Celebrity Traitors’ Alan Carr admits he’s ‘no longer friends’ with Paloma Faith after betrayal

After killing her on Traitors, Alan Carr has admitted that he and Paloma Faith are no longer friends. He also plans to invite the pop star to dinner to apologise.

Alan Carr has admitted that he and Paloma Faith are no longer friends after he ‘murdered’ her early on in Celebrity Traitors. The comedian, 49, is one of the titular traitors on the celebrity edition of the hit BBC show, and sensationally made sure that the New York songstress was the first one out of the game just after it had all started.

Fans watched as the lid come down on the singer’s coffin after her pal and funnyman Alan carried out the murder in plain sight. The former Chatty Man star, who is a traitor alongside singer Cat Burns and fellow chat show host Jonathan Ross on the programme, spoke out about the current status of their friendship during the latest episode of his Life’s A Beach podcast.

He was joined by DJ Norman Cook, better known as Fatboy Slim, who directly asked him: “Aren’t you mates with Paloma?” before Alan replied: “Well, I was…”

The pop star, 44, then told Alan that he had to remind her that the whole point of the show was to begin with “she said, If you were a real friend, you wouldn’t have killed me,” but that he had to do so because he had been wrong. However, I remarked, “I’m the Traitor!” The Traitors is a television program that does what it says on the tin!

Then Alan explained how the fans were affected by the viral moment and how they thought he was acting appropriately. She claims that I let her down because I killed her in plain sight, according to him. It’s similar to being told to wear my knickers off at Naked Attraction before going on a show. You are aware of your commitments, right?

Alan then admitted he would make it up to Paloma despite the apparent fallout. He declared, “I’m going to take her out for dinner.” She is my love. No one wants to be murdered first on a show, but I’m a huge fan of her and think she’s the best. I was afraid”!

After watching the episode back, Alan’s theory that he was left with no choice was quickly refuted by Paloma who had sat down with Ed Gamble on the spin-off series Uncloaked shortly after it all started to play out on screen.

In an hysterical interview on the spin-off show The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, she opened a note listing them one by one and was floored by the revelation who had been in the trio of traitiors. She responded, “Jonathan?! The nerd! What a p***k, I’m happy to lose him as a friend.

You had no suspicions about Jonathan, Ed asked. He is obviously really, really studied, she replied, “No, no suspicions.” He excels at it a lot.

She discovered Cat had a traitor in a similar way. She continued, “I’m actually annoyed because she belongs to the same record label as me, and she should be a good listener.” Alan was given the most brutal attack by Paloma, and she held her. “These are my three favorite people,” I said. I mean, I hope they don’t call me again.

She returned later in Uncloaked after having fully enjoyed the episode and not calmed down after Alan had taken her. She continued, “I still think that if the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn’t have done that,” adding that she was surprised that he had done it for me.

He had a choice, which was not very nice, he said. However, he is very endearing, and I’ve spoken to him since, and I also find forgiveness to be simple in my own eyes. I also care about him. She continued, “she continued to say that she feels” even more betrayed now that she has “had time to digest her murder.”

Trigger Point star Vicky McClure says ‘Music can save you – I know from experience’

In a conversation with her Line of Duty pals, Vicky McClure and her husband, Jonny Owen, discuss how revolutionizing the clubbing scene can be achieved.

Trigger Point star Vicky McClure and her husband Jonny Owens have quite the side hustle. It involves getting those who don’t fancy rolling home at 3am on a Saturday night out, clubbing by day, having the time of their lives and getting home ‘in time for a nice curry.’ Day Fever started out as an idea on WhatsApp with their friend, Jon McClure of the band Reverend & The Makers, at the tail end of 2023.

Fast forward to the present day, and it’s a nationwide phenomenon, with day raves regularly selling out in cities across the UK “It’s like… a massive kitchen party at your nan’s”, laughs Vicky warmly, as the Mirror catches up exclusively with the actress and her Welsh film director husband on Zoom, from their home in Nottingham. “Just with an awful lot more people and… an unlimited bar.”

Vicky, 42, has been front and centre of the biggest TV dramas of recent years (Line of Duty, anyone?) but is as proud of this initiative as anything else.

Beyond the music, it goes. She explains that we are told powerful tales. “We’ve met people at our events in the middle of cancer treatment, in remission, people grieving, caring for loved ones. They can find joy in the midst of their hair loss.

The best thing you can do is let your mates out when you or you are going through difficult times, according to my personal experience. Day Fever is somewhere you’ll get lost in music. People watch out for each other in a beautiful setting. The music can even save you.

Vicky speaks from experience, having set up The Dementia Choir in memory of her nan, who died from the cruel condition in 2015, something which led to the deeply personal, acclaimed two-part BBC 1 documentary, Our Dementia Choir, in 2018.

“I don’t say this flippantly – I really do believe music is medicine. In that series, we went into hospitals and scanned people’s brains. We saw the neurons firing, how music does work.

It’s very important to know that “you can’t stop people from feeling, you see.” I’ve always been a massive music lover, but from that moment forth, the penny dropped for me. Everyone should have music in their lives, especially those who have dementia.

Some fans turning up to one of their Day Fever events – with Sleigh Fever Christmas Clubs coming up for the festive season, are of an age where responsibilities and worries are sky-high, adds Vicky. “But the uplifting effect of music is magical. We never expected it, but at every show, there’s a story – everyone’s going through something.”

Huge music fans themselves, Vicky and Jonny, who married in 2023, have specific tunes that are guaranteed to get them on the dancefloor instantly. Vicky’s is the Whitney Houston classic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody. “It’s just a literal anthem, I feel like I’m in church. Whitney’s the number one for me. Then Young Hearts, such a cool song – it will never die.

She continues, “I was born in 1983, so I’m a true 90s girl; when we dance to the 90s hits, that’s when I get sucked in.” But my taste is varied, I’m also a massive reggae fan. However, “Day Fever is for everyone; you could start off singing Raining Men before Pulp comes on”!

For Jonny, 54, it’s A Town Called Malice, by The Jam. “When I saw Paul Weller on Top of the Pops it was like, ‘He’ll do it for me.’ Music was everything to me, still is. I went to see Oasis this summer and it was almost spiritual.”

Both were also big clubbers, ‘ back in the day’. Jonny says, “I used to be amazed that people could actually stay in on the weekend.” For the most part of 15 years, I went out every weekend.

“Yeah, I loved going out too”, adds Vicky. I have a passion for music and dance for many years, but I have always been a trained dancer. Day Fever is also reasonably priced. As Vicky puts it, “It’s a tenner a ticket, you can’t get much for a tenner these days”!

And there are a lot of different people who attend daytime concerts, including a couple who met there, fell in love, and are now getting married. Did Vicky and Jonny get an invite, then? “We did, actually,” the statement read. I might try to get there because it’s in Wales, Johnny says. “We’d definitely like to send one of our DJs for the reception”!

Someone else that springs to mind for Jonny is comedian Paddy McGuinness, who popped in for a boogy with them all one afternoon after wrapping on his Radio 2 show. “Oh, they loved Paddy! He was dancing on stage, then he went ‘Right, time for selfies’, jumped down into the crowd and spent a good half hour just taking selfies with the crowd. Beautiful thing to do.”

Unsurprisingly, both Vicky and Jonny are ardent supporters of the idea that “age is just a number” and adore how young and old, mothers and daughters, team up for their events.

Jonny’s mum even came along once, he recalls, laughing. She arrived at Cardiff’s one. Security called me with a slightly embarrassed look before I went down there and discovered that she was attempting to mug a bottle of vodka in… I said, ‘ Ma, I’ve got bloody vodka for you backstage, it’s OK! ‘ She said, “No, Jonny, I like this one.”

As for Vicky, she has moments when she forgets she’s in her 40s. How did I get to 42 on days where I’m like blimey? In my heart and head, I still feel young. I dont wanna party till 2 in the morning, but I do honestly think age is just a number”.

Of course, acclaimed ITV series Trigger Point has just returned to the small screen for a third series, Vicky reprising her lead role as bomb disposal expert, Lana Washington. Fans are already gripped, and Vicky couldn’t be happier.

“I’m so excited it’s back”, she tells us. The people I work with are the kindest, funniest, most talented cast and crew, and they’re a dream, in my opinion. Because we did series three and four consecutively, it’s been an amazing year.

This sounds gruelling, but Vicky smiles shyly at the idea. Because I work in a hospital, I don’t enjoy playing the violin on this. A little perspective is always good. It’s long hours and it’s tiring but it’s great fun.

Everyone looks after each other, and that is how it appears on the screen. You can dance with the camera in a way that makes the show better and bigger and stronger. “

The star is also pleased that Trigger Point’s cast and crew come from a variety of backgrounds. She explains, “Trying to create opportunities is my main passion.” Currently, just 9% of people in our industry are from working class backgrounds. Better work must be done. However, we were enthralled on Trigger Point that trainees were spent the entire day learning new skills while working on the job.

We won’t ask about Line of Duty, which she’s already said time and again she’d love to reprise with old cast members Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compston. But what of the travel series we’ve heard rumours the trio could do together?

Says Vicky: I’m certain we’ll get it going at some point. To be fair, it’s just something us three know that we’d love to do – travel somewhere together, cameras following us or not. I’m releasing it to the universe. What will happen, we’ll let you know.

Yasmine Djibril scored a goal in the 61st minute to give the visitors a level playing field. The Amazons then staged a counterattack, but Justin Madugu’s side kept the score the same and secured their place in Morocco’s Maghreb region for the upcoming WAFCON.

After a brave comeback against Morocco, Nigeria won the final WAFCON. The Super Falcons won the record-equaling 10th title with that trophy. They clinched it in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Between March 17 and April 3, the Women’s AFCON will take place next year. The 2027 Women’s Wold Cup in Brazil will also be qualified for the competition.
WaFCON semi-finalists will be guaranteed tournament spots. However, the intercontinental playoffs allow for two more teams to join the contingent.

Blur star announces new tour with a twist in latest Britpop renaissance

As the Britpop revival continues to captivate the nation following Oasis’ successful summer this year, a big star from the 1990s has revealed their most recent tour dates.

Hot on the heels of the electric Oasis UK tour dates, another Britpop legend is preparing for a tour of his own. Fans were left in awe of the spectacle put on by the Gallagher brothers on the big stage, and fans of the era will be chomping at the bit for the latest announcement.

After a spectacular world premiere that closed this summer’s Big Feastival in front of over 20,000 fans, Blur star Alex James is ready to send his Britpop Classical on the road for its first ever UK tour in March next year. In it, he will bring hits of the Britpop era to life alongside a live orchestra.

It will tour the United Kingdom, stopping at the Royal Albert Hall before moving on to cities like Manchester, Brighton, Newcastle, and Glasgow. The show incorporates the best songs from a golden age of British music, which was produced and performed by Blur bassist and Big Feastival founder Alex James.

Special renditions of classic songs from The Verve, Blur, Oasis, and Pulp to Supergrass and The Verve will be performed live by the London Concert Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

Phil Daniels, Saffron of Republica, and Gary Stringer of Reef will join James in doing so. Additional names should also be made public.

James spoke of the occasion, citing the fact that “somehow all of these songs now mean more to people than they did when they first came out. They really appeal to the generation of my children.

“Feastival’s revival with a symphony orchestra, a kick-ass band, some old friends, and some very special guests totally blew the roof off,” said the artist, “I can’t wait to take this show on the road.”

The production was handled by RG Live’s Director of Events Owen Kent, who stated, “The crowd reaction made it immediately obvious we had something special on our hands.”

“Britpop Classical transforms songs that are already in vogue and reinvents them in a powerful and exhilarating way. What we believe will be one of the must-see shows in 2026 is best launched by opening the tour at the Royal Albert Hall.

It follows the huge success of the likes of Oasis this summer, who were joined by Richard Ashcroft. And the Mancunian brothers are now also eyeing up Oscars success with a movie version of their reunion.

Behind-the-scenes footage from their reunion tour will be included in a film that will be made available. The documentary, which is being produced by Magna Studios, includes Noel and Liam’s first encounter with them.

According to reports, the well-known siblings believe they have a chance of winning the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film and the Baftas equivalent.

Following Prunella Scales’ passing at the age of 93, the BBC has made plans to honor her. Her family’s emotional statement confirmed her passing.

The BBC will now air an episode of the series on BBC One at 8pm tonight (Tuesday, October 28) as a show of respect. The broadcaster confirmed that The Builders is the second episode of the first season’s second season. It was first broadcast on the BBC on September 26, 1975.

Scales played the clumsy hotelier Basil Fawlty’s wife Sybil in the beloved BBC comedy series, which she starred in. According to a statement from her sons Samuel and Joseph to the PA news agency, the actress passed away “peacefully at home in London yesterday” and had been watching Fawlty Towers the day before her passing.

She continued to live at home, the statement further added: “Despite her retirement from a remarkable acting career of nearly 70 years, she. Pru and Timothy West were 61 years apart. In November of this year, 2024, he passed away.

She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, seven grandchildren, and two stepdaughters. At the end of Pru’s life, we would like to thank everyone who assisted her with such wonderful care, ensuring that she spent her final days peacefully, happy, and surrounded by love.

The BBC’s comedy director, Jon Petrie, expressed his condolences, saying, “We at BBC Comedy are so sorry to learn of Prunella Scales’ passing. She was a national treasure whose brilliance as Sybil Fawlty captivated audiences today and continues to make us laugh. Her family and friends are in our thoughts and we send our love and condolences.

Co-star John Cleese also expressed his sadness in a statement, “How very sad. Pra was a fantastic comic actress. While researching for a book, I recently watched a few clips of Fawlty Towers. She was flawless scene after scene.

He also said, “She was a very sweet lady who dedicated her life to making amends.” I used to make fun of it. I had a lot of fond memories of her.

In 1976, Fawlty Towers won the Bafta for best scripted comedy, and the film celebrated 50 years since the comedy show first aired on television. In the Fawlty Towers stage production, Mia Austen, the performer who plays Sybil, described it as “a privilege” to take on the role Scales made famous.

According to Sir Keir Starmer’s official spokesman, “Clearly Prunella Scales was part of a golden era of British comedy, someone whose talent was beamed into people’s homes over many years and gave many people a huge amount of enjoyment,” Downing Street extended its sympathies to Scales’ relatives. Of course, the Prime Minister expresses her family all of his condolences.

A diagnosis of vascular dementia was made for Scales in 2013. In 1973, Scales and Ronnie Barker co-starred in the BBC television program Seven Of One, which also featured her as Queen Elizabeth II in Alan Bennett’s A Question of Attribution.

Her husband, Timothy West, passed away in November of this year, and she has appeared on television shows like Coronation Street and EastEnders, as well as Brass and Not Going Out. The pair shared a tenth episode of Channel 4’s Great Canal Journeys, in which they traveled across the country and other parts of the world, where they discovered various waterways. They also opened up about Scales’ condition.

Their show’s final leg was broadcast in June 2019. West and his wife were first spotted exhibiting symptoms of her condition while she was performing on stage at the Greenwich Theatre in 2001 in a joint interview that they gave to BBC Breakfast in 2023.

Scales made a significant career breakthrough with her role in the Marriage Lines, a 1960s sitcom that also aired in numerous BBC Radio 4 comedies.

Her varied work included roles in After Henry, Long Day’s Journey Into Night on stage in the West End in 1991, and West’s portrayal of the widow Sarah.

She also appeared in motion pictures like Sir Jonathan Pryce and the 1987 film Consuming Passions, both of which had Dame Vanessa Redgrave and Sir Jonathan Pryce as actors. The Alzheimer’s Society’s acting chief executive, Corinne Mills, expressed her sadness over Prunella Scales’ passing, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the news that Prunella Scales – a true British icon – has passed.

“Prunella shined a powerful light on the biggest killer in the UK, shining an important light on her achievements on screen as well as her inspiring acting abilities.”

We extend our sincere condolences to her loved ones and are deeply grateful for the awareness she helped raise.

Oworonshoki: Falana Counters Lagos Govt, Says Court Order Was Duly Served

The attorney general of Lagos, Falana & Falana Chambers, has refuted the attorney general’s claim that neither the Lagos State government nor any of his agencies received an order of court before the most recent demolition exercise in the Ajileru Street, Ososa Extension, and Toluwase Extension, which are located in Lagos State’s Itesiwaju Ajumoni Community Development, in the Oworonshoki Area.

The order was issued on October 23rd, 2025, according to a press release released this evening and signed by a counsel, Taiwo Olanwanle on behalf of the firm, Falana &amp, Falana Chambers. The Honorable Commissioner for Justice’s office received the enrolled order.

Before 3 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, the commissioner of the Lagos State, general manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, and copies of the documents that have been given as a formal acknowledgement, respectively.

Our office phone lines were overflowing with calls from customers letting us know that there were more than 50 armed police officers driving heavy-duty vehicles nearby to start a new demolition after some hours of serving the court order.

Our Mr. Femi Falana, SAN called some senior Lagos State government officials, including the current General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Mr. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, who is now the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Urban Development, to intervene and forbid the planned property demolition. Mr. Oki threatened that “nothing would happen” if the court order was broken.

“They lack the authority to demolish any property in Lagos State without a court order,” the Lagos State Government presumes, without denying that the government was unaware of the order. As in this instance, acting otherwise amounts to impunity and lawlessness.

According to the statement, “To maintain the integrity of the justice system, state actors must comply with court orders, uphold the rule of law, and uphold democratic stability.”

The organization warned that the Lagos State Government’s failure to adhere to a valid court order can cause chaos and anarchy, erodering public trust in the judiciary system.

In another development, the firm has also requested a meeting for Nov. 13 from the Attorney General and his Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development to help parties determine the best course of action.

The letter also contained a statement from the claimant’s intention to file a lawsuit against the government.
