Putin tantalises Ukraine with a truce, but rejects ceasefire on the ground

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, extended his unilateral, month-long ceasefire on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure by 30 hours over the weekend.

During that time, Russian and Ukrainian long-distance attacks stopped, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, suggested extending the truce for at least 30 days.

Zelenskyy’s attitude toward Putin was reflected in Zelenskyy’s rejection of the offer, which stated that Putin wasn’t serious about a ceasefire.

“Some areas of the front line remained quiet over the Easter holiday without any air raid alerts.” This demonstrates that it is possible when Russia chooses to lessen the killing, Zelenskyy said in a Monday evening speech at night.

Russia is also the party who is best positioned to end the war, according to Ukraine, who has consistently maintained that as the aggressor.

According to Zelenskyy, Russia broke with its own Easter ceasefire on the ground. He reported on social media on Sunday evening that “67 Russian assaults have already been carried out against our positions.” Russia has failed to uphold its own promise of a ceasefire in practice, across all of the main front-line positions.

However, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine “proposes to cease any strikes using long-range drones and missiles on civilian infrastructure for at least 30 days with the possibility of extension” given the successful suspension of long-range attacks.

Putin stated to journalists on Monday, “The fighting has resumed.”

He said, “We have always had a positive attitude toward the ceasefire, which is why we took this initiative.” We now know that the Kyiv regime is trying to take the initiative and talk about expanding, according to a statement that was published in which our proposal was viewed as a game with fates and people’s lives.

Putin claimed that Russia was using 4, 900 ceasefire “violations” including “90 attempts to strike” unmanned aerial vehicles during its “tithe.”

repositioning forces

According to Anastasia Blyshchyk, the representative of Ukraine’s 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade defending the eastern town of Lyman, Russia continued to use its self-imposed truce to reposition its forces.

We witnessed how they deployed their RPGs and machine guns alongside their infantry to the front line. During this period of the so-called Easter truce, over 120 Russian occupiers were dispersed through plantings, forest belts, destroyed structures, and dugouts. The Russians launched a massive infantry offensive as soon as the so-called Easter truce came to an end, Blyshchyk told Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne.

In order to prepare for upcoming offensives, company commander Denys Perch claimed that Russian forces cleared pontoons and other crossings along the river that surrounded Lyman from Russian positions of damaged vehicles. He claimed that they needed to take a pause to perform a few actions that we typically forbid them from doing.

Russian forces carried out “manoeuvres under the nose, which at the same time looked like assaults, but came as if under a white flag,” according to Viktor Tregubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia group of forces in the east, according to the United News telethon, one of Ukaine’s wartime pool of television channels. They appeared to be trying to incite visual fire violations in the first place. so that we could launch an assault before striking it.

Zelenskyy stated in his Monday address that: “Russia has rejected both the US proposal for a full and unconditional ceasefire, which was made more than a month ago during the discussions in Jeddah, and the proposal to continue doing everything possible to maintain the ceasefire after Easter. This all demonstrates once more what Moscow really wants.

Ukraine is still attempting to bridge allies.

President Trump and the United States want this war to end, and they have now laid out the steps to a peaceful resolution, according to US State Department spokesman Tammy Bruce in a statement last week. Peace is possible if all parties commit to reaching an agreement, according to the encouraging response from Paris to the US framework.

Bruce referred to separate meetings that the Ukrainian delegation and US and European officials had last week in Paris.

Yulia Svyrydenko, the deputy prime minister of Ukraine, made the announcement on April 17 that Ukraine had “signed a statement of intent” with the US to reach an agreement “that will benefit both our peoples,” referring to Trump’s ongoing campaign to exploit Ukraine’s mineral wealth.

Andriy Yermak, the head of Zelenskyy’s office, Rustem Umerov, the defense minister, and Andrii Sybiha, the heads of the French, British, and German governments, met at the Elysee Palace in Paris on the same day to discuss a ceasefire and possible security guarantees.

Zelenskyy described the discussions as “preparing a new security architecture – all the specifics of how a partner security contingent in Ukraine can function” to Ukrainians.

Zelenskyy met Brian Fitzpatrick, co-chair of the US Congressional Ukraine Caucus, while his negotiators were in Paris.

According to Fitzpatrick, many Republicans were supportive of Ukraine, and it would be supported overwhelmingly once a bill passed.

You should know that you have strength because of people like us, and that we are willing to make those difficult decisions in your support, Fitzpatrick said as these negotiations are moving back and forth.

Trump has publicly opposed further military aid to Ukraine, and he even pressured lawmakers to delay a $60 billion aid bill by six months before winning the election.

Ukraine announced last Friday that it would start nationwide national resistance training centers.

Veterans will reportedly teach a program created by Ukraine’s military reserve, the Territorial Defence Forces.

It was unclear whether the training would involve military-related combat, support positions, or other duties to support civil-military infrastructure.

Injured Alcaraz out of Madrid Open

Carlos Alcaraz is recovering from his injury-related withdrawal from the Madrid Open, but he is hoping to recover from his French Open title defense.

The third-ranked Spaniard claimed to have injured his groin and hamstring in the Barcelona Open final on Sunday.

Alcaraz said, “I will return to training in a week or two, but I will take it step by step.”

“It wasn’t possible for me to practice.” I had to make the right choice based on my body.

I hope to be ready for the French Open, but I don’t want to advance too far.

Alcaraz won the Monte Carlo Masters in April, becoming a two-time champion in Madrid.

The Dane won the match 7-6 (8-6) 6-2 after leaving the court for treatment during the Barcelona final against Holger Rune.

Truth behind ‘Ozempic feet’ and grim side effects of dramatic weight loss

GLP-1 medications have had a transformative impact, but now there are concerns about a worrying new side-effect. Is it a security concern or merely a social media fright? To find out, we spoke with a doctor.

Fans believe they spot ‘Ozempic feet’ in Sharon Osbourne’s recent Instagram photo (Image: @sharonosbourne/Instagram)

We’ve heard about ‘Ozempic face’ and even ‘Ozempic bum’. But now people are talking about a new side effect – and it’s unexpected.

Despite the fact that it was developed to treat people with type 2 diabetes, the popularity of the Ozempic has grown. The medication slows down digestion, which reduces people’s appetite, causing significant weight loss, in the same way that it does approved weight-loss injections like Mounjaro and Wegovy, which mimic the hormone GLP-1.

While many patients, including celebrities, have high praise for the medicines for their life-changing benefits, some have also flagged some significant side effects. A small number of users have reported having intense gastrointestinal problems, including pancreatitis, gallbladder problems and even acute kidney injuries. And while these symptoms are incredibly damaging, they are thankfully rare.

However, there is one side effect that everyone now seems to be talking about, dubbed ‘Ozempic feet’ – and we spoke with Dr Matthew McCarter, clinical lead at Try Habitual, to find out more. Speculation mounted around Sharon Osbourne’s recent Instagram post, with fans questioning whether she was experiencing a sign of ‘Ozempic feet’ or perhaps just a natural sign of ageing.

Sharon, 71, first admitted to using weight loss drugs in 2023. And in podcast with Howie Mandel, she declared: “It’s not a sin to use Ozempic if you have a weight problem, so why not talk about it?”

However, Dr. Matthew confirmed that “Ozempic feet are not a medical condition that is recognized.” It has become a term used on social media and the media landscape to describe foot discomfort and changes in appearance that some people who take GLP-1 medications like Wegovy or Mounjaro have reported.

How do feet lose weight when they lose weight?

In general, losing weight can affect how much body fat is distributed. Dr. Matthew claims that rapid weight loss, regardless of form, will result in a decrease in subcutaneous fat, even in feet, as a result of lifestyle changes or medications. The feet’ soles, which also naturally lose fat padding as they age, might be affected by this. Fast fat loss alone is not typically the sole cause of foot pain.

Many people find that losing weight actually lessens the strain on their feet and lessens foot pain.

Does losing weight quickly cause foot pain or even mobility issues?

Rapid weight loss may cause temporary discomfort or altering walking patterns in some cases. However, Dr. Matthew emphasizes that these symptoms are not unique to GLP-1 medications; rather, the trials reveal a completely different pattern.

He claims that the STEP-9 trial demonstrated improvements in the patient’s pain from Wegovy-related knee osteoarthritis, which is thought to be the result of weight loss as well as a potential anti-inflammatory effect. He also points out that in another trial, patients with heart failure (predominantly older) showed improvement symptomatically when taking Wegovy. Additionally, their physical capacity increased.

Is the discomfort experienced by some people when walking on their feet permanent?

The majority of people find that their pain will lessen once their bodies begin to adjust to losing weight. Patients should see a healthcare professional if the symptoms persist or worsen while they are painful.

According to Dr. Matthew, “patients with high BMI and a recent increase in activity levels are very susceptible to conditions like plantar fasciitis.”

“Patients with diabetes or those who have a sudden drop in their blood sugar may be at fault for their foot numbness, pins and needles, or pain.”

Foot pain may be brought on by the rise in activity levels, which may shock the body, but is a crucial factor in weight management.

In summary, the term “Ocempic feet” is used to describe the tangible and physical changes that occur when people lose weight quickly; however, it is not limited to GLP-1 medication. We’re seeing side effects more frequently as more people turn to these treatments, but they might not be as severe as the viral terms suggest.

Former housemate Jordan Sangha has shared an update with fans following the news this week that he has split up from his Big Brother co-star Henry Southan. He has now suggested that he’s in a “period of grieving” in the aftermath.

Jordan, now 27, and Henry, now 26, met on the first series of ITV’s revival of Big Brother, which aired in 2023. They went on to reach the final of the reality TV show together, where Jordan was crowned the winner and Henry placed third.

Their relationship, which the former housemates had kept fans informed of since they left the house, attracted attention while they were on the show. However, they announced their separation earlier this week.

Jordan has since updated his fans on TikTok. He posted a video of himself getting ready for the day yesterday, saying, “Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday.”

He said, “Spend the day with me,” in the video. Well, today. I detest acting cruelly toward others, but I think I should be honest rather than use humor. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who left messages and comments. It’s a time of grieving, and to be honest, it’s awful, because I’m usually not. However, I can’t really get anything done right now other than let my emotions manifest.”

He continued, “You might be wondering, Jordan, if you’re making a social media video if you’re so bloody depressed.” I suppose that’s what I do first, writing aside, creating content. Second, I apologize if it sounds indulgent, but I am aware that some people worry because I merely wanted to show off. I’ll be back on top soon and intend to visit my mother. And, yes, we’ll get back from this.

Jordan announced that he had separated from Henry in a statement released on Instagram. He captioned his post on Tuesday: “An unfortunate announcement.”

He stated in a statement that was included in the post, “Henry and I have parted ways after many years, memories, and precious experiences. I want to thank everyone who has backed us. We’ll always be close friends. x hugs.

Henry also issued a statement, as previously reported at the time. He stated in his letter: “After much thought, Jordan and I have decided to separate ourselves. We are both hurting a lot, and it’s incredibly sad, but we know it’s the right move.

Henry continued, “We’re so appreciative of the love and support you’ve shown us. Thank you. Please allow some time for us to figure things out in private, the Big Brother finalist added.

Love Island’s Danny Williams says he was ‘borderline crackhead’ after ITV2 show

After appearing on the show, a former Love Island star turned into a “borderline crack head.” Jourdan Riane and Danny Williams, who first appeared on the show in 2019, have a relationship.

The former couple’s first impression on each other was when he entered Casa Amor on day 26; however, just ten days later, fans voted them off the island. Although they initially had a strong relationship, they broke up after rumors of infidelity.

Danny has now revealed that in an effort to relieve himself of pain, he turned to alcohol and other substances. The reality tv star, who has since found love, claimed he was dealing with personal issues but that he just wanted to pretend everything was alright.

Danny took to Instagram to state, “I just hit the two-year mark without a single drop of alcohol (sic, for those who don’t know),” Long story short, I used alcohol and other substances to mask my pain because it made it easier to pretend than to face my truth.

Most people describe their sobriety as “I have so much more energy now.” My quality of sleep has greatly improved. I’m just overwhelmed. I have a brand-new spring in my step. You want to know what is the biggest benefit of me cutting out alcohol from my life, yes, that’s nice, but to be honest, it’s not my experience.

It is “nothing physically at all.”

Danny described how Danny used alcohol and other substances to conceal his pain to his online fans (ITV/REX).

Danny continued, “It’s me knowing in my heart that when I lay my head down on my pillow at night, I will have that on the mental scoreboard I have.” I’m breaking free of my past. Instead of avoiding discomfort daily, I choose to face it and develop into a better person, partner, son, and future father as a result.

I am aware that drinking is “socially acceptable,” but I’m not here to suggest that anyone else completely cut it out. However, the fastest way to lose your self-esteem and feel completely inadequate in life is to run away from discomfort because it “doesn’t feel nice” right now.

Deep down, you are aware of the reality that the scoreboard says “yes, he always ran from a challenge,” and no matter how socially acceptable your excuses are, you are. When you constantly prove to yourself that you’re not, how are you supposed to feel capable?

Danny opened up about his struggles on social media
Danny discussed his issues with social media (Instagram) and opened up about it.

You will be free when you take charge of your fears and confront them head-on. I’ll keep that promise. If you’ve run out of excuses and are ready to reach your full potential, I’m starting my eight-week Summer Sculpt Challenge on Monday.

You are aware of this in your locker, deep down. Before, Danny had an explanation for how much of a hit his reality fame had had on him, explaining how his once prosperous modelling career was at its lowest point when he left Love Island. He claimed that the program “caused more harm than good.”

He continued, “I lost all my clients and I had to start from scratch,” in a social media post. He did, however, manage to restart things just last year and instead used his position and experience to assist upcoming models in navigating the difficult industry.

He stated last year, “Facebook to 2024 and I’m back doing what I love, a career that allows me to travel, collaborate with creatives, and connect with global brands.” Some of my life’s most gratifying tasks have come to me.
