Bandits Attack NSCDC Checkpoint In Niger State

Niger State Command’s Niger State Command, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, confirmed an attack on its checkpoint along the Wawa–Babanla Road in the Borgu Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Monday, December 22, 2025, between 12:28 and 1:00 a.m., according to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Abubakar Muti.

A group of heavily armed bandits stormed the checkpoint and opened fire on officers who were on duty, according to the statement. The personnel evaded the scene without incident and quickly departed.

However, the attackers removed one G3 rifle from the officers’ possessions, vandalized a functioning Hilux vehicle, and took their personal belongings.

The 221 Armoured Brigade Barracks is located approximately nine kilometers from the checkpoint and three kilometers from Wawa town.

No casualties were reported during the attack, according to DSC Muti.

He continued, noting that the NSCDC is currently working with other security organizations to find the perpetrators and restore peace and security there.
