Social mediaAccording to police, Anthony Joshua’s driver has been charged following a collision that left the boxer in Nigeria and the death of two of his team members.
Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was charged Friday at Sagamu Magistrates’ Court. According to sources close to the case, the charges included “causing death by dangerous driving.”
Latif Ayodele, Joshua’s personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, his strength coach, both died on Monday when their car collided with a stationary truck on an Ogun state highway near Lagos.
According to a police source, Mr. Kayode was charged with four counts of causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and inconsiderate driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
The defendant was remanded pending the fulfillment of his bail requirements and was given a bail amount equal to 5, 000, 000 Naira (2, 578).
The case has been postponed until January 20.
On the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway in south-west Nigeria on Monday, Joshua, 36, was a passenger in a Lexus SUV that collided with a parked truck.

Joshua went to the funeral home where their bodies were “being prepared for repatriation,” according to the statement.
Joshua and Mr. Ayodele shared a video of him playing table tennis on Instagram just hours before the collision.
Eddie Hearn, who has been Joshua’s promoter for more than ten years, paid tribute to the team members on Wednesday.
Hearn shared the song “Rest in peace Latz and Sina” on Instagram.
Joshua, who was born in Watford, was raised in Sagamu, an Ogun state town close to the crash site.
A family member reported to the BBC that the man was traveling to town to visit relatives for New Year’s Eve celebrations when the car crashed.
After overcoming American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on December 19, the boxer had been spending time in Nigeria.
