The side few had dared to believe would lead to four promotions in a row now has four wins in a row.

However, it seems as though Phil Parkinson’s dressing room hasn’t been able to contain the rumors that Wrexham might be a legitimate contender for the Championship play-offs.

Wrexham are in their first second-tier football season in 43 years, despite being heavily subsidized by high summer spending. They have only played non-league football for three seasons.

The north Wales club’s 2-1 victory at Derby on Sunday, coupled with their subsequent victories pushing them into the top six, made it a festive full-house.

Given the popularity of the Hollywood-owned club, it’s undoubtedly gotten a few enthralling glances from fans everywhere.

As much as the perpetually depressed Parkinson would say about the prospect, “We certainly put ourselves in a stronger position after the Christmas period.”

However, the 58-year-old’s heartfelt celebrations at the final whistle at Pride Park suggested he would at least allow himself to enjoy the occasion, which marked Wexham’s 250th game in charge of the club and its first four in a row at this level.

However, despite the Hollywood drama that has recently come with Wrexham, no one can get carried away with the camp’s excess experience.

When asked if people could now discuss a play-off run, midfielder Matty James downplayed that the dressing room players were just thinking about each game and that we had already shown that in this short time.

“We just go out there, put on a performance, get the result, and move on.”

You know how quickly the Championship can change because we have such a long time to go.

James ought to be aware. The 34-year-old won the Championship promotion with Leicester City 12 years ago.

He also won the game at Derby, his long-range opportunist goal ending a performance Parkinson described as “brilliant” and typifying the team’s response to the hosts’ “pegged back” challenge.

And Wrexham has increased, especially given their thoroughly unimpressive performance at Swansea before Christmas.

James, a free agent signing 15 months ago and continuing his key contributions from League One’s rise last year, said, “It was about getting back on the training ground, working hard, and pushing each other.”

You can see the high competition for places, and I believe it demonstrates how experienced we are in the process. Over Christmas, the manager rotated it a little, and the new hires did a lot of good.

You are given the instruction, “You know you have to take your opportunity.”

What data are gathered from this quiz?

As the manager looks to take a deep breath from the league and thoroughly enjoy the challenge of taking on Premier League Nottingham Forest at Stok Cae Ras on Friday night (19:30 GMT), Parkinson turns to.

The top priority might be games against Sheffield Wednesday (16th), Leicester (16th), QPR (15th), and Norwich City (22nd), but James was one of those already anticipating the atmosphere and the chance that Friday night’s third-round upset presents.

Former Wales and Wrexham captain Barry Horne said, “I think Sean Dyche’s priority will be survival, so I think he’ll come with a weakened team.” What kind of story could be told by Phil Parkinson and how strong a strong team has been assembled.

Although it’s a side story, I’m aware that we won’t be relegated, or that we might not advance to the play-offs, I’m happy for him to win some glory in the FA Cup.
