Jofra Archer, who has missed the previous two Ashes Tests, has been chosen to play for England in the T20 World Cup.

The pace bowler has been selected for the tournament’s preliminary 15-man party in India and Sri Lanka in February and March, and he is recovering from a side strain.

Jordan Cox will not be able to play after Jamie Smith’s dismal Ashes series and the World Cup.

Josh Tongue, a pace bowler for England who has never played white ball, is honored for making the World Cup squad based on his ashes performances.

The World Cup could provide another indicator of the futures of head coach Brendon McCullum and director of cricket Rob Key, who were defeated in their first three Test matches against Australia and who lost the Ashes series as soon as possible.

England’s goal is to automatically qualify for the 50-over World Cup in 2027 through the play-off matches. Southern Africa will be able to place in the tournament if the top nine places in the rankings, while England is currently ranked eighth.

Harry Brook, the captain of the Ashes, leads a full-strength squad despite the tight turnaround. After the fifth Test, England departs from Australia on January 9 and travels to Sri Lanka on January 18. On January 22, there will be the first ODI.

Will Jacks, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Joe Root, Joe Root, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, and Will Jacks are all scheduled to play some white-ball matches for England in the new year.

England’s top white-ball pace bowler, 30-year-old. He was impressing in the Ashes but was forced to miss the series due to a side injury he sustained in Adelaide in the third Test.

Harry Brook, Rehan Ahmed, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Luke Wood, and Will Jacks all make the England squad for Sri Lanka’s international matches.

Smith has started nine of England’s last nine games as their one-day opener, but he hasn’t played a T20 since June. The 25-year-old struggled in the one-day matches in New Zealand that followed the Ashes before posting only one half-century in Australia.

Tongue, 28, has been England’s breakout Ashes player, taking 12 wickets in his two Test matches. He won’t play in the ODIs, but the T20s will feature him.

Cox, the top run-scorer from Hundred last year, feels let down by the loss. As middle-order batting cover, Tom Banton is given the nod.

Despite a challenging Ashes, Duckett is currently in both squads, and he appears to have the potential to bring his Test debut partnership with Crawley to one-day internationals as England attempt to find a winning combination for the 50-over World Cup.

Crawley has played eight one-day international matches, the last of which was his final List A game against West Indies in December 2023.

Root, who turns 35 on Tuesday, could have played a role in the Ashes’ final ODIs, but he only visits Sri Lanka for the ODIs. His next game of cricket is likely to be played in his native summer.

As a result of his recovery from a broken finger, Jacks, an all-rounder, missed the New Zealand tour and is now available to both teams as one of several spin options in the subcontinental climate.

In the slow-bowling division are Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson, Rehan Ahmed, and Bethell.

In Group C of the T20 World Cup, England joins Bangladesh, West Indies, and Italy’s opening team, along with Nepal. Both of their games take place in Mumbai and Kolkata.
