UK’s Starmer says coalition to beef up Ukraine security in any peace deal

As fighting rages on the ground amid US-brokered truce proposals, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stresses the UK’s intention to offer “robust and credible” security guarantees to stop Russia from attacking Ukraine once more.

In the event of a peace agreement, Starmer said in a virtual meeting with 25 world leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, that “we will build up Ukraine’s own defenses and armed forces, and be prepared to deploy as a “coalition of the willing” in the event of a peace agreement.

We agreed that military planners would meet in the UK once more this week to discuss how our militaries could support Ukraine’s future security, Starmer continued.

Following Putin’s on Friday consenting to an immediate 30-day ceasefire that Washington had already approved, the meeting took place. Putin, however, added that there were issues. Questions were also asked about who would oversee the ceasefire and whether the pause in fighting could be used by Kyiv to recruit new forces at a time when Russia is gaining ground in Kursk. In a lightning offensive in August, Ukrainian forces occupied a portion of the Russian region near Ukraine.

Questions remain as to whether Putin’s response signaled a sincere effort to end the conflict without completely rejecting President Donald Trump’s proposal. Trump’s radical change to US foreign policy, which upends the transatlantic alliance while opening up to Russia, has so far had a significant impact on the Kremlin.

President Putin’s stated desire for peace is completely countered by the Kremlin’s dithering and delay over President Trump’s ceasefire proposal and Russia’s ongoing barbaric attacks on Ukraine, according to Starmer.

Zelenskyy pressed his Western allies to form a “clear position” on the security guarantees, including placing troops in Ukraine, shortly after the virtual meeting.

Zelenskyy stated on social media that “the contingent must be stationed on Ukrainian soil.” “This is both a security guarantee for Europe and Ukraine.”

On a number of fronts, war is stillround.

Meanwhile, there is still fighting on the ground.

Some military analysts in the Kursk region predicted that Russia would soon eject Ukrainian forces from their months-old foothold in the western Russian region, prompting Trump to warn that thousands of Ukrainian soldiers were “completely surrounded”.

Zelenskyy insisted that Moscow was assembling forces nearby for a separate strike in a statement posted on social media after receiving information from his top general. Ukraine’s leverage in potential territorial negotiations is weakened by the Kursk reversal of fortunes. The territorial issue should be analyzed in more depth at a later time, according to Zellenskyy, who spoke on Saturday.

He also addressed the conflict on the front lines of Pokrovsk, a strategic city in eastern Ukraine, and how the country had “stabilized” and successfully used a new long-range missile domestically.

Russia and Ukraine engaged in intense aerial combat, with both reporting more than 100 enemy drones flying over their respective skies. Following a Ukrainian drone attack, a fire erupted near an oil facility in the Russian Volgograd region.

Pete Wicks ‘focusing on himself’ after Maura Higgins and Danny Jones drunken kiss

After breaking up with Maura Higgins just weeks before her Danny Jones drama, Pete Wicks is reportedly focusing on himself.

The couple eventually managed to survive the alleged “cure” of Strictly Come Dancing when Pete took part in the BBC One show when the 37-year-old former The Only Way Is Essex star started dating the Love Island icon in August of last year. However, they parted ways in February, and Maura became embroiled in a relationship with the married McFly singer just weeks later.

On I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, the Irish model and influencer was one of Danny’s campmates in the Australian wilderness. they reunited briefly earlier this month at the BRIT Awards, which was captured on camera the previous year, and they did so again earlier this month. The Sun reported that Danny and Maura kissed while attending an afterparty, but they later left the venue together and met up with them for drinks at the Nobu Hotel in London.

Danny apologized publicly on social media while Maura and his wife Georgia and their seven-year-old son Cooper have kept quiet about the scandal. Danny also pleaded with fans to respect their privacy while he left the drama. Pete was spotted jetting off to Dubai after the illicit kiss clip went viral, and a source told MailOnline that despite being booked in advance of the controversy, the reality star enjoyed being able to escape the drama.

“Pete has left and was completely taken with Maura.” According to the source, “he feels indifferent about the drama that is currently involving her,” adding that Pete is “focusing on himself and enjoying a break in the sun” before returning to the UK for work commitments.

Fans were surprised when Pete appeared to criticize Sam Thompson’s behavior at the BRIT Awards in a recent episode of his podcast Staying Relevant. So, there were many events at the BRITs, and there were also many other events. He teased, “I’m probably going to leave that out because… A lot happened at the BRITs, but we’re just going to move on and we’ll tell you about our BRIT’s experience.”

During his podcast with best friend Sam, Pete made the cryptic remarks about his ex.
During his podcast with best friend Sam, Pete made the cryptic remarks about his ex.

“Our BRITs were fantastic. Sam laughed as Pete cryptically stated, “Nothing happened there… for us. We had a lovely BRITs experience.” However, we had a great time at the Universal Afterparty, where we drank a few beers and drank some alcohol. After Sam told him that they “did it right,” he then landed himself in hot water, where Pete placed his head. No, no, no, no, no, other people did it improperly.

Sam laughed as he attempted to explain himself after later clarifying his remarks to save Pete’s blushes. You don’t want to stay at these parties for too long, I say that. We arrived early, left the BRITs a little early, and arrived there before the crush occurs. He had a few drinks, had a great time, spoke to lots of people, and then left at around 1 a.m., which is the ideal time to rest before things start to get a little messy, he grinned.

Trump administration mulls new travel ban that could hit dozens of nations

The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering a new travel ban that is expected to affect citizens of dozens of nations in various ways, according to The New York Times.

According to the report released on Friday, which quoted anonymous officials, the US government’s draft list included 43 nations, broken down into three different travel restrictions.

A full visa suspension would be set for the first ten nations, which includes North Korea, Iran, Syria, Iran, and Syria.

In the second group, five nations, including Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, and South Sudan, would be subject to partial suspensions that would impact both student and tourist visas as well as other immigrant visas, with some exceptions.

If their governments “do not make efforts to address deficiencies within 60 days,” the draft memo stated that a total of 26 countries, including Belarus, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, would be taken into account for a partial suspension of US visa issuance.

Under the condition of anonymity, a US official who spoke to Reuters reported to the Reuters news agency that Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State, could be one of the list’s members.

On January 20, Trump issued an executive order mandating increased security screening for foreigners entering the country to identify threats to national security.

A list of nations that should be partially or completely suspended from travel by March 21 was ordered by the order, which mandated that several cabinet members submit a list of these countries by March 21.

The US president’s executive order was a part of a comprehensive immigration crackdown he launched at the start of his second term. In a speech from October 2023, he pledged to impose restrictions on residents of the Gaza Strip, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, and “anywhere else that threatens our security.”

The Supreme Court in 2018 upheld Trump’s first-term ban on travel for citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries, which was later refuted by the latest travel ban proposal.

2027 Poll: ‘Join SDP’, El-Rufai Urges Atiku, Obi, Aregbesola

Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, has resisted the possibility of a potential merger and has urged former vice president Atiku Abubakar, former labor party candidate Peter Obi, and others to appoint members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

This came after he resigned from the All-Progressive Congress (APC) on March 10 because his party’s values were at odds with the ruling party.

El-Rufai recently pleaded with the politicians to join the SDP in order to defeat President Bola Tinubu in 2027 in an interview with BBC Hausa.

The Presidency stated on Friday that Tinubu’s current focus was not on the 2027 general election but rather how to improve every Nigerian’s economic situation.

In a statement on X on Friday, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications stated that “President Tinubu is not concerned about the upcoming election. He worries about Nigerians’ ability to share their wealth.

He worries about whether the changes he has in place will have the necessary effects. He is concerned about what ultimately happens to this nation’s economy. That is the main topic. Our foreign reserves have increased, they say. Inflation has decreased, too. Our trade surplus has increased.

“We’ve seen imports decrease while exports increase.

“We’ve seen the investments that attracted more than $50 billion,” he said. Prices are slipping, too.

“He has continued to make the decisions he has made, and you have clear data, and you have a president who is clearly in the driver’s seat.”

“And I believe that he is not currently really in favor of the upcoming election.

At the conclusion of his first term, he can look on and say, “I have had an impact on the lives of Nigerians. I’ve stabilized this country’s economy.

El-Rufai, however, requested that the trio of Obi, Abubakar, and Aregbesola form a political alliance with him in order to win the 2027 elections during the interview with the BBC.

Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf, and all opposition leaders should join SDP, he said, “but I also ask you to refrain from forming a new political party.”

“It hurts me that the government I supported and trusted would succeed because we witnessed what Tinubu did in Lagos despite his difficulties,” he said.

We are all familiar with his problems in Chicago, but we felt free to support him if he could do it in Lagos. He lacked courage, though.

Read more about Tinubu’s concerns over the 2027 election and presidency.

El-Rufai made it clear that his presidential political goals in 2027 would depend on the party’s and the people’s will.
