The 45-year-old singer revealed that he has been diagnosed with clear cell renal carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer that has already spread to his lungs.

“Hi everybody, it’s Brad, from 3 Doors Down”, he begins, his voice steady but emotional. “I hope you’re having a great day today. Um, got some not so good news for you today”.

He went on to explain how recent illness led to a hospital visit – and an unexpected, life-changing discovery.

Syria’s al-Sharaa confirms indirect talks with Israel amid soaring tensions

Syrian’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa says his government has engaged in indirect talks with Israel in an attempt to ease escalating tensions between the two nations.

The announcement comes after an escalation in Israeli attacks on Syria last week, including a strike that landed just 500 metres (1, 640 feet) from the presidential palace in Damascus on Friday.

Israel claimed its most recent air strikes were a response to what it described as threats to the country’s minority Druze community.

“There are indirect talks with Israel through mediators to calm and attempt to absorb the situation so that it does not reach a level that both sides lose control over”, al-Sharaa said, reiterating blame on Israel over what he described as its “random interventions” in Syria.

He also said Damascus was talking to states that communicate with Israel to “pressure them to stop intervening in Syrian affairs and bomb some of its infrastructure”.

There was no immediate comment from Israeli authorities.

Al-Sharaa’s remarks come during a landmark visit to Paris, his first trip to a European country since assuming office after he led opposition fighters in a lightning offensive that toppled longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad in December.

The visit required a special exemption from the United Nations, as al-Sharaa remains under international sanctions due to his previous role as leader of the armed group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a former al-Qaeda affiliate.

Lifting sanctions

Speaking in Paris after meeting President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace, al-Sharaa called for the lifting of economic restrictions on Syria, stating: “Nothing justifies maintaining sanctions imposed on the previous regimes”.

President Macron said France would consider gradually lifting European Union sanctions if Syria continued along its current path.

“I told the president that if he continues on his path, we would do the same, namely by first progressively lifting European sanctions, and then we would also lobby our American partners to follow suit on this matter”, Macron said.

The European Union has already lifted some restrictions, while other measures targeting individuals and entities are set to expire on 1 June. Sanctions relief in sectors such as oil, gas, electricity and transport remain crucial for Syria, where the World Bank estimates reconstruction of the country could cost more than $250bn.

Despite some easing of sanctions by European countries, the Trump administration has been more reserved in its approach to the new Syrian administration.

Macron revealed that he is urging the United States to delay its planned military withdrawal from Syria, arguing that lifting sanctions should be prioritised as a step towards ensuring long-term stability.

Al Jazeera’s Natacha Butler, reporting from Paris, said, “In return, Macron expects Syria’s new government to protect minorities, ensure stability and crack down on what he called terrorist organisations, including ISIS”.

Coleen, the wife of former footballer Wayne took to social media to reveal that she had secretly been plotting a sting operation after a string of stories shared on her private social media had been leaked to the media. The Liverpudlian narrowed down accounts with access to her posts in order to discover which account was leaking the information.

In 2019, Coleen took to social media to reveal: “It was….. Rebekah Vardy’s account,” after she had blocked her followers from seeing her Instagram Stories. The posts included a fake story that she was heading to Mexico for gender selection, as well as eyeing up a stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

After Coleen’s “reveal” of Rebekah, the wife of footballer Jamie Vardy strongly denied the allegations and implied that her Instagram account had been hacked.

Rebekah later launched a defamation case against her former pal Coleen for her social media post which she claimed had defamed her. However, a hearing at The Royal Courts of Justice on Tuesday this week heard that Rebekah must pay almost £1.2million.

A specialist costs court has previously been told that Coleen , the wife of former England striker Wayne, ran up a legal bill totalling more than £1.8 million after she successfully defended Vardy’s High Court claim in 2022. In written submissions for a hearing on Tuesday, Mrs Vardy’s barrister, Juliet Wells, said that Mrs Rooney’s total legal bill of £1,833,906.89 “has now been settled at £1,190,000, being c.£1,125,000 plus interest of c.£65.000”.

Ms Wells continued that Mrs Rooney is now claiming “assessment costs” of more than £300,000, which she described as “grossly disproportionate” and should be capped at “no more than £100,000”. The full amount of the assessment costs will be determined at the hearing before Costs Judge Mark Whalan, who said he was “pleased” that the two sides had come to a “commercial accommodation”.

Both Rebekah and Coleen were absent from the remote hearing.

Molly-Mae Hague has appeared to have finally officially confirmed that she’s back with her ex-fiancé Tommy Fury as she shared an emotional birthday tribute to him on Wednesday.

Professional boxer and former Love Island star Tommy is celebrating his 26th birthday today – and unlike last year, Molly-Mae, 25, didn’t miss out on marking his special day.

Taking to her Instagram stories on Wednesday evening, Molly-Mae finally put the rumours to bed about her and Tommy’s relationship status as she penned an emotional birthday message.

The social media megastar, who shared two-year-old daughter Bambi with Tommy, shared an adorable photo from the family’s recent trip to Dubai.

After admitting that the getaway to Dubai was ‘the best holiday of her life’, Molly-Mae delighted fans as she shared a snippet into her and Tommy’s time with Bambi in the United Arab Emirates.

Alongside an adorable snap of Tommy embracing Bambi while watching the sunset, she wrote: “Happy Birthday to you. You make our little girls world light up.”

Molly-Mae and Tommy shocked fans when they ended their relationship last summer. However, the pair seemingly reunited at the beginning of 2025 when they were pictured sharing a New Year’s Eve kiss, and have since enjoyed holidays to Dubai, Budapest and UK staycation spot Center Parcs.

While they didn’t disclose the reason for breaking up at the time of their split, both Tommy and Molly-Mae have since revealed it was the boxer’s unsteady relationship with alcohol that caused a downward spiral.

During previously released episodes of Molly-Mae’s documentary, she admitted Tommy’s drinking had taken a toll on her and recalled “begging and pleading” him not to drink during family occasions, including her sister Zoe’s wedding. The Maebe founder also admitted she “couldn’t remember” any moments where his drinking didn’t end in “disaster.”

The pair announced their split through individual Instagram statements back in August. “Never in a million years did I think I’d ever have to write this,” Molly-Mae told her 8 million followers at the time.

“After five years together I never thought our story would end, especially not this way. I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end.”

“I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority.”

Molly-Mae reached out to her followers with a heartfelt message as she added: “I want to thank you all for the love you have shown us over the last five years. You have all been a part of our journey and I feel it’s right to share this with you all. Whilst I attempt to navigate the coming days and weeks, please kindly respect my privacy over this difficult time. I’ll be back when it feels right. Molly-Mae x.”

Tommy then posted on his Instagram as he wrote “I am heartbroken to share that Molly and I have decided to end our relationship. The past 5 years have led to us having our beautiful baby girl, Bambi and I will be forever thankful to Molly for making me a dad.”

At the time, he concluded his post by saying: “Bambi is our priority. Please respect our privacy, and our families privacy, as we navigate our way through this difficult time”.
