Bandits Kill Three, Steal 1,000 Cows In Fresh Niger Attacks

In a fresh wave of violence, armored bandits attacked the Magama Local Government Area of Niger State, killing three people and rustling over one thousand cows.

The incident, which broke out around 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 30, spread throughout the communities of Ibeto, Salka, and Koso, and was still ongoing at the time of filing this report.

A resident claimed that the bandits planned to take over the Kura community later in the evening when they spoke to Channels Television over the phone.

As the attackers continued their rampage, many villagers fled into the bush for safety, according to him, while others locked themselves inside.

According to the source, “The bandits are currently moving toward Magaman Daji community, and they are reportedly going into Zamfara State after their operation.”

The eyewitness further urged the state and federal governments to urgently send more security personnel to the area, noting that Kontagora is the city’s closest Army base.

SP Wasiu Abiodun, the public relations officer for Niger State Police Command, was unable to pick up calls when requested for confirmation.

The bandits’ operations are still ongoing as of right now.
