Meghan Markle’s Netflix show savaged by Princess Diana’s pal who gives brutal verdict

A biographer pal of Princess Diana has given her scathing view on Meghan Markle’s Netflix show.

Tina Brown, a former editor of Vanity Fair and Tatler, claims that With Love, Meghan, which dropped on the streaming platform last week, shows the Duchess of Sussexes ‘ “unerring instinct for getting it wrong”. Tina, also the author behind the book The Diana Chronicles, also said Meghan is “behind the curve” and has never figured out a convincing persona”.

It has been a week since With Love, Meghan, which sees the Duchess of Sussex share tips and tricks when it comes to cooking and hosting, was released and savaged by critics.

But despite it being viewed as a make-or-break moment for the Sussexes, who signed a multimillion-pound deal with Netflix in 2020, it was revealed that it will be returning for a second season in the autumn with filming for it already taking place.

Tina, who also wrote the bestselling book The Palace Papers in 2022, was believed to have been a pal of Diana’s with the two women having lunch together in 1997, just two months before the princess’s untimely death at the age of 36.

And, writing in her Fresh Hell Substack newsletter, Tina said:” Meghan has come out with a show about fake perfection just when the zeitgeist has turned raucously against it. Trump’s America is a foulmouthed and dishevelled cultural place where podcasters in sweaty T-shirts, crotch-rot jeans, and headphones achieve world domination on YouTube. “

And she added:” All Meghan had to do was shut up and wait. Go quiet for a couple of years, start a family, keep her eyes trained on the splendid royal real estate that would soon come up for grabs. “

It’s not the first time that Tina has had harsh words for Meghan and her husband Prince Harry. Last year she made scathing comments about them in a podcast, where she described the Duke of Sussex as” always going to leave the Royal Family “and claimed the Duchess of Sussex has” the worst judgment of anyone in the entire world”.

Her comments come as the second season of With Love, Meghan is coming in the autumn and has already finished filming, according to Netflix. Meghan posted on her Instagram stories on Friday with a video of her wearing a hat with the writing” lettuce romaine calm “on and grinning, then turning and putting her hands in the air.

The caption on the Instagram story said:” Lettuce romaine calm… or not (!) because I’m thrilled to share that Season 2 of ‘ With Love, Meghan ‘ is coming! “

The story was shortly followed by a post on her Instagram with a reel with clips of her cooking and the caption:” Oh, how I love ASMR! If you’re loving Season 1, just wait until you see the fun we cooked up on Season 2! “Thanks for joining the party, and an endless thanks to the amazing team and crew who helped bring it all to life! @netflix”.

Kylie Jenner used this colour correcting face cream for her awards season beauty looks

With several red carpet appearances already under her belt this year, it’s no surprise that Kylie Jenner has got her awards ceremony beauty routine down to a fine art. One thing her makeup artist Ariel Tejada made sure to have in her beauty kit was the Erborian CC Red Correct – Colour Correcting Anti-Redness Cream With Soothing Effect SPF25, which acts as an instant colour corrector for red skin.

The Erborian colour corrector was the perfect pick for creating a flawless base for Kylie’s skin, with MUA Ariel wanting to create a dewy, natural-looking effect. The hero product was just the thing to create a smooth, even-toned base on Kylie’s skin, allowing the rest of her makeup products to shine.

The Erborian CC Red Correct will set you back £41 for a 45ml tube, and does more than just provide coverage for redness. It actively reduces puffiness, creates a smooth, even-toned finish and helps to neutralise redness at the source, rather than just covering it up.

Glycerin and tiger grass extract help to deeply moisturise and plump your skin, whilst antioxidant-rich vitamin E reduces the look of blemishes and imperfection. The Erborian CC Red Correct adapts to your skin tone, with subtle green pigments blurring together to tone down red pigments in your skin.

By leaving your skin looking luminous and radiant, the Erborian CC Red Correct is a great primer before using your usual foundation and concealers, or to be worn on its own for a more natural every day look. It currently has a 4.74 star rating on LookFantastic, with one writing: “Really does what it says. Perfect as a light foundation or primer”.

Another added: “I am so glad I found this product. As someone with pale skin, I struggle to find things light enough for my skin. The technology behind this product is phenomena l- it really does colour match, lasts all day and makes skin feel silky smooth”.

Someone else wrote: “I really do rate this product. I’ve always used the Dr Jart version but I find this one even better. I only need a little for my whole face &amp, it totally evens out my skin tone &amp, covers any redness I have. Worth the money as it will last me a while”.

One did say, however: “I use this as a base underneath my foundation to combat redness. It works but I wouldn’t say it warrants the hefty price tag”.

But yet another happy customer put: “I’ve tried multiple products for redness over the years. I’ve seen this and put off buying due to cost however a tube has lasted me nearly 6 months and it’s incredible! No breakouts, no irritation. Really comfortable and sorts out my redness associated with rosacea”.

Of course, the Erborian CC Red Correct isn’t the only colour correcting makeup product out there. One of the most well-known ones is the DR. JART+ Moisturizing Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment, which you can currently pick up at Amazon for £16.70 where it has more than 2000 five star reviews.

Another option is Beauty Pie’s Superluminous Redness Corrector, £20. This not only colour corrects, but actively soothes and hydrates sore, tight skin and cares for super dry skin, giving it extra hydration and nourishment.

‘Change must come’ – MPs call for RFU review

Bumper executive pay coinciding with the demise of historic clubs and financial pressure on the grassroots game should prompt an independent review into the Rugby Football Union, according to a group of MPs.

Tiverton and Minehead MP Rachel Gilmour, whose father David Wrench played for England, Northampton and Harlequins in the 1960s, said the situation was a “travesty” and “financially unsustainable”.

“The governance of rugby union in this country is on shaky ground – it is clear there are serious structural issues at play”, she added.

“Change must come. For the good of the game, the governing body must adapt”.

“It is incredibly important that the Government step in and start looking at the governance of the game, otherwise there will not be a game to govern”, added Edward Morello, MP for West Dorset.

Premiership sides Wasps, London Irish and Worcester Warriors went out of business during the 2022-23 season, while the last set of accounts from the top-flight clubs showed collective losses of £30.5m and net debts of more than £300m.

Morello added that reports that that London Irish would seek to return to the game in the United Rugby Championship – a competition featuring Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Italian and South African sides – rather than the Premiership was “a damming indictment of the mismanagement” of the league.

The RFU revealed record losses of its own in November, with the same set of accounts also showing chief executive Bill Sweeney was paid a total of £1.1m, made up of a salary of £742, 000 and a £358, 000 bonus.

Sweeney faces a crunch vote on 27 March, with the RFU’s membership of grassroots clubs deciding whether to back his proposed reforms or demand he steps down.

An RFU spokesperson said the organisation’s own review, which is taking advice from outside the sport, should be allowed to report before any government intervention takes place.

“We agree that governance reform is a critical part of creating a better relationship between ourselves, our clubs and all of our stakeholders, with much stronger engagement and collaboration as to how the game is run”, they said.

“That’s why the RFU Council has already established a Governance and Representation Reform Review, with a view to introducing new structures with far greater flexibility and devolved decision making than is possible today. The review is ongoing and should report in the coming months”.

A Football Governance Bill, which would establish an independent regulator for the men’s professional game in England, is making its way through parliament.

MP Stephanie Peacock, Under Secretary of State for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, said it was not yet planning anything of similar scale in rugby.

Most of the world’s population is breathing dirty air: Report

Most of the world’s population is breathing polluted air, with only seven countries meeting World Health Organization (WHO) air quality standards last year, according to a new report.

Switzerland-based air quality monitoring database IQAir unveiled its findings on Tuesday, which draw on data from 40, 000 air quality monitoring stations in 138 countries, finding that Chad, Bangladesh, Pakistan, &nbsp, India and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have the most polluted air in the world.

Of the countries analysed, only Australia, New Zealand, the Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Estonia and Iceland met WHO’s international air-quality standards, according to the database.

Data gap

The scale of the problem might be far greater than reported, given that many parts of the world lack the monitoring needed for more accurate data. Across Africa, for example, there is only one monitoring station for every 3.7 million people.

The data gap could grow wider following an announcement by the US Department of State last week that it will no longer make public the data it gathers from its embassies and consulates around the world.

Many developing countries have relied on air quality sensors mounted on US embassy and consulate buildings to track their smog levels, but the US State Department is now ending the monitoring scheme, citing budget constraints.

“Most countries have a few other data sources, but it’s going to impact Africa significantly, because oftentimes these are the only sources of publicly available real-time air quality monitoring data”, said Christi Chester-Schroeder, IQAir’s air quality science manager.

Christa Hasenkopf, director of the Clean Air Program at the University of Chicago’s Energy Policy Institute (EPIC), said at least 34 countries will lose access to reliable pollution data after the US programme closes.

The State Department scheme improved air quality in the cities where the monitors were placed, boosting life expectancy and even reducing hazard allowances for US diplomats, meaning that it paid for itself, Hasenkopf said.

As a result of the State Department’s move, more than 17 years of data were removed last week from the US government’s official air quality monitoring site, airnow. gov, including readings collected in Chad.

According to the report, Chad and Bangladesh had average smog levels more than 15 times higher than WHO guidelines last year.

Chad was ranked the most polluted country in 2022 due to Sahara dust as well as uncontrolled crop burning.

Climate change is playing an increasing role in driving up pollution, Chester-Schroeder warned, with higher temperatures causing fiercer and lengthier forest fires that have swept through parts of Southeast Asia and South America.

Wales ‘ unified world champion Lauren Price says she expects to become an undisputed champion by the end of the year.

The 30-year old outclassed and outpointed Natasha Jonas at the Royal Albert Hall to add the Englishwoman’s WBC and IBF welterweight world titles to her WBA crown in her ninth professional fight.

Olympic gold medallist Price is now set to attend the grudge rematch between WBO champion Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan in Las Vegas on 30 March as she targets the winner.

“I am hoping to fly to Vegas to watch the fight and I will be hoping to fight the winner before the end of the year with all the belts on the line”, Price told BBC Sport Wales.

The contest between Mayer and Ryan has become a grudge affair following their first fight in New York in September, where Mayer triumphed on points.

Before the contest Mayer claimed Ryan had stolen her trainer and Ryan then alleged Mayer’s team organised a pre-fight incident that saw Ryan covered in paint outside of a hotel, claims Mayer’s camp denies.

Price intends to be at the rematch and says she has no bad blood with either fighter and used to be friends and housemates with Ryan.

“I wouldn’t say were enemies and I wouldn’t say were friends. Obviously Mikaela works for Sky Sports as well and she commentates for my fights and I guess when you’re in the boxing world it’s a bit mad”, she said.

“You’re civil I suppose and I’ll respect anyone who gets in the ring with me”.

Price has a closer relationship with Ryan.

“Me and Sandy used to be really good friends. We shared a house together and were on Team GB together so it is a mad game, but at the end of the day it is a business and if you want to be the best you’ve got to fight anyone”, she said.

Following her destruction of Jonas, Price says she is excited for the future of women’s boxing, having extended her deal to be promoted by Boxxer and appear on Sky Sports.

When asked as to how many times she expects to fight this year, Price was unequivocal.

“Three, that’s what’s in my contract”, she added.

“I’ve just extended my contract with Boxxer so I’ve signed another two-year deal so I’m looking now to box in August and December this year”.
