BAFTA presenter Adam Pearson has furiously hit back at an online troll who mocked him over his appearance.
The 40-year-old actor stars in the psychological dark comedy film A Different Man – which sees Marvel actor Sebastian Stan playing a character named Edward who undergoes surgery to remove his neurofibromatosis condition which caused large cysts to form across his face, then has an identity crisis as a consequence. Adam has the condition himself and has worked for outreach programmes to prevent bullying associated with the deformities that can appear due to neurofibromatosis.
On Sunday night, the best and brightest of film and music will come together as part of the 2025 BAFTA awards ceremony, which will take place in London’s Royal Festival Hall. Adam has been called as a presenter for one of the awards – as has 27-year-old American-Cuban singer Camila Cabello. Their movie, A Different Man, is also nominated
With the awards just hours away, details have emerged about the ceremony, with photographs of the 2025 event seating plan being shared online. However, an X user known as FlopHive viciously targeted Adam, sharing a snap of the seating plan showing placed next to Camila and they wrote: “This is genuinely so scary, I would not attend the event if I were Camila.”

Taking note of the cruel comment, Adam hit back, writing: “Luckily for everyone you’re not Camila and – most importantly – weren’t invited. So from me, Adam Pearson, directly to you @FlopHive – take your nonsense opinions elsewhere as I have EXACTLY zero time for your anonymous, ableist nonsense.”
The star was applauded by other X users, with one writing in response: “Legend… we want that picture with Camila!” alongside a saluting face emoji. And another wrote: “Have a fantastic time, Adam! My Spidey Senses tell me Flop won’t have much going on that night.”
The troll account then offered an apology to the actor, writing in reply: “I made my tweet trying to be funny & it wasn’t. I forget that my tweets can actually affect people & even tho you’re famous, you still see comments like those. I deeply apologize & have deleted my tweet. I’ll take the deserved backlash.” She then set her account as private.
A Different Man has been featured among a string of glittering award shows – with Sebastian Stan scooping the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for his role at the 2025 Golden Globe awards last month. The film is also nominated at the Oscars in the Best Makeup and Hairstyling category.
The film failed to be nominated for any of the British Academy Film Awards categories. While the event focuses on film, Take That will be performing at the ceremony to belt out their chart-topping hit Greatest Day which features in the BAFTA-nominated film Anora. And Jeff Goldblum will also take to the stage to perform, as he has been booked to play a piano number In Memoriam in a moving tribute to stars that have died over the past year.
