Mary Berry’s husband rushed to hospital as Bake Off star issues worrying health update

After he broke ribs, Mary Berry discusses her nearly 60-year marriage and nursing husband.

Dame Mary Berry is caring for her husband after a recent fall left him with broken ribs – but says it deepened their bond and made them even closer.

The TV cook and author has been married to 93-year-old Paul for almost 60 years. Asked about their relationship by Saga magazine, she said: “He’s just had a tumble with broken ribs. I’m very sympathetic about that. But he’s getting better day by day. Soon we’ll have him back to his own old self.’

I’ve been in love with my husband for a long time. He’s not doing well right now in his dotage. Because he is so appreciative, it’s a pure pleasure to watch him. You’re aware that as a child, he always comes first.

He appreciates the things I do for him and is now very thoughtful. I must do more, but it’s a pleasure. Many of your friends are no longer here, which saddens you 90.

They are dying, so I have many girlfriends who don’t get a husband like I do, which is very sad for them.

When Paul, a former owner of an antique book, returns to exercise, he and Mary play croquet twice weekly.

Mary continued, “I absolutely adore it.” “My husband is superior to me.” He played rugby for the Saracens and is a sportsman. I told him I would play croquet because he’s 93 and he already decided to. Although we work together, it’s great that I’m not as good as him.

She insisted she is keen to stay active, adding: “My mother was 105 when she died, so I’ve got pretty good genes. I’m immensely grateful for that. My fitness routine is to walk the dogs. Darcey and Freddie are working cocker spaniels.”

The former Great British Bake Off judge Mary and Paul married in 1966, and she revealed in an interview earlier this month that the secret to a happy marriage was leaving when a disagreement was imminent.

She remarked, “Paul always believes that the key to our successful marriage is his saying, “Yes, dear,” to everything before going his own way. But we don’t argue. I open the back door to resolve any disagreements and simply leave with the option to pick up some flowers or get some apples. If you can leave, it’s amazing.

“Of course, that would be challenging if I were residing in a top-floor apartment.” However, we have mutual respect. And I have a very good fortune. He has grown accustomed to my appreciation and has mellowed as a result.

“I look after him, and it’s a pleasure to do so. I made the promise to do that. For better or worse, for the rich or the poor. And our time is very enjoyable.

Tel Aviv derby called off by police after ‘violent riots’

Police in Israel

Prior to Sunday’s kick-off, the Israeli Premier League game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv was postponed due to what police described as “public disorder and violent riots.”

Israeli police posted on X, adding that “this is disorder and serious violence,” and that “dozens of smoke grenades and pyrotechnic devices were thrown.”

According to the police, 12 civilians and three officers were hurt, and 16 were detained for questioning and nine were arrested.

In the run-up to the highly anticipated game, Hapoel Tel Aviv criticized the derby cancellation, accusing Israeli police of “preparing for a war, not a sporting event.”

The shocking events that occurred outside the stadium and the reckless and scandalous decision not to play the game only show that Israel Police have taken control of the game, according to Hapoel Tel Aviv’s statement on X.

Only to confirm that the game was canceled, Maccabi Tel Aviv has yet to comment.

The Safety Advisory Group (SAG) in Birmingham’s decision to forbid Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters from the Aston Villa game on November 6 has sparked widespread criticism.

Since then, the UK government has stated that it is working to overturn the ban and is looking into possible additional resources to make sure the event can be hosted safely.

Villa claimed to have no obligations to their matchday attendants and that they were aware that some “may have concerns.”

West Midlands Police said on Thursday that it supported the ban and that, based on intelligence and previous incidents, it regarded the fixture as “high risk.”

That included “violent clashes and hate crimes” between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv fans prior to a game in Amsterdam in November 2024, when more than 60 people were detained.

In the German Darts Championship, Nathan Aspinall won his third European Tour victory of the year.

Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode defeated the 34-year-old Englishman 8-6 in the final in Hildesheim.

Aspinall, who won the European Darts Open and European Darts Trophy, adds the title to his previous victories on the European Tour.

Aspinall, who will be the top seed for the European Championship in Dortmund the following weekend, won the Sunday final with an average of 97.05 points.

In the final, “The Asp” jumped to a 6-2 lead before Van Duijvenbode equalized before Aspinall won the £30, 000 first prize.

Aspinall defeated Dutch duo Jermaine Wattimena and Gian van Veen on finals day, finishing with a stunning 110 average to defeat Steve Lennon.

The Stockport thrower then defeated world youth champion Van Veen 7-6 in the semi-finals with four straight legs.

Only the fifth player to have won three European Tour titles in the same calendar year is Aspinall, Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, Luke Humphries, and Dave Chisnall.

Aspinall, who will face Rob Cross at the European Championship, said, “I’m in very good company.”

“These are very, very difficult times,” he declared. I didn’t know the formula until I won my first one, but it took me ten years to do so.

Kim Kardashian ‘loses it’ in jaw-dropping ‘faceless’ outfit with eight-word outburst

Kim Kardashian had a nude look that covered her entire face as she attended the 2025 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, October 18, and was almost unrecognizable.

Reality TV star and wealthy businesswoman Kim Kardashian uttered an eight-word panicked plea after losing her composure at the 2025 Academy Museum Gala on 18 October, a lipreader has revealed.

The 44-year-old mum-of-four was virtually unrecognisable as she attended the event in Los Angeles, California, wearing a Maison Margiela couture nude ensemble that featured a mask covering her entire face.

Kardashian revealed that she was still wearing full-face, glam makeup underneath despite wearing a head-turning, faceless outfit that left fans uneasy.

Kardashian struggled to see where she was walking and nearly fell onto her covered face regardless of whether she had a complete face of makeup underneath the odd nude drape.

Lipreader Nicola Hickling examined a clip shared to People’s Instagram account showing Kardashian being assisted into the event, with an escort holding up her nude gown whilst she flailed her arms attempting not to fall.

Hickling told the Mirror: “Using advanced video enhancement software, I analyzed the footage frame by frame and isolated Kim Kardashian’s speech patterns beneath her mask allowing me to confidently determine what she said to her assistant.”

Kim then proceeded to state, “Kim appears visibly uneasy, she waves her hands in disbelief and shakes her head before saying, “Don’t let me go, I can’t see anything.”

She appears unsteady and momentarily panicked. Her assistant continues to be polite and helpful, saying, “Don’t worry, I’ve got you.” Just hold onto my hand while I lead you. “

The lipreader continued, “Kimregains her composure, and they begin to leave together with more confidence.” Kardashian’s supporters were uneasy by the peculiar ensemble, however.

A matching ring and a multi-layered crystal-embellished choker necklace with emerald jewels and cross pendants complete the look.

She made light of her masked appearance at the gala on a video she herself shared. She posed the question, “Do I look okay, Mario Dedivanoic,” her makeup artist in the video. The make-up? “

He jokingly responded, “Yes, your make-up looks amazing. It’s good, Kardashian then said. That work, men. However, I believe I always treat Mario this way.

While some people praised the appearance as being “interesting” and “very talented” by one fan, “others weren’t particularly impressed with her sartorial choice.”

Several even noted that the outfit brought to mind her completely covered ensemble she wore whilst attending the 2021 Met Gala with her former husband, Kanye West.

Kardashian wore a black mask to the 2021 Met Gala as part of a Balenciaga look that covered both her face and head. Fans on X responded to the star’s Saturday evening appearance by saying, “You can still see the Kanye in her.

Was Kanye the person she was? She misses Kanye, I see, because this is ridiculous, one questioner responded, while another responded, “She misses Kanye.”

She looks ridiculous, another comment. Must be leftover from Kanye’s crazy life. How does she breathe, according to a different user’s tweet?

One person said, “This is what happens when the plastic surgery doesn’t heal in time for the event,” lol.

Another user questioned, “Why are celebrities so weird? Like they don’t know how to just be normal people.”

Mbappe Sends Real Madrid Top Of La Liga

With a 1-0 victory over nine-man Getafe on Sunday, Kylian Mbappe extended his scoring streak to 11 straight games to reclaim the top spot in La Liga.

After rivals Barcelona’s narrow victory over Girona on Saturday gave them a brief advantage over the Spanish, Xabi Alonso’s side now has a two-point lead over the Clasico on Saturday.

In the 80th minute, Mbappe decisively decide the game after Allan Nyom was dismissed a minute after Getafe had already fought off Madrid. As Getafe’s final chapter unraveled, Alex Sancris was also dismissed.

Vinicius Junior, a star of Brazil, was Alonso’s starting lineup for the Champions League match against Juventus on Wednesday and Barca’s upcoming visit in mind.

With both of Getafe’s red cards for fouls on him, the winger proved to be crucial as a second-half substitute.

Vini had a significant impact, Alonso claimed to the media this morning.

Coming up against Getafe was never easy, according to the coach, “it wasn’t the prettiest game, but we did what we had to do.”

Mbappe made his return from the Getafe Coliseum stadium after an ankle issue prevented him from playing in a France World Cup qualifier earlier in the week.

The French forward had scored again in his previous ten goals for the club and country.

We are pleased with Kylian’s direction because he is being decisive, Alonso said.

Before Getafe gained a foothold in the game, Mbappe twice came close to causing much trouble for the visitors before they were stopped.

Only after Jude Bellingham’s excellent work at the end of the first period did Madrid start to improve in attack, with Soria saving from Rodrygo Goes.

Before half-time, Fede Valverde smacked a strike across the face of the goal from a powerful David Alaba free-kick.

Vinicius started to worry the hosts as Alonso sent him on in the second half, who resorted to fouls to stop the Brazilian.

Madrid remained unbeaten after Bellingham fed Mbappe, who headed off target before slinging a free-kick inches wide.

Getafe see red

When Getafe substitute Nyom inutilely knocked down Vinicius with his arm less than a minute later, the game changed.

Real Madrid took the lead just as the game was about to end.

Mbappe was just onside when Arda Guler turned well before firing past Soria and the post for his tenth league goal of the season, which was top both in La Liga and the Champions League.

Jose Bordalas’ side had nine men on hand as Getafe continued to self-destruct, and Sancris was given a second yellow card after Vinicius was convicted of another unnecessary foul.

After Vinicius, whom Getafe fans booed, gave him a cheeky scoop over the defense, Alvaro Carreras fired wide.

The hosts had a fantastic chance to equalize in stoppage time, but Thibaut Courtois saved from Englishman Abu Kamara with his knee.

Thibaut did his job, according to Alonso, “we should not give away this chance.”

Before Madrid’s opener, Getafe coach Bordalas said he didn’t think Nyom deserved to be let go.

The coach of Getafe said, “Nyom’s red card changed the game.” It’s not a red card for me, but it’s at most a yellow one.

Elche, a newly-promoted team, also stayed strong with a 0-0 draw against Athletic Bilbao, which placed them seventh, one place above their Basque rivals.

With a 3-0 victory over Levante, Rayo Vallecano moved into 10th place, while Real Sociedad’s 10-man Celta Vigo held to a late 1-1 draw.
