Tottenham Hotspur coach Ryan Mason is being considered for managerial positions by West Bromwich Albion.

Tony Mowbray was fired in April, but an ex-England midfielder, who works for Ange Postecoglou at Spurs, is now the Championship club’s first-choice replacement, according to multiple sources.

Mason’s acceptance of his first managerial position is well-understood and the discussions are continuing.

There are unlikely to be lengthy discussions over Mason’s release since his Spurs contract expires at the end of June, despite Tottenham being aware of the Baggies’ interest.

The Hawthorns might be accompanied by members of the Spurs coaching staff.

After sustaining a skull fracture in a 2017 game against Chelsea defender Gary Cahill, which required the Tottenham academy graduate to undergo emergency surgery, Mason was forced to retire from professional football at the age of 26 on medical advice.

He became interim first-team manager following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal in 2021 after playing a significant role in the club’s academy before taking over as coach for Tottenham in April 2018.
