Zoe Ball has admitted co-parenting her kids with ex, Norman Cook, can be “carnage”. The mum-of-two, 55, who shares son, Woody, 25, and daughter, Nelly, 16, with the Fatboy Slim DJ, called it quits with the Rockafeller Skank star, 62, in 2016 after 18 years together.

Zoe, who recently revealed she had a new lover, often shares snaps of the family together on Instagram, celebrating milestones, including Nelly’s 16th birthday last month. However, she admits that sharing her children’s upbringing with Norman, who still works every weekend, isn’t easy.

Speaking about the challenges of co-parenting, while insisting the former couple have been “really lucky”, she said: “I love that he is still out there, playing to the masses. We’ve been really lucky with our relationship. When he has wanted to do things, I’ve been able to say, ‘I’ll be here for that bit.’” Zoe, whose daughter sits GCSEs this summer, added: “Just for this next six months, I need to be here.”

While the presenter, who is reportedly now living with her mystery boyfriend, insisted that sometimes being a working co-parent is a joy, she admitted to The Times: “Other times it’s carnage and chaos”.

Three years ago, she revealed on her Dig It podcast with Jo Whiley that a so-called “mystery man” was residing with her in her Sussex home after her most recent public relationship with construction worker Michael Reed ended.

Although he’s frequently referred to as her “lodger,” her new interview states that she confirms her new boyfriend in an email but prefers to keep it a secret.

Zoe made more time to be with her family last year when she quit her BBC Radio 2 Saturday programme after making a comeback to the channel when she quit her breakfast show in 2024.

Johnny Ball’s daughter, who has served as the station’s voice for almost six years, made the decision to leave. She returned to the station less than five months later, taking the Saturday 1pm to 3pm slot.
