The 3 Division, Nigerian Army, is under the command of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Wahid Shaibu, to maintain discipline, professionalism, and commitment as they pursue peace in Plateau State.

Shaibu addressed soldiers at the parade ground while conducting an operational visit to the Division’s Jos headquarters, where he convened a strategic meeting with senior officers, and commissioned renovated and office facilities.

The Army Chief noted that the state’s unique security challenges necessitated a disciplined and coordinated approach when describing the military’s role as “critical” in Plateau.

He said, “Your job here is very important to ensure that we have peace and stability on the Plateau.” You must continue to pursue the cause with discipline and commitment.

He assured staff that steps were being taken to address both operational needs and welfare concerns.

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division has given me a thorough briefing, and the majority of the issues will be resolved. We will continue to provide the enabling environment for you to perform your duties properly, Shaibu said. “Your welfare is our top priority.

He urged young soldiers to respect the chain of command and learn from their superiors while referring to the military as a structured institution built on hierarchy and mentorship.

You’ve joined the army to serve your fatherland, he said, and it’s a structured organization. You must listen to those who have stepped up before you as young men who have joined this noble cause. Your superiors will advise you on how to pursue a fulfilling career.

Shaibu also emphasized the value of discipline and physical fitness in the military, noting that soldiers must continue to be mentally alert and physically prepared.

He remarked, “Discipline is the foundation of this profession.” Ask for clarification if you’re still unclear about anything. Senior NCOs must provide the young soldiers with middle-class leadership.

The Army Chief reaffirmed the country’s recognition of the sacrifices made by soldiers in Operation Ensuring Peace while lauding them.
