Angellica Bell’s friend and former CBBC co-host Andrew Hayden-Smith has revealed the reason why Celebrity Big Brother fans haven’t heard her speak about her shock exit from ITV’s The Martin Lewis Money Show.
The presenter, 49, who has built up a huge career across children’s TV and daytime shows over 25 years was suddenly ‘axed’ from the hit show in 2023 after co-hosting it for six years. At the time, Angellica was told she was no longer required to be on the show, and was replaced by former Olympian and broadcaster Jeanette Kwakye instead.
The Celebrity Big Brother star had worked on the show since 2017, and signed up to present the rebranded version of The Gadget Show – Shop Smart, Save Money on Channel 5. It was reported that the show move presented a ‘conflict of interest’, and Angellica was swiftly cut from the ITV show.
Angellica’s husband Michael Underwood recently hinted that Angellica would open up on the matter in the house – as he replied to a curious fans TikTok comment. However, fans haven’t seen the star speak about it yet. Speaking on the topic exclusively to the Mirror Andrew that although she has no problems with addressing it, it may just be because it hasn’t come up in conversation that CBB fans haven’t heard her mention it.
When asked if he thought she would speak about what really went down, Andrew said: “Maybe, if it comes up. I did ask her if she would address it, and she said ‘yeah, if it comes up in conversation’. It happened, you know?”
ITV said at the time: “Angellica is not working on the Martin Lewis Money Show Live, however, the relationship with her remains amicable and we are working with her on other forthcoming programmes.”
Tonight, Angellica faces the public vote for the first time alongside TOWIE’s Ella Rae Wise, EastEnders’ Patsy Palmer, Love Island’s Chris Hughes and Drag Race star Danny Beard after brutal face to face nominations. In an Easter special, housemates gathered round as they were made to put their eggs into the housemates baskets they wanted to nominate.
Angellica was seen getting emotional as she nominated Patsy, telling her: “I don’t feel like you think I’m good enough. “
Things got even more tense when Big Brother announced yet another twist. Out of the five housemates up for nomination, one had the opportunity to be saved if they found the golden egg. JoJo Siwa was the lucky one – but of course, Big Brother had yet another twist in store.
After being saved, JoJo had to choose one housemate to replace her and face the vote, choosing Danny Beard after explaining how he needs to “read the room” when making jokes sometimes.
Tonight, it’s a mega eviction as three housemates will be shown the door just three days before the grand final as AJ Odudu and Will Best go live to the house once again.
