Beth Potter, who was forced to settle for third place in the overall standings, and Lisa Tertsch won the world triathlon title for the first time.

With an average of one hour 56 minutes and 50 seconds, Tertsch won gold at the World Triathlon Championship finals in Wollongong, Australia.

The 26-year-old German surpassed Bianca Seregni in terms of time, finishing 14 seconds ahead of Emma Lombardi in France.

Tertsch won the contest, scoring 1,250 points, which moved her overall total to 3886.26, beating French champion Cassandre Beaugrand (3577.04) and Potter (3313.18), who are both now in the lead.

After winning the 2023 medal, Olympic bronze medalist Potter was vying to reclaim the title, but he could only finish 16th overall in the final competition.

Before the start of the competition, the 33-year-old Scot was joint leader with Beaugrand, but Tertsch, who was fourth, put together a strong performance to win.

In hot and blustery conditions, Beaugrand lost ground early in the 10-kilometer run, and Potter’s failure to keep pace with the lead pack gave Tertsch the opportunity to break out as she ran well on a steep course.

Australian Matt Hauser won gold in the men’s event in a time of 1:42:42 to claim his first world title. It was a strong year for the Australian.

Iconic Bollywood romance marks 30 years of nonstop run at Mumbai theatre

A Mumbai theater is celebrating 30 years of the longest-running Bollywood romance in the country.

The Bravehearted Will Take the Bride, a movie that stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, will be screened at the Maratha Mandir Theatre in Mumbai, India’s financial capital, on Monday.

Since its release on October 20, 1995, the movie, which is well-known as DDLJ, redefined contemporary Hindi romance and continues to draw hundreds of moviegoers to its morning screenings.

As he purchased a ticket for 40 rupees ($0), Mohammad Shakir, 60, told the AFP news agency, “I have seen it about 30 times… and I will continue to watch it.” 45).

The cinema’s director, Manoj Desai, told AFP that the majority of weekday crowds are young couples and university students.

You will still see around 500 people on Sundays, Desai predicted.

Value clash

The movie centers on the contrast between the more liberal values of second-generation Indians abroad and the conservative values of their parents, which far outweighs the five-year run of the 1975 action-thriller Sholay (Embers) at another Mumbai theater.

During the climax, when the heroine runs alongside a moving train into her lover’s arms, Desai said it was common for viewers to yell out in awe and applause.

Desai remarked, “This is the goosebumps moment.” The father told his daughter to leave because she wouldn’t find a better life partner. ”

Even those who weren’t born when it was released, the message is still relevant to younger viewers.

We frequently witness transactional relationships in today’s generation, according to Omkar Saraf, 23. The hero, however, transcends all barriers in this movie to win his unconditional love.

The big screen gives us goosebumps, even though we have seen it on television and on our mobile devices. ”

Cultural monument

According to Desai, one devoted fan of the film has been showing it for 20 years, while others have seen it as a component of their own love stories.

Before inviting Desai to their wedding, one couple watched it while they were dating. They traveled abroad to see the movie on their honeymoon and then returned to see the movie, Desai said.

The film’s scheduled 2015 screenings were almost ended due to fan protests, according to the Hindustan Times newspaper.

In a nation where traditional values are still at odds with modern values, film critic Baradwaj Rangan claimed the movie had enduring appeal.

According to Rangan, it “perfectly captures” the tension between two generations and reflects a certain aspect of Indian culture, which is why it is still loved.

Katsina Govt, YOWICAN Empower 600 Youth, Widows, Others With Grant

Phase Two of its 600 youth empowerment program has been kicking off with the help of the Katsina State Government and the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria Youth Wing (YOWICAN).

300 beneficiaries received SMEs grants at the Katsina State Secretariat Conference Hall on Saturday, while others, including students, farmers, widows, orphans, and underprivileged people, received one-term scholarships, grants, and cash assistance.

Abubakar Tsanni, the Special Adviser to Governor Dikko Radda on Youth Development, urged the youths to use the opportunities that are available to them to become self-employed instead of relying on government jobs.

He claimed that the government could support people who want to learn something so they can work as independent contractors.

Praise Isaiah, the YOWICAN chairman, stated that the program aims to empower youths to stop social vices and protect the state.

He pointed out that the program intends to empower 1, 000 youths in 26 of the 34 LGAs, which are Christian-dominated regions.

Yahaya Lugga, the project’s technical coordinator, stated that the project aims to empower young people to promote good governance at the local government level.

LGA representatives were given the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully implement the YALD Project by the training, which gave them the opportunity to network and exchange best practices.

Bello, a youth development expert, presented a paper titled Building Youth Power: Advocacy & Community Organizing For Development in Katsina State during the training.

Final nail in the coffin for Prince Andrew that dashes any hope of return to royal life

Prince Andrew has announced that he will no longer use his royal titles. However, could it be too late to change the public’s opinion of King Charles’s infamous brother?

Prince Andrew hasn’t been a royal in operation for nearly six years. The late Queen Elizabeth’s favorite son, and consequently the entire Royal Family, has suffered for too long from allegations of sexual assault, inappropriately close relationships with convicted sex offenders, and alleged spies.

In infamous remarks that he found himself “too honourable” to cut ties with Epstein, Andrew “categorically denies” sexually assaulting Virginia Giuffre three times when she was 17; this is among other allegations that were made against him. He added that his accuser’s account could not be accurate because, when she claimed he assaulted her, he was both physically unable to sweat and conveniently eating pizza with his daughter, Princess Beatrice, at Pizza Express in Woking.

The disgraced younger brother of King Charles will no longer be using his royal titles, even though he still legally own them, as a result of renewed scrutiny of the scandals surrounding Andrew and the upcoming publication of his accuser’s posthumous memoir. Before Parliament removes him from his family, Andrew’s “honorable” nature must have returned because he is doing it voluntarily, as a royal source claimed he should.

Andrew claimed to have cut ties with Jeffrey Epstein while they were photographed walking in a park together in 2010 in New York. During the trip, Andrew claimed to have done so because it was “convenient,” even though he acknowledged that it was probably the “wrong” choice with the aid of “hindsight.”

The now-infamous photo of Virginia, Maxwell, and Andrew at the socialite’s London residence was first published in 2011. Giuffre claimed Epstein took the photo and gave it to US authorities for examination in 2011 after Andrew claimed it was a picture of a picture and that it cannot be relied upon.

Andrew told the royal, “We’re in this together,” and begged the sex offender to “keep in touch,” and promised “we’ll play some more soon,” in an email that recently came out shortly after the photo’s publication.

Prince Andrew abruptly resigned from his position as head of state in 2019 after shocking the nation with his confrontation with Newsnight. In 2022, Virginia Giuffre filed a civil lawsuit against him in the US in response to widespread outcry, stripped of all of his royal patronages, military honors, and faced legal action as a “private citizen”;

Andrew settled the case with Giuffre, reportedly for millions, as a “private citizen,” whose mother wore the crown, whose brother soon would, and whose family wealth is determined by their royal position. But remember, Andrew claims he never met her.

Virginia’s family claimed that the “toll of abuse… became intolerable” when she committed suicide in her home in Western Australia in April of this year. She had three teenage children at the age of 41. Her family praised Andrew’s decision to renounce his royal title as a “vindication.”

They stated in a statement that this is not just a victory for her, but also for every survivor of the heinous crimes committed by Epstein and his associates.

However, Andrew Lownie, Andrew Lownie, Andrew’s biographer, called the move “window dressing” and “symbolic.”

Lownie continued, “A much firmer line should have been taken,” adding that the statement “was pretty offensive.”

The Crown itself is the ultimate symbol, but Lownie is correct that the move is symbolic. The totem and metaphor serve as the frameworks by which King Charles is able to operate effectively. The gesture, therefore, is not entirely worthless, and while it won’t change how the general public perceives Andrew, Charles, William, and other royals have shown a strong commitment to the crown over family loyalty, which might appeal to some people.

Andrew cannot escape the fact that his existence and the absence of implications for serious allegations he faces are both deeply symbolic, whether he uses the royal titles that come with being a member of his particular family or not.

According to Rape Crisis, 71,227 rapes were recorded in England and Wales by police in 2024, but charges were brought in only 2.4 per cent of cases. Victims of sexual assault are let down on a systemic scale, leading the charity to say: “ Rape and sexual abuse have been effectively decriminalised.”

A “firmer line” should be what such serious allegations call for, Lownie was right, but as it stands, the leniency with which Andrew has been treated perfectly exemplifies the status quo and what victims are treated with across the nation.

Therefore, such allegations are being tried in the court of public opinion because the courts that we ought to have relied on are deceiving so many. The court of public opinion is the only avenue of access we have today, without any assurance that the justice system will intervene against those who commit sexual crimes.

Roman Kemp shares brave mental health admission as he reflects on suicidal thoughts

Roman Kemp bravely admitted to having battles with his mental health and coming out on top after giving up his antidepressants.

Roman Kemp has bravely discussed his mental health. The broadcaster has previously been open about his struggles, revealing previously that he had suicidal thoughts.

In 2020, Roman’s world was turned upside down following the tragic death of his close friend and colleague, Joe Lyons, known to thousands as Producer Joe, due to his position on the Capital FM Breakfast Show, which Roman previously hosted.

After coworkers visited Joe’s home, Roman, 32, was given the shocking news while working. Joe had a completely off-character absence from work, which he had to rectify. The talented producer sadly took his own life at the age of 31.

Following the death of Joe, Roman bravely shared his own experiences with mental health and fronted the BBC Three documentary, Roman Kemp: Our Silent Emergency, exploring the epidemic which is affecting young men.

He started taking sertraline, an antidepressant, as a teenager, as well as dealing with suicidal thoughts from the age of 15. Now, Roman has opened up to the Mirror, admitting he’s no longer taking his prescription anti-depressants.

He referred to his documentary on mental health and suicide as “it’s really hard, I speak about it now, it can come across in a desensitized way.” Because there is no taboo around it for me, because the worst thing has already happened, it’s simple for me to talk about.

He went on to add: “It’s a decision that I made when I wanted to make it, and you’re in a catch-22. Would you rather have Joe back or would you rather have him if you said, “Look at all these people you might have helped with Joe’s story”? It sounds selfish in some ways, but I would always just have him back. This is the situation we’re in.

I made the first documentary to try to help someone; I had to try and understand it for myself. I’ve said before that I worked with my friend in a very selfish way. From someone who had already considered killing themselves, how have I not seen that? It fluctuates, but it’s been very interesting for me over the past year because I’ve stopped taking antidepressants and finding it challenging. It’s been a little bit harder than I anticipated. “Since Joe’s death, Roman has become an ambassador for Joe’s Buddy Line, offering free, confidential support to people across the UK.

But Roman urged that people in a similar situation shouldn’t try coming off their antidepressants via the cold turkey method”. He continued, “I’ve done that, and my doctor gave me a very strong telling off. Never do that,” he continued. Roman once said, “I actually ended up in one of the worst places of my life when I did that.” But when I did it this time, you came down slowly and came off it. If I have to turn things around, I don’t see it as a failure. That is what I find to be healthier.

Despite his achievements over the years, Roman explained his famous dad, Martin, of Spandau Ballet fame, told him that his 2020 documentary would be the” best thing “he would do in his career”. I was thinking, “Do I take offence to that? ” at the time. Before telling his father that he had a long list of accomplishments to tick off, he explained.

“He [Martin] goes ‘Those things don’t matter, that matters,’ now when I look back on it, that’s the thing,” he said of his career highlights. And while mental health is no longer as taboo as it once was, Roman has now branched out with the Premier League for their Together Against Suicide campaign.

For men and women under the age of 35, suicide is the leading cause of death. Since September 10, every match, across all 20 Premier League clubs, have proudly stood together to show their support and ensure that fans know where to turn to if they need it.

I’m really proud of the team, Roman said, “I think what we’ve been able to achieve is really good. The entire group, the Premier League, myself, Vinai Venkatesham [Chief Exec of Tottenham Hotspur]. It’s the start of the campaign. It’s all about how it can continue now, after that.

“That’s the difficult thing, the difficulty is making people realise it’s not just mental health awareness day or month. World suicide prevention day shouldn’t be a thing; it should be every day. That’s the journey we’ve got to go on. I saw an article where Jude Bellingham came out [and spoke about his own mental health] and spoke about going to therapy. Even things like that, I think, because of the narrative we set out with the Premier League – more players are seeing it and going ‘Ok, I can come forward,’ that would be amazing if more players came forward – but that was really for the fans and becoming an intervention point.”

Roman, 36, says it was the “hardest thing” he’s ever done, but while his mental health is currently on track, he recently participated in Celebrity Race Across the World with his sister, Harley Moon, 36. He bravely continued, “I was on the verge of panic attack constantly,” saying, “Doing it without no antidepressants is the most difficult thing ever.”

In retrospect, I think it was my best decision ever. We never spent any of our time together, aside from our crazy time together. We were always very different to each other, but we also very much misunderstood each other. I never disclosed to Harley that I loved her before going through this.

Because I thought we were two very different people, I had never said that before. I had never just called her for a catch-up. It was so intriguing to see what relationship would come from that situation. As you can see, my mother is extremely proud that we are still alive.

However, the show did come with serious risks. “Our series is dangerous, that’s what I will say – Mexico to Colombia is no joke,” he stated. He went on to say: “It’s one of my favourite shows, out of all of the projects I choose to do, they’re all things I genuinely enjoy or feel an association with.

When I watch Race Across the World, I look at it and say, “It looks really fun, how difficult can it be,” and then I go there on day four because it’s awful and takes a long time. Seven weeks !

Roman has recently been announced as Marriott Bonvoy’s official Getaway Guru in partnership with Nectar, a campaign he aligns with due to his love of travel”. It’s a no-brainer to talk about how people can build up points on their weekly shops when it comes to what people spend their money on. When people leave, realizing that the experience you are purchasing lasts forever, I’m always an advocate for them.

Reflecting on the current state of the country and increased prices, he said:” It’s tough for anyone, being able to provide for your family and give your family those memories. Anyhow, the thought “I can do this and I can help me toward a hotel or a trip away” can help to relieve that or give you inspiration. ” “

But when it comes to planning a getaway, Roman admits he loves holidays, which allow him to learn”. He said, “I went to South Africa,” before stating that he had arranged to meet with a tour guide. He continued, “I like an itinerary. When I go away, one of the best tips I’ve ever had, and I use it all the time now, I try to do a food tour. Roman can absorb both the agricultural industry, the socio-economic situation, and the local culture in addition.

I always feel like, “Where is the history that I can go and find? ” because I like learning when I leave. “He went on to explain:” It’s such a fun role to take on. This partnership with Marriott Bonvoy x Nectar is all about helping people reevaluate how they organize their vacations, and I really like it. They did a lot of research, I think. Turns out that 41% of Brits spend as much time thinking about their weekly food shop as they do planning their next holiday. “

New Marriott Bonvoy members who register via Nectar and link their online accounts will receive 500 bonus Nectar points, and all linked account holders will earn 500 more Nectar points in addition to the Marriott Bonvoy points they have earned during their first three hotel stays.
