According to a former Sean Combs assistant, the music mogul frequently threatened and once kidnapped her in a jealousy of his ex-girlfriend Casandra Ventura.
The assistant, Capricorn Clark, was addressing jurors in the federal court case involving the once-famous rapper, producer, and businessman known as “Diddy,” who is accused of racketeering and sex trafficking charges that could result in life in prison.
After finding out that Ventura was seeing rapper Kid Cudi, Clark claimed he had been knocking on her door one morning in December 2011.
Combs demanded that Clark get dressed and accompany him because he had a gun.
She recalls hearing Combs say, “We’re going to kill” Kid Cudi, who actually goes by Scott Mescudi, in reference to the rapper who testified last week in Manhattan’s infamous criminal case.
Combs, a former member of the music industry’s most powerful people, was the savior of a criminal conspiracy ring that abused its influence, including with arson, kidnapping, and bribery, according to government prosecutors’ case.
Mescudi and Ventura’s accounts were supported by Clark’s interpretation of events.
Mescudi testified that his car was ignored in January 2012, a threat Ventura claimed Combs had made of the chaotic series of events that occurred in December.
– Threats, lie-detector tests
As of this writing, Clark has been the most well-known witness in the trial against her former boss.
She described rising through Combs’ corporate ladder, becoming his personal assistant, and eventually taking over leading roles at his clothing company, Sean John.
On the witness stand, Clark repeatedly shed tears, describing how he herself was the victim of a death threat from Combs, including that he demanded that she aide him in avoiding the police investigation into the Mescudi incident.
She claimed that she had a terrifying five-day-long lie detector test after Combs suspected she had stolen diamond jewelry a moment in her career.
The defense sought to undermine her credibility as a former Combs employee who continued to work despite what she described as hysterical labor abuse.
Clark claimed that she had no other job to work for Combs after a year at Jive Records before returning to work for Combs.
She claimed that Clark made it clear that she would never work again. He threatened to make me commit suicide.
Clark claimed that her work for Combs was challenging because it occasionally provided inspiring “form of business school,” but threats and fear fueled it.
She described witnessing the Mescudi love triangle between Combs and Ventura.
She would crouch more and more into the fetal position with each kick, according to Clark.
Ventura testified about alleged abuse at the trial’s opening argument hours earlier. She claimed that Combs lunged at her with a wine corkscrew after learning of her romance with Mescudi.
After she claims he coerced her into filmed “freak-off” sex marathons with male prostitutes for years, he allegedly threatened to release sexually explicit footage of her.
Ventura addressed a message to Clark that described the threat to the audience.
However, some of the messages were mixed: Clark occasionally expressed disapproval of Ventura’s abilities, talent, and work ethic.
She also cried when she claimed Ventura was to blame for the love triangle’s aftermath, calling herself “wanting her gone,” but later claimed she was also to blame for Clark’s hiring.
Next, the government intends to summon a Los Angeles-based police officer and arson investigator. Expected guests include stylist Deonte Nash and an alleged victim who was also a former Combs employee.
