Search for survivors after Russian drone and missile barrage hits Kyiv

At least five people were killed and others were hurt in a Russian airstrike in Kyiv, according to Ukraine’s emergency services.

In a number of Kyiv districts early on Monday, drones and missiles struck residential areas, hospitals, and sporting facilities, according to officials.

The Shevchenkivskyi district, where a five-storey block of apartments collapsed, suffered the most serious damage.

A pregnant woman was among the five confirmed fatalities in the building attack, while another ten others, including a woman, were saved from a nearby tower block that also suffered significant damage.

In another Ukrainian city, which is located 85 kilometers (53 miles) southwest of the capital, eight people were killed and eight injured.

Rudiger complained of racist incident – Alonso

Antonio Rudiger, who Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso claims he was racially racially abused during their club world cup victory over Mexican side Pachuca, is the subject of a complaint from Real Madrid manager.

Rudiger and Pachuca captain Gustavo Cabral argued in stoppage time after claiming he had been fouled.

Ramon Abatti Abel, a referee, crossed his arms in front of Rudiger to let him know that Fifa’s anti-racism protocol had been activated.

Cabral claimed Rudiger had used an expletive and called him a “coward,” but he denied racially abusing him.

If a match is stopped, suspended, or abandoned if the issue persists, Fifa’s three-step system for racism applies.

Alonso responded, “Toni has informed us about something,” and asked if Rudiger had received a racist insult.

“We must wait and see now,” he said. I believe the Fifa investigation protocol has been activated.

However, if something did occur, we would support Antonio because this is unacceptable.

There is no tolerance for this in football, and whenever it occurs, steps must be taken.

Antonio has said, “We believe him, and that’s what he’s telling us.”

Cabral remarked, “It was a fight. We scuffled. He claimed that I struck him with my hand, and the referee immediately raised the racism sign, but I continued to tell him the same thing throughout the entire incident.

In a press conference held following the game, Pachuca head coach Jaime Lozano stated, “I haven’t spoken to Cabral about this.

Because this is the first time I’ve heard of this news, I can’t explain it to you.

It is “unjustifiable at all,” he said. I’ve known him for a while, but I’ve never heard of anything similar happening to Pachuca players.

I’ll talk to my captain about it with him, but I can’t at all.

Fifa has contacted BBC Sport for comment.

Nothing ever really changes “after anti-discrimination campaigns in football, but he will” fight “against racist abuse,” Rudiger, who was then at Chelsea, said in 2021.

Zuru Attack: Kebbi Govt Tackles Ex-AGF, Malami Over ‘Exaggerated’ Casualty Claims

Abubakar Malami, SAN, a former minister of justice and attorney-general of the Federation, claimed he had infected the Kebbi State government with political sentiments in sensitive security matters.

The state government has disputed Malami’s claim that 200 people were killed in a recent bandit attack in Zuru Emirate as exaggerated and politically motivated.

However, Yakubu Ahmad, the commissioner for information and culture, and Yahaya Sarki, the governor’s representative for media and publicity, both made separate statements, calling Malami’s claims “mischievous and laced with falsehood” and trying to win cheap political support.

“Malami’s sudden concern for Zuru makes me feel bittersweet to swallow.” He served as the attorney general under (ancient) President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to 2023 in one of Nigeria’s most powerful positions. There was no mention of him visiting or even sending a letter of condolence during that time, as Zuru and other parts of Kebbi experienced repeated bandit attacks.

The Commissioner for Information said, “Now, he appears to be playing politics with security, exaggerating figures for effect.”

Hussaini Aliyu Bena, the head of the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, explained the details of the incident and said that bandits had allegedly attacked the area from nearby Zamfara State, rustling cattle.

According to Bena, “The bandits first invaded Seme village, where they stole cattle, and then traveled to Kyebu for the same reason.”

They also snatched food from traders’ stores and broke into them, besides rustling cattle. The bandits shot and killed six people in Seme village, eight more in Yar Kuka village, and burned ten homes as they crossed the border to return to their camp.

In the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, 14 people were killed overall. According to information obtained from Tadurga, a neighboring town in the local government area, the attackers also killed 16 more residents while fleeing, rustling cattle, and looting shops.

In the coordinated attack, 30 people died, according to Bena, with an undetermined number of cattle stolen.

Last week, Malami expressed deep concern about the deteriorating security conditions in Kebbi State’s Argungu and Zuru Emirates.

Malami criticized the government’s inability to safeguard lives and property in a short video that was released in Birnin Kebbi.

I wonder why, let alone the state and local governments, the federal government is not protecting the lives and property of its citizens.

Alt-J fans finally find out what band’s name means after nearly two decades

Alt-J have been producing music for almost 20 years and have won numerous awards, but some fans are just beginning to understand the meaning behind their distinctive band name.

Many Alt-J fans are unsure of the meaning behind the band’s name despite the fact that many have long been playing their songs. The indie rockers, which were formed in 2007 and include Gwil Sainsbury, Thom Sonny Green, and Gus Unger-Hamilton, have made waves in the music industry.

Their first album, ‘An Awesome Wave’, scooped up the prestigious 2012 British Mercury Prize, catapulting them into stardom across Europe and the States. Hits like ‘Fitzpleasure’, ‘Deadcrush’, ‘Something Good’, ‘Breezeblocks’, ‘Tessellate’, ‘Taro’, and ‘Interlude II’ have become anthems for many, but the origin of their enigmatic name has left some fans on Reddit utterly gobsmacked upon discovery.

The truth is, Alt-J’s real moniker is the delta symbol ∆, a nod to change in mathematical terms. Mac users can replicate this by hitting Alt-J on their keyboards.

The odd origin of their name was revealed to FMQB by Gus Unger-Hamilton: “Gwil discovered the alt-J shortcut on his computer, which creates the “delta” symbol, and he suggested we use the delta symbol, which is a triangle in Greek alphabet,”

You must really give your band a name that is spoken rather than just written, he continued, “But we chose to pronounce it alt-J because we knew that being played on the radio.”

It was going to be written like a triangle or a delta and then “alt-J.” The band’s logo still serves as a sort of masthead, though.

After realizing that the indie band Alt-J () was named after the command to create a delta sign on a Mac computer, a Reddit user commented, “This day I learned that the band’s name was Alt-J () was named after the command to make a delta sign with a Mac computer.

Another joke about keyboard layouts was made fun of: “On the Danish keyboard layout, they should be called Alt-k. Alt-j creates an arrow, not the delta sign.

One fan said, “I really like Alt-J, and I’m excited for the Leeds-based outfit. I’m so excited for their upcoming album, and I love both of them. Although it’s still early to say, 3WW might be my favorite of theirs (it was Taro and Nara before that).

One of their two pence was added, “I remember when Alt J was first big that they were always getting better than Radiohead, because they started out making a better album than Radiohead did.”

Anyway, I believe they are pretty good, but I’m not really a fan of their debut album, which is fantastic. Although their lead single and their second album bothered me, which is their next album, my expectations are not very high (I’d love to be pleasantly surprised though).

Finally, a third user expressed gush over the band’s first major album, “I love Alt-J!” one of my absolute favorites. My favorite band’s debut album, An Awesome Wave, is a work of art from beginning to end. The stronger songs on This Is All Yours, namely “Nara” and “Interior,” are fantastic, in my opinion, but there is some filler there.

Manchester City thump Al Ain 6-0 at Club World Cup

Manchester City’s rout of Al Ain, despite the English club winning passage to the knockout stages of the Club World Cup, left manager Pep Guardiola with a small sense of disappointment.

At Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday, City comfortably defeated the Emiratis 6 0 0 and drew level with Juventus in Group G in terms of points and goal difference.

In their final group match on Thursday, City will face Juventus to decide who will win and who will finish second.

Juventus take advantage of the second tiebreaker after points differential for teams equal to points to take the lead. In contrast to City’s eight goals, Juve have nine.

The top team from Group G will face Red Bull Salzburg, the second-placed team from Group H, in the round of 16. Real Madrid, the top team, is currently 15-time European champions, and the runners-up will take on them.

In the other Group G game, Juventus defeated Wydad 4-1.

As City look to bounce back from a disappointing season, new signing Rayan Cherki added one close to full-time and scored on a penalty with Claudio Echeverri and Oscar Bobb.

After beating Morocco’s Wydad 2-0 in the group opener, Man City put together a dominating performance in Atlanta against an overmatched United Arab Emirates team.

Guardiola claimed that his team “pushed and pushed to score another goal, but they ultimately fell short.

Rodri, a star forward for City, is making his gradual recovery from an ACL injury.

Rodri’s return was described as “he cannot play more than 30 minutes.” He still struggles a little in the duels and needs to be a little stronger, but that’s normal.

He played a lot, lot better than he did in the previous game, they say. We are deeply indebted to him. The world’s best player would be missed by any team.
