Aston Martin’s late submission of their 2024 season documentation for a procedural violation of Formula 1’s cost-cap regulations.
The violation occurred because Aston Martin was required to use a contractor to sign the submission because they were ill at the time of the deadline, which was March 31, 2025.
The team kept within the cost cap while the accounts were being finished at the time.
Aston Martin have been asked to pay the costs associated with the FIA’s “accepted breach agreement” in exchange for no punishment from the FIA.
Aston Martin Racing was found to be in breach of the F1 team’s “procedural budget,” but the cost-cap level was not exceeded. The procedural breach was of a very minor nature.
Aston Martin did not profit from the commission of the procedural breach, according to the statement.
Prior to the deadline, Aston Martin still had to submit its draft documents, but not the finalized signed papers.
The cost cap was met by all nine other teams, as did all five engine manufacturers.
The 2024 cost-cap regulations defined a maximum spend per team of $135m (£106.375m).
