Ant McPartlin claims that his life has greatly improved since becoming a father and that he is no longer concerned about the issues that caused him.
After overcoming his drug demons and becoming teetotal, Ant McPartlin claims to be “better man” than he was ten years ago.
The 50-year-old, one half of TV duo Ant and Dec, told how he has matured in recent years since becoming a father. He turned his life around with wife after he was convicted of drink-driving in April 2018 and cancelled TV presenting jobs for the rest of the year. He spent two months in rehab in 2017 after admitting to a painkiller and alcohol addiction.
He claimed the knee operation in 2015 caused the addiction. For Ant and Dec to deal with, the media produced some harsh headlines around this time.
Looking back, Ant said, “I’m reading about this other person who doesn’t exist.” Not me, that’s. And as long as you keep that in mind, you’ll still try to be a good man.
I’m making an effort to turn my life around, and I’m far more successful than I was ten years ago. That’s all I’m happy with. Therefore, my opinion piece won’t alter my day. However, you must truly feel self-assured. Like you must be completely aware of who you are, which is, in my opinion, incredibly challenging.
As they prepare to launch their own podcast this week, Ant and Dec spoke with friend Fearne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast. Annt also praised his wife Anne-Marie Corbett, who he had been dating since 2018 and who he married in August 2021. They are the parents of two daughters who were born in 2024 as a result of Anne-Marie’s relationship with Scott Corbett.
When she and Anne-Marie first got together, she was like a sage because she had the two girls, who were 11 and 13 when we met, and she just knew it all. And I was completely ignorant because I was a sponge and had no idea what to do. And now that Wilder has arrived, it almost seems as though she has lost all memory. We’re both starting over, which is quite nice.
Ant aslo admitted that his 19-month-old son is now “getting told off a lot for swearing” around the house.
The chat also saw Ant’s TV partner Dec opened up about his silent health battle for the first time. The I’m A Celebrity star revealed that he went to therapy about five or six years ago and found it incredibly beneficial.
The Geordie presenter acknowledged that he “can never sit down” and that he “should always be busy doing something. The pair discussed fatherhood in the podcast and how as they have gotten older, their lifelong careers have become more meaningful.
I’m A Celebrity host Dec acknowledged when questioned about his mental health that “I have a low level, constant anxiety about whether I should be doing this or what I’ve got to be doing.” I never feel like I can sit down and watch TV; instead, I always feel like I should be doing something else. There is the skepticism that I should be performing a task somewhere. I have a lot of trouble with that, trying to calm the voice in my head that says, “No, you should be using this time more productively.” About five, five, or six years ago, I had therapy. I really enjoyed it a lot. I really enjoyed it.
The Geordie duo have helmed countless prime-time entertainment programmes throughout their careers, including Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent and Ant And Dec’s Limitless Win.
Dec stated, “We always look at how can we bring the entire family together” when we’re looking at projects.
It’s a challenge to try to engage the entire family, which is a no-brainer. You have to try to engage each and every generation. We take it very seriously despite the fact that it’s entertaining and enjoyable.
Ant added: “We do the best job in the world. We have a laugh every day. We’ve hosted some turkeys over the years. It hasn’t always been a success. It’s a privilege to be in someone’s living room on a Saturday night hosting a big show.”
