Meghan Markle gets back at Piers Morgan with savage gift to his rival

The Duchess of Sussex has made sure to get back at Piers Morgan for years of abusive comments thrown her way as she surprised his rival Alex Beresford with lavish gifts

Meghan Markle made a savage move at Piers Morgan

Meghan Markle has proved where her loyalties lie as she got back at Piers Morgan thanks to a savage gift. The Duchess of Sussex has found herself at the centre of Piers’ world for years as she’s been the subject of many claims from the broadcaster.

The controversial TV presenter is known to slam the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and even sensationally quit Good Morning Britain after ranting about the former actress in 2021. Last month, Piers was quick to watch a few moments of Meghan’s new Netflix show before slamming her.

He branded the series ‘unwatchable’ after watching only a few minutes of it. Piers said: “I tried watching it, and after, honestly, about three, four minutes, I was done. It was just unwatchable. It’s just the ultimate kind of vanity project, where it’s all about people telling Meghan how great she is, her telling everyone how great she is.

‌”It’s not even her house. She’s doing things like making coffee, making a basic cake. There’s nothing to actually learn here. And it’s interesting to me that in Britain, they’re incredibly unpopular, her and Harry. I mean the most unpopular Royals, which, when you think we have Prince Andrew, is pretty extraordinary to go under that bar.”

In the show, Meghan introduced her new range of products and made sure to send Piers’ rival a present in an effort to make a very clear dig at the broadcaster.

Good Morning Britain’s Alex Beresford shared a snap on his Instagram of a jar of Meghan’s raspberry spread. He declared: “Can’t wait to try this! Thank you so much @meghan…”

Meghan even went a step further and sent a large Jelly Cat octopus teddy bear to Alex’s newborn daughter as he gushed: “…And for Camille’s sweet gift.”

Piers lost his job on the ITV morning show after clashing with Alex over Meghan. He dramatically left the show back in 2021 after receiving 41,000 Ofcom complaints over his comments about Meghan.

Speaking about the Duchess of Sussex’s Oprah Winfrey interview in which she opened up about her mental health struggles, Piers said that he “didn’t believe a word” of her admission.

He also took issue with Meghan’s claims that there were “concerns and conversations” over how dark Prince Archie’s skin colour would be, before he was born.

Piers was confronted by weather presenter Alex over his comments the following day, with Piers storming off set after their heated conversation. Alex said: “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle [Piers] – you’ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme, a number of times. I understand you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one, and she cut you off.

“She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has, but yet you continue to trash her.”

Taking issue with this criticism, Piers butted in, announcing: “OK, I’m done with this” as he strode off set, barking: “You can trash me mate, but not while I’m [inaudible].” He announced his sudden exit from GMB shortly after.

Charlie Sheen now – HIV update, ‘dire’ money woes and cheap fan videos

Charlie Sheen seemed to be on top of the world as one of the best-paid actors in Hollywood, but behind the scenes he was dealing with an HIV diagnosing and a crushing drugs habit

Charlie Sheen found himself blacklisted from Hollywood after his behaviour got out of hand(Image: Ken McKay/ITV/REX)

Charlie Sheen used to be one of the most successful actors on the planet, raking in millions for his roles in sitcoms and films. Starting out in the 1980s, the New York-born actor had decades of success and was even honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – but it all came crashing down in 2011 when his mental health and drug issues spiralled out of control.

At the peak of his career, Charlie, now 59, got a very cushty job as the leading man in the CBS show Two and a Half Men, for which he was eventually paid a whopping £1.3million per episode. But suddenly, everything fell apart and he was fired from the show and blacklisted from the rest of Hollywood.

After taking a break from the show to go to rehab, Charlie demanded a 50 percent pay rise and branded boss Chuck Lorre “a stupid, stupid little man and a p**sy punk that I’d never want to be like.” Needless to say, the move got Charlie sacked – but it did nothing to slow him down as he admitted to taking more drugs “than anyone could survive” in the aftermath of the axing.

Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men
Charlie Sheen made over a million per episode on Two and a Half Men, but was axed after his drinks and drugs issues came to light and his behaviour made him ‘uninsurable’ on set

After his sacking and a failed stint in sitcom Anger Management, work soon dried up for Charlie, with one studio executive claiming the star had become ‘uninsurable’. Then in 2015, the cause of Charlie’s behaviour became clear when the he revealed he’d secretly been diagnosed with HIV four years earlier. Having squandered ‘millions’ to keep blackmailers quiet, the father-of-five admitted he used drugs and booze to cope with diagnosis.

“It was the only tool I had at the time, so I believed that would quell a lot of that angst. A lot of that fear. And it only made it worse,” he said. “It was to suffocate the anxiety and what my life was going to become with this condition and getting so numb I didn’t think about it.”

So what is Charlie up to these days? Despite the fallout of his career and major tension in his family, he found love again in 2017 with model Julia Stambler, 32 – who also happened to be the nanny for his twin boys Max and Bob. According to TMZ, Julia told a friend she was ‘not scared’ of Charlie’s diagnosis and that they were taking anti-viral medication and using protection as part of an active sex life.

Charlie also shares daughter Cassandra, 40, with his high school girlfriend, daughters Sami, 21, and Lola, 19, with Denise Richards and 17-year-old twin boys Max and Bob with Brooke Mueller, from whom he split in 2010 a year after being charged with misdemeanour assault against her.

But while his romantic life was on the up, his fiscal life had taken a nose dive and Charlie was threatened with losing his Beverly Hills mansion over a reported unpaid £60,000 mortgage bill. Desperate to shift the luxe property, Charlie slashed £3.4million off the original asking price, accepting an offer of £6.4million on the seven-bedroom home earlier this year.

He also went to court in 2018 to seek a reduction in his child support payments to ex-wives Brooke and Denise Richards, explaining that he was in a ‘dire financial crisis’. In court documents obtained by The Blast, he said he had “been unable to find steady work, and [has] been blacklisted from many aspects of the entertainment industry”.

In 2020, he started selling personalised greetings for birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations through the Cameo website at a bargain price of £332. However, in terms of his health, life has never been better. After years of battling addiction, Charlie finally got sober in 2017 after being unable to drive his daughter to an appointment because he’d been drinking.

“It just hit me that I knew it was time to make a change – and you know, it didn’t require some crazy rehab stint or a shootout with the cops. It didn’t require anything super-dramatic and crazy and front-page news,” he said. “To this day, I am not sure how I created such chaos and wound up in that headspace. It’s as though there was some alien or demonic possession going on.”

As for what the future holds, for Charlie, his health is what matters the most. “I try not to think too far down the line, you know?” he told US Weekly. “I made some changes to give myself a shot to do some cool things professionally. And I’m proud of finally being consistent. And reliable. And noble.” He said his HIV viral load is now ‘undetectable’.

While focusing on his health, Charlie’s life is still full of ups and downs. He hit headlines when he shared his true feelings about his daughter Sami making adult content on OnlyFans, and shocked fans in 2023 when it emerged that his neighbour had strangled him after a longstanding feud. However, he also seems to be getting back on the acting horse again, reuniting with former boss Chuck Lorre for a recurring guest role in the comedy series Bookies – suggesting that the years of bad blood might have come to an end.

Al-Shabab battles Somalia’s army for strategic military base

According to the government and a military official, al-Shabab fighters have fought Somali troops and allies to take control of a strategic army base in southern Somalia.

As it tries to extend recent advances made in the area, the al Qaeda-linked group would be able to cut a crucial road between the capital, Mogadishu, 200 kilometers (124 miles) southwest, and the central Galmudug State by capturing the base in Wargaadhi town, which houses soldiers, special forces, and clan fighters.

Al-Shabab frequently targets government officials and military personnel in opposition to the Somali government for more than 16 years. The government denied the claim, saying in a statement that its fighters had taken control of the base and Wargaadhi town.

More than 40 people were killed by government forces trying to attack the base on Thursday morning, according to a statement from the Ministry of Information.

However, an officer in the army Hussein Ali claimed that after “fighting, the armed group” had taken the town of Wargaadhi.

“Our forces lost 12 men, primarily [clan fighters]. According to Ali, “around 20 al-Shabab fighters have also been killed.” However, al-Shabab received more reinforcements and was able to seize the town.

He added that because it would require using routes through al-Shabab-held areas, Somalia’s military was having a hard time sending reinforcements.

By midmorning, two soldiers who were quoted by Reuters claimed that air-based government forces had been able to recapture a portion of the town.

Both sides’ claims could not be independently verified.

continuing to be offensive

Adan Yabal, a town and logistical hub for government forces, was claimed by al-Shabab last week to be located about 220 kilometers (130 miles) north of Mogadishu.

Captain Hussein Olow, a military officer in Adan Yabaal, refuted the report, telling Reuters that government forces had pushed the group back.

Both attacks are part of an al-Shabab offensive that was launched last month. Residents of Mogadishu expressed concern that the group’s brief capture of villages 30 kilometers away from the capital might be used as a target.

As Somalia’s future of international security support appears to be getting more uncertain, al-Shabab has continued to advance in the countryside despite the fact that Somali forces have since recaptured those villages.

The AU Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia, a larger force, was replaced in February by a new African Union peacekeeping mission, but funding remains a mystery because the United States is still opposed to changing to a UN financing model.

‘I tested 13 skin tints and lightweight foundations and found a new favourite face base’

Our beauty team have put some of the best skin tints and lightweight foundation formulas to the test to see how they fare in terms of look, longevity and having a lightweight feel

Our favourite skin tints(Image: Laura Mulley)

Finding the best foundation – arguably the base of any make-up look – can be a challenge, whether you prefer minimal make-up or a full face of glam. If you fall in the camp of the former, our beauty team has been testing some of the most talked-about skin tints and lightweight foundations to see how they hold up.

Skin tints usually consist of colour pigments suspended in a water or gel-type base, which is what makes them feel super-light on the skin this makes them different from tinted moisturisers, which normally have a creamier, more hydrating consistency. “Skin tints are the sheerest base you can get, providing just a hint of colour to give you a healthy glow,” explains make-up artist Jesse Walker. “They’re perfect for your spring and summer make-up bag as they feel super lightweight and can be applied with your fingers in seconds.” These tints also often come packed with skincare ingredients and offer extra benefits like SPF, making them a must-try if you like a light base.

Jesse assures that these aren’t just for those with flawless skin, reports OK!. “If you want a bit more coverage then simply use them with your favourite concealer and pick a formula that’s buildable so you can up the coverage a little but still benefit from the light feel,” she says.

They’re not just for young skin either, as Jesse explains. “We sometimes think we need to go heavier as we get older but all ages can benefit from the radiance of a glow-packed base – and the less heavy the product, the less chance of it sitting in fine lines.”

In search of a new lightweight base? Here are the ones our beauty editors love…

Best skin tints and light foundations to buy in 2025

Best stick skin tint

Pixi On-the-Glow Base Foundation Moisture Stick, £22 from Next

Laura holding Pixi foundation stick
Laura has been putting this Pixi foundation stick to the test(Image: Laura Mulley)

Beauty editor Laura Mulley says: “The finish that this travel-friendly foundation stick gives skin is gorgeous – dewy, healthy and naturally perfected. It has a sheer coverage so it won’t cover highly pigmented imperfections or leave your skin looking completely flawless, but instead gives a ‘your skin but better’ result. If you like a barely-there finish and a juicy feel to the skin, I think you’ll love it too. You can read my full review of it here.”

Best long-lasting skin tint

Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Gel Tint, £34 from Space NK

Laura testing milk makeup skin tint

Laura says: “This skin tint blends on so well, and makes skin look gorgeous from the first swipe: smooth, glowy and perfected, but in a very natural way. What impressed me most, though, is just how well this finish lasted throughout the day. I’ve always found skin tints either disappear from the skin or turn drier as the day goes on, settling in fine lines and patches, but not this one. It doesn’t remain looking exactly as fresh as when it was first applied, but it lasts better than all other I’ve tried. You can read my full review of it here.”

Best hydrating skin tint

Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint Foundation, £49 from Sephora

A gorgeous hydrating formula(Image: Laura Mulley)

Laura says: “This is absolutely gorgeous; if it’s sheer-to-light coverage you’re after, they don’t come much nicer feeling than this. More like a tinted moisturiser, IMO, but with a touch more coverage and longevity, this feels really hydrating on the skin without looking too shiny or dewy, a feeling that lasts all day long.”

Best smoothing skin tint

Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir Foundation, was £26, now £20.80 from Boots

Kylie Jenner's Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint review
I tried Kylie Cosmetics’ new Skin Tint(Image: Faith Richardson)

Senior shopping writer Faith Richardson says: “The formula really is weightless, and as soon as it settled into my skin it barely felt like I was wearing anything at all. It gives more of a mild glow than an in-your-face shine, and although Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint isn’t full-coverage, it covered up my uneven skin tone really well.

“It also felt really nice on my skin, as it contains hyaluronic acid for added hydration – a bonus for my typically dry skin. It also helped smooth over any texture and fine lines without looking too heavy or cakey.”

Best skin tint for a sheer finish

Kosas BB Burst Tinted Gel Cream, £34 from Cult Beauty

Grace holding Kosas BB Burst Tinted Gel Cream
Ideal for those who don’t like the feel of thick foundations(Image: Grace Salmon)

Shopping writer Grace Salmon says: “I usually opt for a sheer face base such as a skin tint or tinted moisturiser instead of a high- coverage foundation, and as soon as I tried this I knew it was going to become my new summer staple. Featuring copper peptides and squalane, this hydrating formula provides a glowy, natural-looking base that feels just like skincare.”

Best foundation for dry skin

Lumene Invisible Illumination Vegan Collagen Serum In Foundation, was £19.95, now £11.97 from LookFantastic

Laura loves the healthy glow it gives to skin(Image: Laura Mulley)

Laura says: “I knew from the moment I swiped this onto my face that it was going to be a new favourite. It blends quickly and invisibly into the skin, gives a really lovely, natural glow, and has a moisturising sensation that lasts all day without ever going patchy. A great choice for all skin types except perhaps oily or acne-prone. You can read my full review of it here.”

Best skin tint for oily or combination skin

Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint, £37 from Liberty London

Laura holding Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint
A great option for combination-to-oily skin types(Image: Laura Mulley)

Laura says: “This formula from top make-up artist Lisa Eldridge isn’t specifically aimed at oilier skin types – and the final finish will depend on your skincare underneath – but I find that it sits perfectly on the oilier areas of my face, yet clings a little bit to patches of drier texture as the day goes on (nothing a quick tap with fingertips can’t sort out). It’s my no means mattifying, but it does dry down. It blends beautifully and the shades are perfection, though, as is the pebble-shaped bottle.”

Best stick foundation for glow

Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation Stick, £35 from Charlotte Tilbury

Zoe holding Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation Stick
We were one of the first to try this new launch(Image: Zoe Cripps)

Head of shopping Zoe Cripps says: “I used to exclusively wear thick foundations to cover persistent breakouts, but this year my skin has finally decided to play fair so I’ve discovered the beauty of a balm-type foundation. It glides on in seconds, gives a good amount of coverage without looking cakey and evens out blotches. If you love the brand’s Hollywood Flawless Filter, you’ll love this.” Read our full review here.

I’ve been on the hunt for a moisturising foundation that would diminish the look of lines and wrinkles while also hydrating, and this, a favourite with skin experts, delivered the results I was after. Overall I saw a huge improvement in my skin’s health.”

Maybelline skin tint
This tint has incredible staying power to last all day(Image: Maybelline)

Freelance beauty editor Jo Hoare says: “The light nature of skin tints can mean you sacrifice longevity but not with this one. Resisting sweat and humidity, it’s at the fuller end of coverage for a skin tint and has impressive staying power that stands up to a long working day or a big night out, but still gives that natural barely there look. The added vitamin C ups the brightening effect for a boosted healthy glow.”

Best skin tint with sun protection

In addition to the serious SPF benefits it’s also created with skincare ingredients including mega-hydrator Pentavitin (a plant based ingredient that can can bind moisture to the skin for up to 72 hours). Easily buildable, and doubling up as a primer it’s also ideal for those of a sensitive skin nature as it contains no alcohol, fragrance or oil.”

Fullkrug West Ham outburst ‘not helpful’ – Potter

Images courtesy of Getty

West Ham manager Graham Potter believes Niclas Fullkrug’s most recent outburst was ineffective and that players should be able to voice their concerns behind closed doors.

After West Ham conceded a late equaliser at home to Southampton last weekend, Fulkrug accused several of his team-mates of not listening to Potter.

The 32-year-old expressed his “very angry” feeling about the lack of motivation in his team-mates.

Before West Ham’s Saturday game against Brighton, Potter said, “I think he wears his heart on his sleeve.”

“In some ways, I would disagree with him, but in others, I would disagree.”

He is, however, entitled to his opinion. We’ve had a lot of open conversations as senior players. And for me, having the conversations in private, rather than public, is preferable.

Then, as a group, we move forward. That is the situation. You must be truthful. You must be able to express your opinion. That is certain. Then you have to consider the team as well.

We are accountable to both the team and the club. And from my point of view, I occasionally have the ability to come clean about my feelings. However, I don’t believe it will help the players. It’s not helpful to the club in my opinion.

“So we must all be aware of our obligations as well,” he said.

Since Potter took over West Ham in January, the club has only collected 13 points from 13 league games, placing them 17th in the Premier League.
