Meet The Beatles tour guide becomes celebrity favourite ahead of Liverpool biopic filming

With the addition of numerous biopics in the works, The Beatles’ world-wide love affair continues. Dale Roberts, a tour guide to Liverpool, explains why celebrities still flock to the Fab Four’s hometown.

It’s been over 60 years since four lads from Liverpool released their debut single and Beatles mania swept the world.

The Beatles dominated 1960s culture with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, and their popularity is still strong even today.

Such is the popularity of the Fab Four, a multi-part biopic by Sam Mendes following the stories of all four members, which will hit theatres in 2028, has already caused a worldwide buzz before filming has even begun.

Paul Mescal, who will play Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr portrayer Barry Keoghan were spotted around the city last month as they began to get a feel for their characters’ hometown. But if Paul, Barry – and their co-stars Joseph Quinn (George Harrison) and Harris Dickinson (John Lennon) – really know how to prepare for their roles, they’ll be giving every celebrity’s favourite tour guide a call.

The Beatles had already split up when Dale Roberts was born, but that hasn’t stopped the 35-year-old from Liverpool from becoming one of the band’s biggest fans and launching an impressive career.

It’s safe to say Dale is the man to know if you want to learn more about The Beatles, from co-owner of George Harrison’s childhood home, which is now an immersive heritage Airbnb Dale runs his own business, Dale Liverpool Tours Ltd, which offers bespoke and VIP tours to clients like Liverpool FC, Comic-Con, and international travel companies.

Over the years, Dale has delivered tours to Hollywood actors, Grammy-winning musicians like Elvis Costello, WWE stars such as Mick Foley, politicians, influencers, and elite sports personalities.

“I’ve delivered tours for many famous people, and one of the craziest things is that they recommend me to others,” Dale tells us. “Ben Davis (Ant-Man, Red Dead Redemption) called me asking to do a tour for his friend — a top improv comedian who has worked with Steve Carell.

Charisma Carpenter, the author of The Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and Angel Legend, has participated in numerous tours and was absolutely lovely. I had Steve Holley, a drummer for the Wings, talk to me about his time with Paul McCartney last year; Elvis Costello also did the same!

When Liverpool FC won the 2024 League Cup, about five of the players on the pitch had taken a tour with me a few months prior.

Dale, who was born and raised in Walton, has become one of Liverpool’s most well-known figures in the booming tourism sector by pursuing a career in The Beatles.

He was hired as Head of Marketing at Liverpool’s open-top bus company, Liverpool City Sights, in 2016. The business was struggling to make it to the bottom of TripAdvisor’s regional rankings. A hop-on hop-off tour with a Beatles theme shook up the city’s tour scene, and Dale helped design it.

He claims that Dale accidentally started leading in 2017 when the team was understaffed and found his calling right away. He was later recognized for his contributions to the tour, including being recognized by TripAdvisor as one of the Best in the World in 2022.

He was hired by Cavern City Tours as the marketing manager for Liverpool’s renowned Cavern Club a year after designing the tour. Additionally, he began guiding them on their renowned Magical Mystery Tour. In a first for the venue, Dale became the only guide to lead scheduled tours inside the Cavern in its history when he was invited to give scheduled “Behind the Scenes” tours in 2019.

During that time, Dale received hundreds of glowing reviews and TripAdvisor listed the Cavern Club ahead of Buckingham Palace among the world’s greatest landmarks. By late 2021, Dale had become manager of the Magical Mystery Tour — Liverpool’s longest-running Beatles bus tour. He would go on to set records for customer feedback, and in 2024, TripAdvisor ranked the tour the 8th best in the world.

“I think Liverpool should be the best tour in the world,” Dale says. Our music “changed the world because it has such a wonderful history.” You couldn’t see everything that changed the world in any other major city because it’s so easily accessible.

The city’s abundance of tours and experts is useful for the cast of the upcoming Beatles films. John, Paul, George, and Ringo have a lot of acting experience, but they are not from Liverpool. Does Dale have any advice for the cast who wants to impress the Merseysidens?

“If I could give the young actors acting one piece of advice, it would be to spend time in Liverpool, visiting the landmarks and walking the streets as the Beatles did. You have to feel this city’s attitude and sense of humor.

Liverpool made the Beatles, not The Beatles, according to the saying. We can be excited if the actors take the time to realize that they will be channeling something real on screen.

And if Paul, Barry, Harrison, and Joseph have any sense, they’ll be calling Dale to make sure they’re up to speed before the cameras start rolling, following in their celebrity contemporaries.

England add coach McGuigan on job share with Sale

Until the end of the season, Sale coach Byron McGuigan will work as a part of an interim position on the England coaching staff.

When on duty in England, former Scotland wing McGuigan will concentrate on the contact area and developing skills and tactics with the back three.

For their successful tour of Argentina and the United States earlier this year, McGuigan and Bath attack coach Lee Blackett were sent abroad.

With Richard Wigglesworth switching to defense, Joe El-Abd working with the forwards, and Richard Wigglesworth taking over the attack role full-time, McGuigan and Blackett are now a part of a rejigged England set-up.

Steve Borthwick, England’s head coach, described Byron as a “intelligent and driven coach with a real desire to improve players.”

He understands the game well both as a coach and an international player. The impact he will have in the fall is something I’m anticipating.

“It was a huge privilege to play for the team this summer,” said McGuigan.

“I’m very appreciative of Sale’s support in allowing me to pursue this opportunity alongside my club position. It’s a fantastic opportunity to continue improving as a coach while supporting both teams.

Although McGuigan’s arrangement was delayed last year because other top-flight clubs rejected his initial proposal to split his time between the national team and Saracens, McGuigan’s appointment was later delayed.

The McGuigan coaching role is seen as a development opportunity without any potential conflict of interest, in contrast to Morrow, who has influence over the treatment of England’s centrally-contracted players and their selection issues.

After seven seasons and more than 100 appearances for Sale, McGuigan retired as a player in 2023, and he only joined them as their defense coach in November.

According to Sale rugby director of rugby, “Byron is a coach who is so recently removed from playing that he can tap into the players’ emotions and understand what they’re feeling.”

Because he hasn’t been at the coal face himself for a while, he can still inspire players’ interest.

His game intelligence, his rugby IQ, and his understanding of defensive shape, especially in the wider channels, are all excellent additions to what he inspires the lads to put their bodies on the line.

McGuigan, who was born in Namibia and raised in South Africa, won ten caps for Scotland, earning three Test tries from his mother.

Robbie Williams teases Strictly Come Dancing hosting job after Tess and Claudia quit

After Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman left, is Robbie Williams on the list to take the stage? Fans are hoping so after he posted a teaser on X.

Robbie Williams has teased that he’s next in line to host Strictly Come Dancing after longtime presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced they were quitting the BBC show today.

The 51-year-old Let Me Entertain You singer stated to his 2.3 million followers, “Just got a rather fancy phone call about a very glittery dance floor job. Sequins and tuxedos may be something I’ll wear someday. A wink face emoji follows with “stay tuned,” then “.”

Fans are eager to see it, with many hoping it will be a reality. One user wrote, “Strictly,” in the comments. You would undoubtedly increase my weekend TV viewing rate by ACE. Is Tess and Claudia leaving in this way? a second question was asked.

A third fan wrote: “Camp as Christmas…!!! That would be right up your street Robbie.” A fourth posted: “You tease!! Please let this be true x.” A fifth chimed in: “Only time I’d watch it lol!”

A sixth grader praised him for posing as a “double act” with his wife Ayda, and said, “That would be amazing!!!” Would be perfect between you and Ayda! Tess and Claudia announced this morning that Strictly would be leaving, which means that the season’s finale will take place on December 20.

Tess, 56, is in charge for 21 years. Bruce Forsyth, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 89, was her former co-host. Claudia, 53, who co-hosted Tess’ show for the past 11 years, stepped in in 2014.

The famous duo made a public statement about their decision by appearing together in a video that they posted on their social media accounts. They claimed they wanted to “pass the baton” on to new presenters.

Claudia began the video by saying, “Hi, it’s Claud and Tess. We want to hear from you about some rumors that have occurred. “.

Tess cut in: “Yeah we have news. After 21 wonderfully joyful years on Strictly, we have decided the time is right to step aside and pass on the baton…” “The very sparkly baton…” Claudia continued, before she turned to Tess and said: “You’ve been here since the beginning…”

Tess then responded, “2004 with Brucey, lovely Bruce.” That was over 20 years ago, and you have retained much of it. Hasn’t it been a significant part of our lives? Since our children were sexy babies in the beginning, we have cherished every second, in my opinion.

We have, we’re so fortunate to have been a part of this amazing show, Claudia continued, “We just want to thank the Strictly team because Strictly is the person who makes it so thank you.”

Tess concurred, saying, “They are the most amazing television team we’ve been so fortunate. They’ve also had a great time with the audience. They have been with us for the past 21 years, and they have provided us with such a show.

They captioned the video, “We have loved working as a duo, and hosting Strictly has been a dream. We had planned to leave together before, but now it seems appropriate.

“We will have the greatest rest of this amazing series and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show. They’re the most brilliant team and we’ll miss them every day.”

We will cry when we say the final “keep dancing,” they added, but we will keep saying it to one another. Possibly while eating some pizza while wearing tracksuit bottoms at home. Tess &amp, Claud”.

Gov Radda Swears-In Three Commissioners, Eight Permanent Secretaries

Three new commissioners and eight permanent secretaries have been sworn in by Katsina State governor Dikko Radda, who urged them to view their appointments as solemn obligations to serve the state’s citizens with integrity, accountability, and a sense of duty.

Yusuf Jibia, Aisha Malumfashi, and Sirajo Abukur are just a few of the commissioners who took the oath.

The Permanent Secretaries are: Nasiru Ladan (Kaita LGA), Yusuf Ahmed (Katsina LGA), Aminu Ibrahim (Katsina LGA), Dasuki Ibrahim Abubakar (Malumfashi LGA), Lawal Abashe (Matazu LGA), Ado Yahaya (Sabuwa LGA), Sani Rabi’u Jibia (Jibia LGA), and Aminu Ibrahim (K

The governor emphasized that the swearing-in ceremony occurred as his administration was reviewing its performance after two and a half years in office in an effort to improve the civil service and improve its ability to respond to citizen needs.

Top government officials, traditional rulers, local government chairmen, and the appointees’ families attended the ceremony, which took place on Thursday at the Katsina Government House Council Chamber.

Governor Radda characterized the occasion as “a renewal of commitment to good governance, accountability, and effective service delivery.”

“This administration has been in power for almost two and a half years. Therefore, he said, “It is time for us to reevaluate what we have done so far and reposition people in various capacities to strengthen the system.”

Governor Radda praised the new commissioners’ ability, moral character, and public service record.

The Governor praised Jibia’s decades of experience in various leadership positions, including those of the local government commissioner, commissioner, and chairman of the Pilgrims Welfare Board, and described him as “the oldest politician in the cabinet.”

He has done everything and been everywhere. His extensive experience, thorough knowledge of governance, and dedication to the public service will continue to benefit us, the governor said.

He also praised Aisha Aminu for her outstanding contribution to Katsina State’s governance and entrepreneurship.

Radda recalls her tireless efforts during his campaign and her impressive accomplishments as the era’s first director general of the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA), where she gave a lot of young entrepreneurs and small business owners a boost.

In order to continue benefiting from her experience, innovation, and commitment to youth and women empowerment, he said, “I decided to elevate her to the position of Commissioner” in light of her performance and my desire to see more women in government.”

Abukur was praised by the governor as a long-time political associate and a representative of young leadership spirit. He recalled Sirajo’s outstanding work as KASROMA’s leader, who helped to improve road maintenance and construction across the 34 local governments.

Radda emphasized that “we need to recruit young people into government so that we can harness their creativity, drive for development,”

Governor Radda also emphasized the value of diversity, arguing that Sirajo’s appointment shows that Rimi Local Government Area, which hasn’t had a commissioner since the return of democracy, is represented fairly and representative.

He stated, “As fate would have it, it is now time for Rimi to be represented in the cabinet,” underscoring his commitment to fair appointments in all sectors.

Governor Radda described their appointments as part of his ongoing effort to professionalize the state civil service, referring to the newly sworn-in permanent secretaries. He demanded that they follow a strict schedule, follow-through, and effectively support policy implementation.

Marathon record holder Chepngetich given three-year ban

Ruth Chepngetich, a Kenyan who admitted breaking the anti-doping rules, has been banned for three years.

Following a positive test for hydrochlorothiazide (a prohibited diuretic used frequently as a masking agent), Chepngetich was provisibly suspended in July on March 14.

Chepngetich’s accomplishments, including her world-record two hours, nine minutes, and 56 seconds in Chicago in October 2024, will still be remembered.

The 31-year-old’s sentence was reduced to three years because she admitted to the violations despite the request for a four-year ban from the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

However, Chepngetich’s phone’s evidence, including messages dating back to 2022, indicates “reasonable suspicion that her positive test may have been intentional,” the AIU will continue to look into it.

Nobody is above the law, according to the saying.

Chepngetich, the first woman to complete a marathon in less than 2:10 during an interview with the AIU in April, was unable to explain why the test was positive.

Chepngetich’s sample had an estimated concentration of 3,800 ng/mL, compared to the HCTZ’s minimum reporting level of 20 nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL) in urine.

A sample taken from Chepngetich two weeks earlier, on February 28, also revealed HCTZ residues that were below the required reporting level.

The above-mentioned suspicious evidence was presented to Chepngetich at a later interview on July 11th. The AIU had also refuted contamination in the interim.

Chepngetich’s explanation changed on July 31 when she claimed she had taken her housemaid’s medication, which was labeled as being HCTZ, after becoming ill two days before the positive test results.

According to the AIU, there are “serious reservations about the credibility of the new version of events,” and such “recklessness” is regarded as “indirect intent, for which an increased four-year sanction is applicable in the context of the sport’s anti-doping laws.

After Chepngetich admitted breaking the anti-doping rule within the 20-day deadline, an automatic one-year reduction was implemented.

The athlete’s results, awards, titles, appearances, and prize money have been forfeited since March 19th, the three-year ban took effect when Chepngetich accepted a voluntary provisional suspension.

The case, according to AIU Chair David Howman, underscored the idea that “nobody is above the laws.”

This is how the system is supposed to operate, according to Howman, despite the disappointment of those who placed their trust in this athlete.
