risk of putting players, fans, and journalists in a risky regional political situation is something that should be balanced against.
