James Martin’s explosive family rift that left him in tears and sad ‘regret’ over kids

James Martin is back in the spotlight following reports he is engaged to his girlfriend of two years. We take a look at his rollercoaster life behind closed doors – including a bitter family row

Telly chef James Martin appears to have done a huge U-turn on the subject of marriage. The 53-year-old is said to be engaged to his new girlfriend Kim Johnson – despite previously saying he would never marry, and stating he didn’t “need to spend 60 grand on a day”.

He reportedly popped the question to 39-year-old personal trainer Kim over the Christmas period. He is said to have also gifted his future wife – who was previously married to Liz Hurley’s millionaire ex, Arun Nayar – a £150,000 Land Rover as an engagement present. Kim seemed to have confirmed the engagement when she called James her “fiancé” on social media. Sharping a photo of a dish James created, she wrote on Instagram: “So proud of my fiancé”.

The happy news has come as a huge surprise to fans. Up until December 2023, James was in a 12-year relationship with Louise Davies – but there was never a suggestion of wedding bells. Speaking to the Sunday People in 2019, the celeb chef said: “Marriage doesn’t interest me in the slightest, mainly because I’ve catered for so many weddings, really.

“I admire people who do it, that’s fine, but I’m quite happy. I don’t need to spend 60 grand on a day, no, I’m more than happy, thanks.” Prior to his long-term romance with TV producer Louise, who he met on the set of Who Wants To Be A Billionaire?, James famously dated James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, despite a 12-year age gap.

James’ love life hasn’t been his only rollercoaster. The star has dealt with heartbreak within his family, including an explosive rift with his father. In 2008, James fell out with his dad after he made scathing remarks about his former step-mum in the original version of his autobiography, Driven. He reportedly wrote she was “the ugliest woman he had ever met” and accused her of burning items from his childhood, including baby pictures.

After the book was serialised in the Mail on Sunday, James apologised to his dad’s ex-wife and the original edition was withdrawn from shelves. A statement at the time read: “Mr Martin accepts it was untrue to say his father’s then-girlfriend cruelly destroyed childhood mementos of him and his sister.”

James later described his autobiography as his “biggest regret” – but this did nothing to heal the rift, with James saying both father and son were “too stubborn” to make amends. He told The Sun in 2010: “The only good thing from it was the realisation I would never speak to my father again.

“I’ve accepted he will never be a part of my life. I spent 12 years trying to get on with him. You never knew what was around the corner. It was always something like getting divorced or remarried, or a new woman. It was just relentless. I thought, ‘I’ve had enough of this. I’m just going to separate completely.'”

But just last year, James revealed that he’d finally made progress in healing the rift with his dad. In an interview with Candis magazine, he movingly recounted seeing his father Ian in the audience of one of his live shows.

He described the pride and poignancy of the moment, which had taken place nearly a decade prior, when he managed to surprise his dad by booking him into the Ritz and bringing him to a performance at the Palladium.

James shared: “I got him a night at the Ritz – I think he was worried he’d have to pick up the bill! – and I took him backstage at the Palladium. He couldn’t believe his son’s name was in lights outside the theatre.”

He continued: “When I stepped on stage that evening and stood on the cross below which Bruce Forsyth’s ashes are buried, I looked into the audience and the first face I saw was my dad’s. I held it all together throughout the show but I welled up at the end. I completely lost it. The farmer’s kid had made it.”

So far, James hasn’t publicly confirmed his engagement to Kim, but he has previously ruled out the idea of marriage and spoken about his struggles around not having children. In a previous interview, James said the reason he and then-girlfriend Louise hadn’t started a family was because he was “so focused on work”. But he admitted missing out on being a dad was the “biggest low”.

“The biggest low of my career is that I’ve given up everything for it,” he told Prima magazine back in 2020. But he insisted he had no regrets, even though his friends are “all married with kids”. “The level of commitment it requires and the choices you have to make have a huge impact,” he admitted.

Pierce Brosnan defended as troll says his wife is ‘reason to avoid marriage’

Fans of Pierce Brosnan have criticized a vile troll who posted comparisons to photos and alleged Keely Shaye Smith’s wife as a reminder to “get married” but never get married.

Pierce Brosnan fans defend star, 72, as vile troll shares comparison snaps of ‘beautiful’ wife Keely Shaye Smith, 62, as ‘reminder to avoid marriage’

Fans of 007 legend Piers jumped to defend his wife Keely Shaye Smith, 62, after a horrific troll posted a photo of her when she met the actor alongside a recent snap – saying it was a ‘reminder to avoid marriage’

Piers and Keely, who the Bond icon tied the knot with in 2001, after tragically losing his wife of 11 years Cassandra Harris to cancer in 1991, are seen as one of the most lasting unions in Hollywood.

But on Sunday a vile online commentator on X maintained that the pair were an example of why d marriage should be ‘avoided’, in a post which included beaming images of the couple first on the red carpet at the Academy Awards in 1996, then another of them posing at the premiere of Piers’ film Mamma Mia! in 2008.

Fans were instantly up in arms at the disgusting comment, many maintaining that on the contrary, they were the poster couple for true and lasting love, in a showbiz world where relationships can often be shockingly short-lived.

One enraged fan wrote, “I don’t get some men on X devotion to degrade Brosnan’s wife.” She was andamp; is absolutely gorgeous, and they both seem happy and gracefully aging.

Another stunned follower maintained that Pierce – who has previously responded brilliantly to trolling about his wife’s weight – has actually ‘won the lottery of life’: ‘Dude’s been married 30 years and they’ve both aged gracefully.’

Other encouraging words included: “Agreed.” You should never get married if you’re this shallow and foolish. Women are present everywhere…

She is a stunning woman, she says. How fortunate they are to have maintained that friendship for a long time. Beautiful… When you’re with the right person, he seems content, marriage is beautiful. They are fortunate … This is unacceptable.

‘ Why? They value one another and are happy. I don’t understand what you’re trying to say, do you? The worst example was impossible to choose. She appears beautiful in both photos, and both radiate organic happiness.

Why is his wife attractive, intelligent, loving, and a good-looking mother? Dear women and men. Lifelong love looks like this, exactly… Enjoy it. It is difficult to locate. But you are aware of…

Why have they been together for more than 30 years and still do so? You should be very lucky, my dude, because he’s happy and they both look fantastic together. She’s still a stunning woman, despite how gracefully some people remain ugly inside.

Together since 1994, Piers has often spoken lovingly of his marriage to Keely, and just last June admitted he felt ‘blessed’ at the life the pair had created together, which includes two sons – Paris, 24, and Dylan, 29.

He stated in the interview that Keely and I are grateful to live together as companions. And we’ve made a good life of hard work and perseverance for ourselves.

He continued, “You know, it’s just solving one problem after the other,” referring to how far the finances are going, or what your dreams are,” and explained what the secret to their lasting union was.

Keely, who went from acting into journalism and documentary-making, told People that after meeting Piers in Mexico in 1994, she was instantly attracted to the ‘captivating’ star, adding that he had a ‘mischievous sparkle in his eyes’

The actor said of his future wife in the same interview, “I found a great woman in Keely Shaye.” Would I never discover a better one if I searched it a million times?

FIFA, CAF Condemn ‘Unacceptable Scenes’ In AFCON Final, To Take Appropriate Action

FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have condemned the “unacceptable scenes” that ruined Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations final in Rabat, with CAF promising to take “appropriate action” against those found guilty.

With the score at 0-0, Morocco and Senegal were unable to win the AFCON final until late in the afternoon when referee Jean Jacques Mdala gave Morocco a penalty following a VAR review of a challenge on Brahim Diaz. &nbsp,

Most Senegalese players walked out of the stands in protest, and Moroccan security personnel and some Senegalese fans were involved in altercations.

In a statement released on Monday, CAF expressed regret for some players’ and officials’ behavior but shied away from blaming either team. &nbsp,

The organization stated that it is reviewing all the available footage and will take the matter to its disciplinary bodies.

The continent’s governing body, the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final between Morocco and Senegal, condemned the unacceptable behavior of some players and officials last night in Rabat.

“CAF firmly condemns any inappropriate behavior that occurs during matches, particularly those that targets the refereeing team or the organizers of matches.

CAF will review all footage and notify competent authorities to take appropriate legal action against those found guilty.

After being stopped by former Liverpool player Sadio Mane, one of the few who had initially stayed on the field, the Senegal players later made their way back to the field. &nbsp,

The 66, 526 fans at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium were stunned by Pape Gueye’s brilliant goal in extra time, which Senegal then won.

“Set the right example”

On January 18, 2026, Senegal supporters clash at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium during the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) final football game between Morocco and Senegal. Gianni Infantino and Paul ELLIS, president of FIFA, are photographed.

Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, also criticized the incident and described the scene as unacceptable. He criticized the supporters’ altercation and the pitch’s decision to leave.

We firmly condemn the actions of some “supporters,” Senegalese players, and technical staff members. In a statement sent to AFP, Infantino said, “It is unacceptable to leave the field of play in this manner.”

“Violence cannot be tolerated in our sport; it is simply wrong,” he said, and it is unacceptable to leave the field of play in this way.

Infantino praised Morocco on their performance as “excellent hosts” and runners-up, which is a boost given their commitment to hosting the men’s 2030 World Cup, and said the teams must adhere to the match officials’ decisions.

He said, “We must always adhere to the decisions made by the match officials both on and off the field of play.”

Anything less threatens the very essence of football, according to the saying “teams must compete on the pitch and within the Laws of the Game.”

Infantino said images like those from Sunday sent the wrong message to supporters all over the world, despite the fact that he will be hoping there won’t be any of these scenes in the upcoming World Cup finals being co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

He added that “it is also the responsibility of teams and players to act responsibly and set the right example for fans in the stadiums and millions of people watching around the world,” he added.

The “ugly scenes” of our time must be condemned and never repeated. They have no place in football, and I reaffirmed that I believe the appropriate actions will be taken by the relevant CAF disciplinary bodies.

Senegal coach Pape Thiaw admitted to beIN Sports that he made a mistake by directing the players to leave.

I realized after thinking about it that I shouldn’t have commanded them to leave. I’m sorry, Thiaw said.

Sometimes you can react while the situation is heated up. a goal that was not given was before we scored. However, we now acknowledge that referees do errors and offer our sincere apologies.

However, Morocco’s coach, Walid Regragui, was concerned about the global harm the chaotic final had done to African football.

We created an image of African football that was rather repulsive. Regragui remarked that it is not very classy to have to play the game for more than ten minutes while the world is watching.

Jennifer Lopez’s ‘rude’ Glambot moment – what really happened

Jennifer was mocked by angry viewers for acting like a “snob” and appearing to “ignore” Cole while preparing for her Glambot performance at last week’s Golden Globes.

Jennifer Lopez was accused of being “rude” toward E! director Cole Walliser poses for the Golden Globes red carpet last week. Following the backlash, Cole has now defended the singer, telling fans to “calm down” and that he didn’t take her actions personally.

Jennifer was mocked by angry viewers because she appeared to be an “ignore” Cole while he prepared her for her Glambot shot and for acting like a “snob.” In the viral video, Cole, who is in charge of making slow-motion glam selfies of celebrities with a high-speed camera, greets Jennifer and turns her back to him.

Cole explained in a video that was posted on Sunday that the actress was moving quickly and that Jen’s pose was “unfortunately” positioned so that she was facing away from him. The Canadian director claimed that “internet needs to just calm down.” “I didn’t take it personally. At the time, it didn’t feel impolite.

He continued, “I think there are a few things that have fueled this idea. One, she’s just getting started. The carpet was stowed. She is prepared to enter. She was aware of her actions. She entered the position. Just unfortunate that she was facing away from me in that position. She is looking away while I’m talking to her, but she’s getting ready to move.

I was aware of what she was doing, Cole continued. I was anticipating her arrival. I was anticipating it. We were just surviving. “That was not rude at the time.

Cole continued to say that it is up to the celeb to pose for the Glambot. Anyone who doesn’t stop [for the Glambot], he said, “I already like you because you’re taking the time to do my thing, and this is generous of you because you don’t have to do it.” Sometimes people who land on the Glambot don’t know what they’re going to do. And I’m not just talking about JLo; I’m also talking about a number of famous people from the past.

Cole emphasized that the famous people he runs are working to “promote their show, to be a guest, to be a presenter.” After the clip was released, one disgruntled follower told Jennifer to “buy some manners,” while another accused her of being such a snob. She didn’t even look at him, another said.

It is not the first time Jennifer has been praised for her professionalism. She handled a tricky situation incredibly well during a gig last November. Jennifer was praised by her fans after an unwelcome guest made its way onto the stage with her during an emotional performance.

The Hollywood star kept her cool and carried on her performance seamlessly despite a huge cricket crawling up her body and onto her neck while she was on stage singing. Dressed in a black mesh top with a criss-cross design to the chest, Jennifer, 56, looked incredible while the insect was visible crawling its way up her body in a video posted to social media by a fan.

As Jennifer finished her singing, she was delicately flicking the bug away from her neck to make it appear like it was a part of the performance before exclaiming, “I was tickling you. “Impressed fans shared the clip on social media, praising her for always being the professional despite the creepy intruder,” she said.

Tucker Zimmerman dead: Music legend dies in horror house fire

An iconic 1960s musician and his wife of 56 years died in a horrific house fire. After their Belgian home caught fire, Tucker Zimmerman and Marie-Claire Lambert passed away in smoke.

The 84-year-old died on January 17 in Liege as a result of a fire at their Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse residence. Although one of their neighbors called the emergency services, firefighters were already putting out the fire. The fire is being handled as an unintended event.

Tony Visconti, a well-known musician, shared the news of Tucker’s passing on social media. He wrote, “I just received tragic news from Tucker Zimmerman’s son, Quanah Zimmerman.

In a fire, Tucker Zimmerman and his wife passed away.
In a fire, Tucker Zimmerman and his wife passed away.

In a house fire yesterday, Tucker and his wonderful wife Marie-Claire perished. I’m stunned. In 1967, I met Tucker and Marie-Claire in London.

“Tucker was a master songwriter and musician from San Francisco. His songs were revolutionary and biting. I wrote Tucker Zimmerman’s Ten Songs, his first album, for him.

Tucker, who he called one of his “oldest friends,” was adored by British artist David Bowie, he added. We had previously made a podcast and had met several times over the years. One of my oldest friends was him. Bowie was in love with him.

At David’s Arts Lab night, David gave Tucker a masterful psychedelic light show while playing a set of his songs at the Three Tuns in Beckenham, Kent. It was like a very dark Bob Dylan song if you haven’t heard Tucker’s music. I’m completely engulfed.

“Tucker Zimmerman (Armando Gallo, Armando Gallo, Getty Images)” was reportedly “adored” by David Bowie.

The Life On Mars singer claimed that Tucker’s 1969 album Ten Songs was one of his favorites in a Vanity Fair article from more than 20 years ago. According to me, the guy is way too qualified for folk, “he said.” He has a Fulbright scholarship, studied with composer Henry Onderdonk, studied theory and composition, and wants to be Dylan.

“A waste of incendiary talent,” Not, in my opinion. I frequently wondered what ever happened to him when I first discovered this album of stern, angry compositions enthralling.

Tucker continued to record music despite David’s passing in 2016 from liver cancer. Dance of Love, his most recent album, was released in September 2024.

Tucker, who was four years old, began learning to play music when he was born in February 1941. He moved to Italy in 1966 when he was 25 years old to pursue a career in composition and released his debut album Ten Songs. He wed Marie-Claire the following year, in 1970.

From 1985, Tucker also wrote compositions for orchestras and film music as well as short stories and poems. Passing Through/Torn Formations (1988) and All Fall Down (2009) were two of the movies he co-wrote for. His music was also used in the soundtrack to David Bowie’s 2020 biopic Stardust, which had no permission to use any of David Bowie’s music.
