US Supreme Court allows ban on transgender troops to take effect

While legal arguments continue against the restriction, the US Supreme Court has allowed a ban on transgender military personnel to be implemented.

A lower court’s injunction that had halted the ban from effect was lifted on Tuesday by the court’s conservative majority, which was unsigned.

The Supreme Court’s three left-leaning judges, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson, also sought to deny the urgent request for the injunction to be lifted.

President Donald Trump has attempted to restrict transgender people’s access to the US, including through restrictions on military service, since taking office for a second term on January 20.

Trump signed an executive order declaring that only “male and female” would be recognized by his administration on his first day in office. He also revoked a military order that was issued by his predecessor, Democratic candidate Joe Biden, on the same day.

Then, on January 27, he published a new directive titled “Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness.” It made a comparison between adopting a “false” gender identity and being transgender.

According to the order, such a person’s identity was incompatible with “rigorous standards required for military service.”

The executive order stated that “a soldier’s commitment to an honorable, truthful, and disciplined lifestyle, even in one’s personal life, conflicts with the adoption of a gender identity inconsistent with an individual’s sex.”

The deed of a man that demands that others honor his falsehood is inconsistent with the service member’s duty to be humble and selfless.

The Supreme Court’s order on Tuesday sparked a string of legal disputes, including the one that sparked that executive order.

Seven active-duty service members in that case argued that a transgender identity ban was unconstitutional and discriminatory.

The group’s supporters point out that the seven members of the group have collectively won more than 70 medals for their contributions. Commander Emily Shilling, the lead plaintiff, had flown 60 missions as a combat pilot for the Navy for nearly 20 years. According to her attorneys, nearly $ 20 million was spent on her training during that time.

However, the Trump administration has argued that the military is liable for the presence of transgender soldiers.

“A new MASSIVE victory for the Supreme Court”! Following Tuesday’s order, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted a follow-up to the order on social media.

A military that is focused on readiness and lethality is back, according to “President Trump and] Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.”

Hegseth also shared a brief message announcing “No More Trans@DoD” as an acronym for the Department of Defense.

The transgender troops’ ban was approved by the Supreme Court in an unsigned order.

Trump has attempted to outlaw transgender members of the military for the first time. Trump made a similar policy announcement on the social media platform Twitter, now known as X, in July 2017.

Please be informed that the United States Government won’t accept or permit transgender people serving in any capacity in the U.S. Military after consultation with my generals and military experts, Trump wrote in ellipses-spaced posts in succession.

The Supreme Court also approved that ban in 2019. Then, in 2021, Biden’s executive order made it invalid.

In its urgent appeal to overturn the lower court’s injunction that temporarily lifted its most recent ban on transgender troops, the Trump administration cited its previous success at the Supreme Court.

A judge from the US district court in Tacoma, Washington, named as Benjamin Settle, pronounced that temporary injunction. Settle, a Republican under former President George W. Bush, was appointed to his position as a former army captain.

Settle objected to the transgender service ban in March, claiming that while the government’s arguments made reference to “military judgment” in its filings, there was no “absence of any evidence” that the restriction had to do with military matters.

He wrote, “The government’s arguments are not persuasive, and this question is not particularly close to the record.”

District Judge Ana Reyes in Washington, DC, one of the other judges to have issued injunctions. The Fifth Amendment of the Constitution’s Fifth Amendment, which enshrined the right to equal protection under the law, was challenged by 14 transgender service members in a case where she ruled.

Reyes wrote in her decision, which came shortly before Settle’s in March, that “the cruel irony is that thousands of transgender service members have sacrificed – some risking their lives” to ensure for others the very equal protection rights the military ban seeks to deny them.

Less than 1% of the US military’s over 2.1 million soldiers are reportedly transgender, according to estimates.

According to a senior official, there are only about 4,200 transgender service members on active duty right now, but advocates claim that figure is undercounting the risk of violence and discrimination brought on by being openly transgender.

Lambda Legal and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, both of which support transgender service members in their campaign against Trump’s ban, have been prominent supporters. On Tuesday, the two organizations released a joint statement denouncing the high court’s ruling.

The court has temporarily sanctioned a policy that has nothing to do with military readiness and everything to do with prejudice, they wrote, “by allowing this discriminatory ban to take effect while our challenge continues.”

Intruder who smashed through Jennifer Aniston’s mansion gates and was held at gunpoint investigated over ‘stalker’ motive

After a car struck Jennifer Aniston’s massive Bel Air mansion, police are looking into “spying” intentions and holding the intruder at gunpoint until they arrived, the intruder was detained at police custody.

Police sources have disclosed further information about the man who rammed his car through the gates that lead to ‘Friends’ superstar Jennifer Aniston’s expansive mansion in Los Angeles, California.

The 56-year-old star was at home on Monday afternoon when the vehicle breached the border to her property, which was purchased for $20 million in 2012.

Thankfully, the unknown assailant was quickly apprehended by Aniston’s security team, who rushed the vehicle and detained its male driver. He was held at gunpoint until police arrived.

Initial reports suggested that the intruder, who was initially thought to be in his 70s, might have accidentally struck the actress’s gates.

Jennifer Aniston's Bel Air mansion was reportedly hit by a drunk driver, who drove up onto a curb and destroyed some of her plants
In 2012, Jen purchased a Bel Air mansion in Los Angeles for an eye-watering $ 20 million.

However, members of the LAPD Threat Management Unit have told TMZ that they are now investigating ‘bizarre’ social media posts, which could indicate a stalking motive behind the incident.

The source said they are “reviewing social media posts” made by the man before the crash, with “a Facebook page with several bizarre and rambling posts” being found under the intruder’s name.

LAPD sources also disclosed the name of the alleged intruder to the Mail. Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, who is 48 rather than the initially reported 70 years of age, has been booked on a felony vandalism charge for the damage caused to Jennifer Aniston’s property.

The Friends star is mentioned in a number of Facebook posts, one of which unfavorably refers to Aniston as his “bride.” Additionally, her full name appears on five of her posts.

Friends cast
Jennifer Aniston made a million dollars with the success of “Friends,” which ended in 2004.

The account with the same name as the intruder claims to be looking forward to “finally get to see” Aniston in one of the disturbing posts.

The post reads, “Christ Jimmy Wayne Carwyle &, Emanuel Jennifer Joanna Aniston Carwyle, TWO BEING ONE LIFE, ONE BEING, ONE FLESH, THROUGH LIFE FIXING TO FINALLY GET TO SEE YOU”!

However, it hasn’t been confirmed by the police whether this profile matches another Jimmy Wayne Carwyle or the man who was arrested following the incident.

Carwyle is being held without bail in the LA County Jail while LAPD officers investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

What specifics are there about the Jennifer Aniston home crash?

Around 12:20pm on Monday, a car broke into the gate leading to Jennifer Aniston’s Bel Air mansion, causing visible damage to and hanging off the gate.

Aniston’s security team quickly apprehended the intruder and quickly detained him until police and paramedics arrived. After the accident, the man was initially taken to a hospital where he had been treated by paramedics at the scene.

According to an LAPD spokesman, Officer Jeff Lee reported that the police rushed to Aniston’s home after receiving a call about a “burglary” and that the man “ran his car through the gate to the residence.”

Because the gate is a short walk from the expansive 8, 500 square foot leafy compound, Aniston did not confront the intruder during the distressing incident.

The car crash was the second time an intruder has attempted to gain access to the Friends star’s home. In 2015, just three years after she bought the mansion for $20 million, a vehicle smashed through the property’s border.

A security guard reportedly called the police right away after the incident, and the man claimed he wasn’t driving at the time when police arrived.

‘Thank you Inter & Barca’ – the game nobody wanted to end

“It gave us everything. From start to finish last week to this week, everything about this semi-final has been pure entertainment,” said Alan Shearer.

For the second time in six days Inter Milan and Barcelona served up a European classic as the champions of Italy won 4-3 on the night – 7-6 on aggregate – to reach the Champions League final.

In a thriller that will be remembered for years to come, Barca had trailed 2-0 and 3-2 in the first leg in Catalonia before salvaging a 3-3 draw.

On Tuesday in Milan, they were then 2-0 behind at half-time – 5-3 on aggregate – before scoring three times without reply.

Raphinha’s 87th-minute strike was the first time Barca had taken the lead on aggregate but Francesco Acerbi’s first European goal at the age of 37 took an utterly absorbing tie into extra time, with substitute Davide Frattesi scoring the winner to send more than 70,000 Inter fans inside the San Siro into raptures.

It was the joint highest-scoring Champions League semi-final ever, with the 13 goals equalling the 2018 semi-final when Liverpool also defeated Roma 7-6 on aggregate.

“We didn’t expect this, did we?” added former England captain Shearer, who was inside the San Siro for Amazon Prime.

“We expected a good game, but this? Thank you Inter Milan, thank you Barcelona for providing us with incredible entertainment and two great football matches.

“What we have witnessed has been something very special. It’s been a pleasure to be here.”

Inter will face either Paris St-Germain or Arsenal – who meet in the other semi-final in France on Wednesday (20:00 BST) – after one of the great modern classics.

‘My head was spinning’ – Inter ditch clean sheets for goals galore

No neutrals wanted this tie full of twists and turns to end but, when Polish referee Szymon Marciniak sounded the final whistle at 23:38 local time, Inter Milan’s players sank to their knees exhausted but triumphant.

They remained on the pitch for a good 15 to 20 minutes after full-time to show their appreciation to their delirious fans, who can start booking flights and hotels for the final in Munich on 31 May.

“Inter were heading out, they were done,” added Shearer.

“They somehow found a way to get themselves into the final. They deserve to be there.”

Inter’s success in this season’s competition has been built on dogged resilience and clean sheets.

Not against Barcelona.

They conceded more goals against the La Liga leaders over 210 minutes than they had in their opening 12 matches in this season’s Champions League put together.

The three-time winners had kept eight clean sheets in all, with Switzerland goalkeeper Yann Sommer recording seven of those.

On Tuesday alone, Barcelona peppered Inter’s goal with 22 attempts – 10 on target – and scored three times in the space of 33 minutes.

But Inter dug deep to go through with substitute Davide Frattesi scoring his side’s extra-time winner.

Will there finally be another Italian winner after ‘amazing night’?

It is 15 years since Inter – managed by Jose Mourinho at the time – were crowned champions of Europe. No Italian side has won the Champions League since that victory over Bayern Munich in 2010.

Will that change at the end of the month?

While they weren’t necessarily the obvious choice to win this year’s competition, before a ball was kicked Opta did rate them as third favourites to go all the way behind Real Madrid and Manchester City. With both of those teams already out, Inter are now in the box seat.

And they went back in time to reach their second final in three seasons.

The 2023 runners-up to Manchester City are unbeaten in 16 home games in the Champions League – their longest undefeated run on their own turf in Europe since the 1980s.

“It was an amazing night,” said Inter boss Simone Inzaghi. “One to share with our fans, our club and our families. The players did something extraordinary.

“We played four amazing games against two world-class teams like Bayern [in the quarter-final] and Barcelona. It was great to celebrate this achievement here with our fans.”

Inter’s Netherlands defender Denzel Dumfries ended with two goals and three assists over the two legs against Barcelona.

“A crazy match again! Seven goals today… it was incredible,” said Dumfries.

Italy midfielder Frattesi added: “After the game in Munich, I thought I would never experience anything like this again in terms of emotions.

Inter defeat Barcelona by equalling Champions League semifinal record

After Francesco Acerbi had saved Inter Milan from the brink of elimination with a stunning equalizer deep in added time, Francesco Acerbi scored a stunning equalizer with a stunning equalizer in extra time to send his side to the Champions League final.

Inter won a rip-roaring and record-equalling 7-6 aggregate victory in the ages semifinal with the Italian side reaching the Munich final thanks to Frattesi’s goal and a string of stunning saves by goalkeeper Yann Sommer. They will face either Paris St.Germain or Arsenal on Wednesday in a game later this month.

In the first 45 minutes, Inter dominated and took the lead with a goal scored by Lautaro Martinez on the counter in the 21st minute before Hakan Calhanoglu doubled the lead with a penalty just before the break.

In the second half, Barca responded with Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo scoring within six minutes to equalize the lead. Despite Sommer working his magic to keep the hosts alive, the Catalans believed they had won the game thanks to Raphinha, who struck from close range in the 87th minute.

However, as Inter made a desperate run for an equalizer, Denzel Dumfries found 37-year-old Acerbi inside the box and fired a first-time effort into the net to add a second-half equalizer to his 20th-year European record.

Marcus Thuram’s brilliant run from the right led to Frattesi’s excellent delivery into the bottom corner, which he skillfully guided into the corner.

Lamine Yamal’s teenager Lamine Yamal saved two world-class saves for Inter, who will now seek to win their fourth Champions League title and their first in 15 years, after losing to Manchester City in the final two years.

“I’m pleased that I finished the game. Frattesi told Sky Sport, “I screamed so loudly that I could see everything gone.”

I dedicate my victory to the physiotherapists because I have been struggling lately. I have no words to describe how incredible it is. The incredible occurred tonight.

After winning the Copa del Rey by defeating Real Madrid in extra-time, Barcelona will now have to concentrate on LaLiga, where they will face their old foes, who are currently four points clear of them.

Eric Garcia, a Barca defender, told Movistar Plus, “Football has been very cruel to us.” The character this team displayed was outstanding even after we were down 2-0 once more.

This has been a fantastic year for our team, which is made up of young players. The Spanish league is still open for play.

Katie Price says she ‘wants a man who’s been around the block’ in ‘gross’ admission

Katie Price has made an open statement about what qualities she seek in a man, claiming that she wouldn’t date someone who has “only slept with two or three women.”

Katie Price claims she would never date a man who has only had two or three dates.

Katie Price has revealed what she looks for in a man, and she isn’t holding back. The former glamour model, 46, who is currently dating Married at First Sight star JJ Slater, 31, revealed she wanted a man “who has been around the block”.

The mother of five has always been open about her love life, and has had a number of high profile relationships before Peter, most notably her marriage with Peter Andre. Since her split from the Mysterious Girl singer, Katie has tied the knot with Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler.

Now, the star is opening up about what she likes in a partner. Speaking on the Disruptors Podcast, Katie said: “I like to know they’ve been around the block. I’d rather a man know what they’re doing. If someone hadn’t had many, I wouldn’t really like that – isn’t that weird!”

Katie then claimed that a man “who’s been there and done it knows what they want” and that she inquires about potential partners’ number of sexual encounters. Imagine that two or three girls are completely unaware of their actions.

However, not everyone agrees with Katie, who claimed that her friends accuse her of being “gross” and that they wonder why she would want a man “who’s been everywhere.”

Katie’s comments come after she said her turbulent love life, which has included eight engagements and three divorces, has finally led her to meeting “The One.” On her Katie Price Show podcast, she said that boyfriend JJ Slater not only fits perfectly in her life, but he’s been a hit with the whole family.

However, JJ had to demonstrate his family status when Katie’s brother-in-law, Harry Brooks, who is married to her sister Sophie, said, “What… another one?”

Katie continued, “Healthiness in a relationship is having the ability to work, go out with your friends, and not question one another.” You obviously want someone to care, but I’ve noticed a significant shift and a significant difference in the relationship I’m in now compared to all the other relationships I’ve been in. And so far, so good.
