Leeds Rhinos asked them to overturn Sunday’s contentious defeat to the Birmingham Panthers, but the Netball Super League (NSL) has said it is “conducting a review.”
The Panthers won 71-69 at Worcester Arena, but the Rhinos believe they should have won in regulation time.
In the final minute of the game, Joyce Mvula appeared to have scored a two-point super shot that would have brought Leeds to a level playing position.
After the death, the Rhinos hoped they had won by scoring a one-pointer.
The visitors later discovered that the visitors had received only one point for the mistake they had made.
Mvula appeared to shoot from the two-point area of the shooting circle in response to Rhinos’ claims in replays.
In the final five minutes of each quarter, shooters could score two-pointers from a marked-out area thanks to the introduction of the super shot.
The game was tied at 59-59 due to the one-point decision, which shocked Leeds fans who were obviously shocked and lost in extra time.
Geva Mentor, a former England captain who plays for the Leeds Rhinos, posted a message on X calling for the NSL to “save the integrity of our sport.”
Although the NSL confirmed to BBC Sport on Tuesday that it was reviewing the incident, how the organization might handle the unusual situation is still a mystery.
The match officials are not equipped with any video technology during games.
Leeds Rhinos Netball said in a statement that they had filed an appeal with the competition’s Netball Super League to contest the outcome of their round 8 game against the Birmingham Panthers.
The game ended in regular time, which is what the appeal is based on.
After the controversial rapper stormed out of an interview once more, Piers Morgan slammed Kanye West.
The former Good Morning Britain star posted a picture of a miserable-looking Kanye on Instagram to break the news. “Update: I spoke with Kanye West once more today,” Piers wrote.
Given what I’ve said recently about him, it didn’t go as planned or go as planned. Before I could ask him why he has turned into a hate-slathering, Nazi-loving, and anti-Semitic prick, this was him right before he stomped off like a big baby. Later deleted from @piersmorganuncensored.
In the comments section, there were various opinions. However, journalist Rosanna Lockwood praised Piers, calling his caption, “The caption to end all captions,” along with a hands clapping emoji.
Kanye has previously appeared on Piers (TalkTV) for the first time.
However, another person responded to Piers, “I love this and ur honesty piers but u also stormed off like a big baby.”
Piers has frequently conducted challenging interviews. On TalkTV three years ago, Piers and the rapper who legally became known as Ye sat down for a conversation. The pair were having a heated discussion at the time.
In a more than two-hour long interview, both stars made no mistakes as they tried to make their points across. However, one incident, in which the Donda hitmaker left the scene, seems to prove too much.
Ye’s walk-out left the team facing “quite a struggle to come and get him back,” Piers claimed at the time. However, he later revealed that he was pleased the musician made another appearance.
He remarked to the cameras, “I’m glad I did because we ended up where he believed he wanted to go. He apparently intended to make amends for the harm he had caused and the actions he had taken. But until the very end, he was too excited and proud to go there.
At the time, Piers criticized Kanye West as racist, “horribly homophobic,” and “pro-Hitler.” Since then, the rapper has since made a number of offensive statements and comments on social media and doubled down on his previous statements.
Ye once more focused on his ex-wife Kim Kardashian in a recent expletive-filled rant on social media. The contentious rapper, 47, took to Twitter to criticize his 44-year-old ex-wife over their co-parenting arrangements.
Ye’s most recent outburst was a result of his ongoing dispute with his ex-girlfriend Kim. In 2021, the reality TV star divorced the rapper.
He declared he was ready to “go to war” with her in March, sharing and later deleting threatening texts sent to his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

Seven Pakistani army soldiers have been killed when their vehicle was targeted by an improvised explosive device in the southwestern province of Balochistan, Pakistan’s military says, blaming India for the attack amid rising tensions.
Pakistan’s military said members of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) armed group targeted the vehicle carrying the soldiers in the province bordering Iran and Afghanistan on Tuesday.
It described the group as an “Indian proxy”, but it did not provide any evidence to support its claim. There was no immediate comment from New Delhi or the BLA.
An unnamed senior local government official told the AFP news agency the vehicle that was hit was part of a convoy on its way to a security operation.
He said five people were wounded and taken by helicopter to a military hospital in the provincial capital, Quetta.
More than 200 people, mostly members of the security forces, have been killed in 2025 by armed groups in Balochistan and neighbouring Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, according to an AFP tally.
At least 31 people, many of them soldiers, were killed in March when the BLA hijacked a train carrying more than 400 passengers while travelling from Quetta to the northern city of Peshawar.
The bombing of the military convoy was carried out amid heightened tensions between nuclear-armed Pakistan and India after a shooting attack in India-administered Kashmir’s Pahalgam region on April 22 that killed 25 Indian tourists and one Nepalese citizen.
India blamed Pakistan for backing the “terrorist” group that carried out the attack, a charge Islamabad has denied.
After the Pahalgam attack, India and Pakistan have taken a series of steps against each other with Pakistan warning that India may be preparing to launch military attacks.
The two countries have suspended trade, shut down a land border crossing, closed off their airspace to one another, expelled citizens and diplomats, and India has suspended a key water treaty.
On Tuesday, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with the deputy prime minister, foreign and defence ministers, and the military chiefs visited the headquarters of the Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence, the country’s top spy agency, to attend a security briefing.
Pakistan has conducted two missile tests in three days while India has announced plans for civil defence drills across several states on Wednesday that will include air raid sirens and evacuation plans.
The two countries also aired their grievances during a United Nations Security Council meeting in New York on Monday.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has emphasised the need to avoid a military confrontation that could “easily spin out of control”.
“Now is the time for maximum restraint and stepping back from the brink”, he said on Monday.

Canada’s trade with the United States has tumbled in March, but a surge in exports to other countries have helped make up the downward shift.
Exports to the US dropped by 6.6 percent during the month while imports from the US fell by 2.9 percent amid growing public discontent towards Canada’s longstanding ally and top trading partner, according to data released by Statistics Canada on Tuesday.
Total exports fell by 0.2 percent in March mainly on lower prices whereas imports tumbled by 1.5 percent.
Canada’s trade deficit shrank from 1 billion Canadian dollars (US $1.4bn) in February to 367 million Canadian dollars (US $506m) in March. Its trade surplus with the US fell to 6.1 billion Canadian dollars (US $8.4bn).
“This decline was almost entirely offset by a significant rise in exports to countries other than the United States”, the agency said, highlighting a 24.8 percent surge in overseas shipments. Canada increased exports of gold to the United Kingdom, crude oil to the Netherlands and various goods to Germany.
Exports of motor vehicles and parts also increased amid US tariffs targeting the auto sector. Exports of pharmaceuticals and uranium to the US as well as pork to Asian markets declined. Natural gas exports also fell.
Steel exports dropped while aluminium exports rose for a fourth straight month. Imports of steel declined, but imports of aluminium grew as both products face 25 percent US tariffs.
Analysts have warned that the full effects of the tariffs have yet to be seen. Canada should “brace for increasing headwinds to trade as the worst of the trade conflict is expected to take place over the coming quarters”, TD Economics analyst Marc Ercolao said in a research note.
Carney and Trump meet ,
The trade data was released the day Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met with US President Donald Trump in Washington, DC, to discuss strained trade and security ties.
Carney won last week’s elections on a pledge to stand up to Trump and his America First agenda. He said the strained relationship between the two countries can never be the same again.
The US imposed broad tariffs on Canadian goods at the beginning of March before announcing several reductions and exemptions even as tariffs on cars, aluminium, steel and potash stayed in place. Canada has taken countermeasures to counteract.
Gabby Marshall was on a spinal board in the back of a West Midlands ambulance when it dawned on her – through the fug of a second concussion in a month – that this might be the injury that would end her sporting career.
On Tuesday morning she made it official.
After three weeks of severe headaches and discombobulating fatigue, the 29-year-old captain of Birmingham Panthers kissed goodbye to her life in netball at a tearful team meeting, concluding there was no other choice she could have made.
It was not how “devastated” Marshall envisaged the first year of Netball Super League’s much-vaunted professional era turning out for her.
Rather this, though, than a worst-case scenario further down the line.
She told BBC Sport: “I dread to think, after a rest period and recovery for this one, if I was to then step on court again and be in the same situation again.
“I dread to think of the symptoms I would have because this one has been quite scary and quite difficult.
“It’s a tricky decision to come to because you never want your career to end like this.”
Marshall was concussed for the first time this season in Birmingham’s opening game against Leeds Rhinos on 14 March.
It left her feeling nauseous for days, but she completed return to play protocols and was feeling fine when she lined up to face leaders London Pulse on 13 April, only for a collision in the third quarter to end her game and ultimately her life as a professional athlete.
Marshall was attempting to catch a pass when she collided with Pulse goalkeeper Darcie Everitt and hit the deck, the back of her head banging against the court at Worcester Arena.
The match was paused for 20 minutes as Marshall was treated and taken away to hospital for checks and a CT scan.
Those showed up clear, but Marshall has endured a dismal time since.
She is seeing a neurological physiotherapist as she looks to lead a normal life again.
“I was quite unwell for the first 10 days or so, not really able to do very much, and I’m not back to normal yet but I’m better than I was,” she said.
She recalls being in the ambulance, helpless.
“You think, ‘oh wow, I’ve just had one particularly big head knock and now the second one’,” said Marshall.
“I’ve got a medical background from studying physiotherapy at university, so I was well aware of the dangers of having two concussions quite close together.
“I’ve had a couple earlier in my career as well, so I was quite aware it’s a very serious injury. I had an MRI yesterday.
“There’s a misconception with concussions where perhaps people think it’s a little bang to the head and you’re going to be OK afterwards.
“Hopefully I do make a full recovery, but this one’s been quite scary.
“There’s been quite a lot of fairly severe headaches, intense pressure in the head, unable to look at any screens, read anything.
The Mancunian, who played at centre and wing defence, is described on her Panthers profile as the team’s “beating heart”.
Previously with Manchester Thunder and Severn Stars, she represented England at youth level.
Injuries to both ankles waylaid her in the past, but not like the concussions.
Athletes in other sports, such as football, rugby, boxing and American football, have suffered long-term damage to the brain through repeated head trauma.
“With this, you’re a bit of a prisoner to your own brain. You can’t read a book, or you can’t go out to a coffee shop because it’s too over-stimulating,” Marshall said.
“That’s the scary nature of this injury and why I’ve come to this decision.
“I told the girls this morning at training and it was quite emotional. I’m devastated.”
What comes next for a woman who had been all in on netball, relishing being at the domestic pinnacle of a sport that has plans for large-scale growth in the next decade?
“I don’t really know,” she said. “I’m sure as one door closes, another will open.”
Marshall doesn’t harbour any ill feeling towards Everitt, who was given a two-minute penalty following the collision.
“I’ve had communication with Darcie since the incident. She was going for the ball and it’s one of those things. It happens,” Marshall said.
Former EastEnders star Ross Kemp might be a well-known face on TV – but he prefers to keep his private life out of the spotlight. Here’s everything we know about his love life
Ross is the latest star to appear on Who Do You Think You Are?
Ross Kemp is back on screens this week, researching his ancestors for the hit series, Who Do You Think You Are? But how much do you know about his family life at home? From his rollercoaster first marriage through to the arrival of his four children, we’ve taken a closer look at the EastEnders star’s private life away from the cameras…
Rebekah Wade
Ross met his first wife, Rebekah Wade, at a golf tournament when she was deputy editor of News of the World and he was starring as Grant Mitchell in EastEnders. The couple got engaged in 1996, but in 1997 took a brief break ‘due to work pressures’. They soon reunited and, in June 2002, they got married in Las Vegas.

They encountered a rocky relationship, and Rebekah later revealed that their marriage was a ‘rollercoaster’, with her admitting to having an affair. They separated in 2006 and divorced in March 2009. That same year, Rebekah married racehorse trainer Charlie Brooks.
Speaking about her split from Ross, she said: “I think we were both working incredibly long hours… in completely different industries. The whole relationship was a bit of a roller coaster. Sometimes it was really good, and sometimes it wasn’t so. I think that’s how he would describe it.”
Renee O’Brien
In 2012, Ross married his second wife, Australian-born Renee O’Brien, and the couple remains happily married to this day. The family like to keep their personal life private, and little is known about Renee. But Ross has briefly spoken about his wife in the past.

While discussing his intense filming schedule, the former EastEnders actor revealed his guilt about leaving his family. He told Metro Online: “Guilt, I think that’s part and parcel of it. But I think, my wife didn’t really know me from my soap days […] So when we [he and Renee] first got together, she just thought I was some kind of grumpy old bald bloke like in a bar – and she’s probably right about that today, I’m still a grumpy old bald bloke in a bar.”
In an interview on the Plot Twist podcast in 2022, he went into more detail and explained why his marriage has lasted. “Renee’s pretty practical, she’s Australian, she’s a lawyer, she’s very straight. She’d never seen EastEnders. She had no idea I was Grant Mitchell or anything like that and she didn’t really understand that I was doing documentaries,” Ross said.

He also revealed how he misbehaved in the early days of their relationship, but Renee ‘straightened him out’. “I’d just come back from Afghanistan when I first met her and I generally behaved quite badly the first four or five weeks,” he admitted.
“I’ve changed now, obviously, but I used to go on a bit of a bender with some of the guys, and she sort of straightened me out. But she knows what I do and you know, there’s a great saying, particularly used by mates of mine in the armed forces, which is ‘quick goodbyes and long hellos’.”
Children
Ross is a proud father of four. After his divorce from his first wife, Rebekah, he welcomed his first child, a boy, with his former partner and makeup artist, Nicole Coleman. He and Renee also share three children together; a son Leo, born in 2015, and twins Ava and Kitty, born in 2017.

Speaking to the Mail Online in 2019, Ross said: “I’m very happy I’ve got my children and wouldn’t have it any other way. I could have done it about a decade earlier though, I should’ve done.

“I was old, I was in my 40s, I was quite selfish before, in terms of you put yourself first, you look at what’s going to be best for you and that totally goes out the window when you have children, you put your children way in front of everything you do.”
