Second Test, Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur (day four of five).
Bangladesh 476 (Das 128, Mushfiqur 106, McBrine 6-109) &, 297-4 (Mominul 87, Shadman 78, Hoey 2-84)
Ireland 265 (Tucker 75, Neill 49, Doheny 46, Taijul 4-76) &, 176-6 (Tector 50, Campher 34*, Taijul 3-55)
With only four wickets left, Ireland needs 333 more runs to win.
As Ireland advanced to the fifth day of their second Test in Mirpur, Harry Tector scored a half-century.
With only four wickets needed for the hosts and 333 more runs needed for Ireland, a victory for Bangladesh still seems likely.
After a 5. 7 magnitude earthquake in Bangladesh’s capital city, which temporarily caused the fourth day to go by itself, the third day of action was temporarily suspended.
Bangladesh, who had a 508-run lead when captain Najmul Hossain Shanto declared their innings overdue with a 297-4 victory, built on their successful start to the series.
With only 13 and 9 runs in their eighth over, openers Andrew Balbirnie and Paul Stirling were out for Ireland.
Curtis Campher and Tector kept the innings steady as Heinrich Mallan’s men made their fifth Test half-century.
Campher held his ground and completed the gap by going 34 without Andy McBrine, who was 11th behind him.
The game will return on Sunday at 3:30 GMT.
By an innings and 47 runs, Bangladesh won the first of the two-match series.
