The captain’s back injury-plagued captain will once more be without Pat Cummins for the second Ashes Test in Brisbane.
Fast bowler Cummins missed Australia’s startling victory over England in the first Test in Perth, going without a game since July.
The 32-year-old had previously bowled in Perth’s net and once more in Sydney between Tests, and he was scheduled to make his Thursday nighttime game return.
However, Australia has chosen a replacement squad, led by stand-in captain Steve Smith, once more.
Without Josh Hazlewood, who is injured, while Australia is without the same 14 players, while opener Usman Khawaja is credited with doing so.
Cummins is alleged to have failed to complete the program needed for his return to the Test.
As he works toward a comeback in Brisbane, he will join the rest of the squad on Sunday.
Cummins will now have almost three more weeks to prepare for a potential appearance in Adelaide’s third match, which will start on December 17 (23:30 GMT, December 16).

Mitchell Starc, a left-armer, won the match’s 10 wickets and was named the player of the match in Perth. Along with all-rounder Cameron Green and off-spinner Nathan Lyon, he was joined by fellow seamers Scott Boland and debutant Brendan Doggett.
After being struck by England’s fast bowler Mark Wood while batting in Perth, Lyon struggled. Michael Neser or Beau Webster would be the replacement seamer if Australia decided to ditch their front-line spinner in Brisbane.
Since he was unable to start the innings in Perth, Khawaja’s place is being investigated.

Josh Inglis, who scored a century for Cricket Australia against the England Lions on Monday, would have the opportunity to play if Khawaja is not selected for his home ground.
