Emmerdale newcomer Bradley Riches says things are going so well on the soap that he’ll need to expand the guest-list at his wedding next year.
The Heartstopper star, 23, says he’s already invited his pals from the hit Netflix teen series and Celebrity Big Brother to his marriage to Scott Johnston next April, at an English manor house. “I’ll probably end up inviting the whole Emmerdale cast,” he laughed. “I’ll have been filming for over a year by then So, yes, we’ll definitely need to expand the guest list.”

He says that landing a role in the long-running ITV soap would have been particularly special for one family member. “It was my grandad Peter’s favourite soap. I’ve always had a special connection with Emmerdale. Maybe it was his parting gift. He’d have been buzzing.”
Bradley, who is primarily credited with playing James McEwan in Heartstopper, claims he is ignoring those who have criticised him for the new role. He says, “In this industry, you’ve always expected that, which is sad to say, about the negative comments he’s had about joining Emmerdale.” Some people won’t like it because I’m my true and authentic self. I was anticipating it: a happy, gay, autistic person, delighted to have a new job. Naturally, that has a negative component within it. However, a lot of optimism drowned it out. I’m having a truly amazing time. No one will stop me from having this experience.
In the soap he will make his first appearance as Lewis Barton next week, making him the brother of Ross Barton, played by Michael Michael Parr. “My mum was Emma Barton who was killed some years ago by Moira Dingle, who is like a second mum to Ross. I reach out to him to say I’d love to meet him and know more about my mum but when we meet, we don’t see eye to eye. I’m very to-the-point and have a thousand questions I want answered, which scares Ross. So they really don’t create that brotherly bond and I leave. Obviously, I return! For Lewis, expect the unexpected – he’s got a few secrets up his sleeve.”
Bradley claims that Michael has made it easier for him to adjust to the set. My first five weeks with Mike were spent just us two, so I have a special bond with him. He and I are like brothers, and he is very protective of me. You’re now under my wing, he says. which is so lovely. Some people were a little hostile when I announced my role, and he said, “No, this is not happening.
And he’s already looking forward to other projects, even though he’s thoroughly enjoying his time on the soap. I’m happy to be doing this because I’m learning so much from Emmerdale and it’s so quickly-paced. However, I’d really like to do Strictly in the future.

The Met Gala 2025 is here and fashion fans are eager to see the styles on show. However, the organisers are said to have been left in a panic over a potential showdown between Hugh Jackman and his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness at the annual event.
Furness is scheduled to attend The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for the first time since her heartbreaking breakup with Hollywood star. After 27 years of marriage, they separated in September 2023.
However, it’s claimed Jackman’s proposed girlfriend, Sutton Foster, could cause tense situations.
According to New Idea, it has left bosses with a headache. A source told the publication: “It’s a nightmare because no one knows if Hugh is bringing his girlfriend along.
Hugh and Sutton have been discussing posing as a couple at the biggest fashion show for months.
They continued, noting that the former couple’s “thing” has always been the past. If they crossed paths, “they went on,” which would be a PR nightmare. especially since they are hardly speaking.
The Australian producer, 69, had been married to The Greatest Showman actor, 56, for 27 years before they announced their shock split back in 2023. Since then, Deborra is said to have remained estranged from her ex husband. Meanwhile, Wolverine star Hugh has gone public with his new girlfriend, American actress Sutton, 50.
Jackman and Furness announced their split at the time in a joint statement. The separated spouses announced to their fans that they would “separate to pursue our individual growth.”
We have been blessed to have been married and husband for almost 30 years, in a wonderful, loving marriage.
We have chosen to separate to pursue our individual growth because our journey is now changing.
After confirming his new romance, several of Hugh’s friends from Australia were reportedly “disgusted” with his actions. At the time, sources toldRadar: “Hugh’s friends in Australia are close to Debs too, and they’re siding with her in all of this.
Hugh and Sutton are in a state of absolute love, even though they haven’t publicly shared their feelings. Debs feels like she was let down for the younger model, which is unfortunate.
This year’s Met Gala theme at the annual event is ‘Tailored for You’ in connection with the Costume Institute’s landmark new exhibition, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’.

British icon Dame Sheila Hancock called all UK politicians “lying gits” in a scathing dig on The One Show last night.
The 92-year-old actress appeared on the BBC show to discuss her role at the VE Day concert on Thursday. Talking to Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, Dame Sheila praised Winston Churchill, famously our prime minister during World War Two.
In a cutting comparison, she lauded Mr Churchill’s honesty and slammed the “lying gits” she believes are in office today. The actress, who has had roles in EastEnders and sitcoms including The Rag Trade, Mr Digby Darling and Now, Take My Wife, said: “Don’t you just love Churchill? He always told the truth. He said ‘we will probably be invaded, we will fight them on the beaches, we will do all that but we will never surrender.’ He never promised us anything. All the lying gits we have at the moment promise all sorts of things and he never did… I’m sorry.”
During World War Two, Dame Sheila, who was born on the Isle of Wight in 1933, was forced to flee with her family. On Thursday, she and other stars, including Dames Joan Collins and Mary Berry, will raise the memorial and pay homage to those who served and made sacrifices.

On the One Show’s couch on Monday, Ross Kemp and Sophie Raworth, a newsreader for the BBC, and Ross Kemp, a presenter and actor, were present. Sophie and I discussed plans for the concert in central London and the rest of VE Anniversary week.
Dame Sheila said she hopes the performance will highlight the need “to make a better world” in the modern day. The mother of two, who was last in BBC crime drama The Sixth Commandment in 2023, continued: “I pray that now, rather than looking back and thanking the veterans, we thank them by making sure it doesn’t happen again, and making sure that we make a better world, the only way we are going to solve the huge problems that we have in the world is to unite, love and care for one another worldwide, not within the country. That is the greatest gift that we can give for the lovely people who gave their lives for us.”
Mosab Abu Toha, a Palestinian poet who has been deported by pro-Israel organizations in the United States, has won a Pulitzer Prize for commentary.
Abu Toha was awarded the prestigious award on Monday for essays about the physical and emotional carnage in Gaza that combine detailed reporting with intimate memoir to express the Palestinian experience of the conflict. They were published in The New Yorker on Monday.
On social media, Abu Toha wrote, “I just won a Pulitzer Prize for Commentary.” Let it inspire optimism, ” It should be a tale, then.
Refaat Alareer, a Palestinian poet who was killed in an Israeli attack in Gaza in December 2023, appears to be the subject of the comment. The title of Alareer’s final poem, “If I must die, let it be a tale,” was chosen.
In 2023, Abu Toha was detained by Israeli forces in Gaza before being freed and moving to the US.
In one of his New Yorker essays, Abu Toha wrote, “I have lost many of the tangible parts of my memories, the people, places, and things that helped me remember.”
“It’s been difficult for me to make good memories. Every destroyed house transforms into a kind of album, with real people and the dead interspersed between its pages, in Gaza.
In response to President Donald Trump’s campaign to deport non-citizens who criticize Israel, right-wing organizations in the US have recently called for Abu Toha’s deportation. In response to concerns for his safety, the author has recently called off classes at universities.
I recently received a commentary Pulitzer Prize.
Let it inspire optimism
Let’s call it a tale-based picture. twitter.com/VP6RsPY6vz
The Palestinian poet claimed on the Al Jazeera podcast in December that Gaza’s feeling of incapacity to assist people was “devastating.”
“Imagine that you are in a school shelter in Gaza with your parents, your siblings, and your children,” said Abu Toha. You can’t defend anyone, you say. You can’t give them any food, water, or medicine. You are currently in the United States, which funds the genocide, though. It’s therefore heartbreaking.
On Monday, New York Times won awards in other Pulitzer Prize categories for explication reporting, local reporting, international reporting, and breaking news photography.
The New York-based newspaper won the most prizes out of the 14 Pulitzer Journalism competitions this year out of the four awards.
The honorees are chosen by a panel of academics and journalists and are annually announced at Columbia University. The award is named for Hungarian-American newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer.
The New York Times won the award for its coverage of the Sudanese conflict, defeating The Washington Post, who placed third in the category for its “documented Israeli atrocities” in Gaza, including investigations into the killings of Palestinian doctors and journalists.
Nuno Espirito Santo, manager of Nottingham Forest, stated that the quest for a Champions League spot will go “all the way” this year.
After losing to Brentford on Thursday, Forest’s top-five hopes were hampered by a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday.
Nuno is confident that his side can catch up with Forest but struggles to hold onto fourth and fifth place with Newcastle and Chelsea.
Nobody is out, they say. For certain, it’s going to go all the way,” Nuno told Sky Sports.
With favorable fixtures against relegated Leicester and 17th-placed West Ham before a potentially decisive meeting with Chelsea at the City Ground on May 25th, Forest will still have a top-five finish in its hands.
“These final few games will be like this,” the player said. Everyone is fighting for something, Nuno continued in the BBC Match of the Day. “Nervous games, tight games, everybody is fighting for something.”
“We must play with all this noise around us and adjust our reactions, read the game’s moments better, and make better decisions so the boys can settle in and play.”
Opta are less optimistic about Forest’s prospects, with statistics experts predicting that Newcastle and Chelsea will finish ahead of Nuno’s team, with Arsenal and Manchester City projected to take second and third.
With only four points available, the top five of the Premier League guaranteed a spot in the Champions League next season, keeping Manchester City third behind Aston Villa in seventh place.
Things may change in the final weeks of the campaign, but there will be at least eight Premier League teams competing in Europe next season, an increase from the usual seven.
Crystal Palace, who defeated Villa last weekend in the FA Cup semi-finals, could still qualify for Europe by defeating Manchester City in the final this month.
Liverpool (A), Newcastle (H), and Southampton (A) are at Arsenal.
Chelsea (H), Arsenal (A), and Everton (H) are at Newcastle.
Leicester (H), West Ham (A), and Chelsea (H) are Nottingham Forest.
Southampton (A), Bournemouth (H), and Fulham (A) are Manchester City.
Manchester United (H), Nottingham Forest (A), and Chelsea (A).
Aston Villa: Tottenham (H), Manchester United (A), and Bournemouth (A).
Aston Villa (H), Manchester City (A), and Leicester (H) are Bournemouth.
Brentford: Fulham (H), Fulham (H), and Wolves (A)
Wolves (A), Liverpool (H), and Tottenham (A) are at Brighton.
Eight to eleven Premier League teams will travel to Europe next season, depending on how things turn out this year.
Because of England’s better performance in Uefa’s coefficient rankings, at least five of those will play in the Champions League.
If Arsenal wins the Champions League and finishes outside the top five, which is a remote possibility, or even seven if that happens and Manchester United or Tottenham win the Europa League, that number could rise.
Next year, there are a maximum of three Premier League teams that could compete in the Europa League.
The FA Cup winners and the team that finished sixth are likely to take second place.
However, if the cup winners have already secured a place in Europe, they will face the next highest-placed team that has not yet qualified for Europe.
If Chelsea loses the Conference League and does not advance to the Champions League, a third place might be awarded.
A Premier League team will receive one Conference League spot.
Newcastle, the current host of the Carabao Cup, will win, but that could change if Eddie Howe’s side earns a place in the Champions League or the Europa League.
That appears likely given that Newcastle currently belongs to the top four.
Although this is highly unlikely, it might still occur.
Arsenal, Manchester United, or Tottenham would need to win the Champions League, and Chelsea would need to take the Conference League title, with all three winners having to finish outside the top six.
