Arsenal Must ‘Stick Together’ In PSG Showdown — Odegaard

After their recent failures, Martin Odegaard has urged Arsenal to “stick together” in their decisive Champions League semifinal clash with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The Gunners travel to Parc des Princes with the difficult task of defeating the French champions for the second time in their history.

After Ousmane Dembele’s winner in north London, Mickel Arteta’s side trailed 1-0 from the opening match.

After defeating Manchester City in the group stage, PSG has already defeated Premier League leaders Liverpool in the last 16 and Aston Villa in the quarter-finals.

After a disappointing first leg that had the potential to bring home a heavier defeat, Arsenal, who have never won the Champions League, are on the verge of taking on PSG’s current English title.

With a 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, they couldn’t have done much worse. They had already made preparations for the second leg of the competition.

After two agonizing losses, Arteta claimed Arsenal was full of “rage and anger.”

However, Gunners captain Odegaard said they can use those feelings to fuel a rousing triumph over PSG as long as no fault is made with the poorly timed slump.

We’re disappointed now, but we must move on, be courageous, persevere, and get ready for a big game, Odegaard said.

It is a massive game, it says. That is advantageous. You can use all those emotions into Wednesday when you are upset and angry right now.

We are aware of our goals. We must work together, create energy, and be prepared. ”

Arteta risked the fitness of his key players by making just two changes against Bournemouth, which raised eyebrows.

Jurrien Timber and Mikel Merino were the only ones who did not face the Cherries, Arteta revealing that the Dutch defender will have to pass a fitness test before his place in the PSG game is decided.

a “Massive performance”

Second-placed Arsenal still needs to win two of its previous three league games to advance to the Champions League next season.

Arsenal’s current tournament schedule is what is currently attracting its attention, though.

After finishing last year’s season as the Premier League’s runners-up to Manchester City, Arteta and his players are heavily burdened by Arsenal’s failure to capture its first title since 2004.

Arsenal couldn’t keep up with champion Liverpool because of injuries and inconsistent form from their forwards.

Arteta is desperate to turn Arsenal’s undeniable quality into silverware, despite not having won any awards since winning the 2020 FA Cup.

Real Madrid and Arsenal cruised to a 5-1 aggregate victory to defeat them in the Champions League quarter-final this year.

However, disappointment is a constant in the North Londoners’ European history.

Alan Smith scored the winner in the 1994 Cup Winners’ Cup final, Arsenal winning the team’s final European trophy.

Despite winning numerous awards during Arsene Wenger’s reign, Galatasaray lost to the Frenchman in the 2000 UEFA Cup and Barcelona lost to Barcelona in the 2006 Champions League.

In Unai Emery’s brief tenure as manager, Arsenal also lost to Chelsea in the 2019 Europa League final.

Arsenal hope that George Graham’s men’s 1994 Cup Winners’ Cup success will be a positive sign for Wednesday’s game.

31 years ago, the Gunners defeated a PSG side led by George Weah and David Ginola in the semi-final, but they won 2-1 on aggregate.

One of the greatest outcomes in the history of the club will be achieved if Arsenal can overcome the current PSG generation’s deficit.

What was at stake was unmistakably clear in Arteta’s rallying cry.

He claimed that the current state of rage, anger, frustration, and stomach aches are all things.

So make sure we use that on Wednesday to perform well in Paris, triumph in the game, and advance to the final. ”

Israel has turned 70% of Gaza into no-go zones, in maps

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Israel has restricted Palestinians’ access to 70% of Gaza by declaring large areas to be no-go areas or is issuing forced displacement orders.

The Israeli military has been putting pressure on the area’s southern Gazan governorate since late March, making the majority of the region a no-go zone. Nearly all of Gaza City is in the north under similar orders, with only a few small pockets in the northwest still exempt. Exclusive areas along the Israeli border and east of the Shujayea neighborhood have been designated as restricted areas.

Since violating the ceasefire on March 18, Israel’s military has increased its forced displacement orders, according to the animated map below.

Israel’s occupation of Gaza

In a new ground offensive that will see Israeli troops occupying seized territory, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, more than two million people in Gaza will be “moved” on Monday, establishing a “sustained presence” there.

The cabinet’s decision to appoint 60 000 reservists and appoint the Israeli military to handle Gaza’s starving population’s need for food and other essential supplies was unanimously approved.

Territocratic control is a priority for Israel.

According to Al Jazeera correspondent Tareq Abu Azzoum, who was reporting from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, Palestinians view the Israeli ground offensive and the reoccupation of a large portion of the country as a form of collective punishment and an attempt to alter Gaza’s demographic and political landscape.

Many Palestinians are aware that any political solution prioritizes territorial control, and many also shared their concern and panic over the possibility of returning home.

They also contend that Israel is attempting to suffocate civilians in Gaza and not just to destroy Hamas’ military capabilities, as the Israeli military spokesperson and Netanyahu have said.

Israel will accomplish this by combining military strategies with humanitarian language, including an expanded ground offensive, and a tightening of its influence on Gaza’s aid flow.

However, many Palestinians shared a common and obvious defiance feeling. Despite the cost, there are many messages on social media that proclaim people’s resolve to stay in Gaza.

Gaza is “extremely vulnerable to famine.”

Without any food left in markets and distribution centers, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Gaza is “extremely vulnerable to famine.”

Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem accuses Israel of “using starvation as a method of warfare” in Gaza. According to the renowned rights organization, children make up the majority of those who are currently being starved by Israel.

The population is again at risk of famine, according to the PRCS in its most recent situation update.

More than a million people who have been displaced are unable to meet even the smallest daily needs, the statement read.

The food stocks used by the PRCS for displaced people have now “completely dwindled,” with “limited amounts of legumes” being “distributed to community kitchens to meet some of the basic needs of displaced people.”

Wales great Halfpenny linked with Beziers move

Leigh Halfpenny, a former Wales and Irish Lions back, is being linked with a move to French second-tier club Beziers.

The 36-year-old’s contract with Harlequins’ English Premiership side expires at the end of the season.

The full-back or wing has only had 562 minutes of playing time over the course of 10 appearances this campaign, despite the fact that Quins head coach Danny Wilson is a proven supporter of the experience and mentoring opportunities Halfpenny offers.

Halfpenny is a familiar face to French rugby. He first joined Toulon from Cardiff in 2014, spent three years with them, and won the 2015 European Champions Cup, before making a second move to Wales to join Scarlets in 2017.

Following the switch to Harlequins for this season, a 2023-24 Super Rugby Pacific season with New Zealand side Crusaders was a result of an injury-hit Super Rugby Pacific season.

Beziers, one of France’s fallen giants, has ambitious plans to advance to the top 14 league.

Halfpenny won 102 caps for Wales and also participated in four Test matches for the Lions, including winning the series MVP award in the 2013 Lions’ 2-1 victory over Australia.

Before the start of the Club World Cup, Real Madrid wants to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The England defender has confirmed that he will leave Liverpool when his contract expires later this summer. He is expected to become a free agent with the Spanish club.

The Club World Cup begins 16 days before Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool expires on June 30.

According to what BBC Sport is aware of, Real have spoken with Liverpool in order to work out a deal to bring Alexander-Arnold forward so they can prepare for the Fifa-organised tournament in the United States.

The Spanish club is reportedly considering a release offer of around €1 million (£850,000) from Alexander-Arnold early in his contract.

Real may also be willing to pay Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold’s wages as they try to find a solution, it has been suggested.

All parties’ discussions are characterized as friendly discussions.

Fifa, the world’s oldest football organization, has confirmed that there will be a short initial transfer window this summer that will allow competing clubs to update their squads in time for the competition.

After all the other guests had arrived, Rihanna donned a deconstructed black ensemble, a cropped jacket, polka dots, and a wide-brimmed hat, and headed out on the red carpet. She savored the camera as she cradled the bump.
