On Tuesday, AAP Rocky was found not guilty of two felonies related to assault with a semiautomatic weapon.

The rapper, 36, appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom to find out his fate. The star immediately ran to his partner Rihanna for an emotional embrace as the audience screamed with joy as a result.

Following the conclusion of a three-week trial that saw the rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, go free, the Umbrella singer was sat between his mother and sister. He could have served a maximum sentence of more than 20 years in prison.

As the couple left the courtroom, three-time Grammy nominee Rocky told the jurors: “Thank y’all for saving my life”, according to AP.

A $AP Relli, whose real name is Terell Ephron, was charged with two felonies of assault with a semiautomatic weapon in the Hollywood shooting of Rocky in November 2021.

Ephron claimed that he and Mayers were former members of the same rap collective in November 2023. According to the pre-trial hearing, the two former friends agreed to meet on November 6, 2021, to clear the air that their relationship struggled during Mayers’ rise to fame.

Ephron claimed that two men were waiting for him when he and his then friend met at the meeting point. According to the prosecution, Mayers pulled a gun from his waistband and fired at Ephron during a brief row between the two former pals. Ephron claims that the gun grazed his knuckles, which is alleged to have been supported by Mayers’ alleged involvement in the alleged shooting of CCTV footage.

In exchange for pleading guilty to one count, Rocky rejected a prosecution offer of just six months in jail, along with probation, and other conditions on the eve of trial. Instead, he continued to insist his innocence. In the end, jurors decided, at least, that his guilt was beyond question. After going over the closing arguments in the case for about three hours, they finally made a unanimous decision.

Rihanna took to social media to express her feelings following the court’s ruling. She wrote on her Instagram Stories: “THE GLORY BELONGS TO GOD AND GOD ALONE! THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY”! followed by an emoji for “praying hands.”
