Andrew Scott reveals reason why he was rushed to hospital during SAG Awards

At the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles five years ago, actor Andrew Scott told a terrifying story about being struck down by a kidney stone.
The 48-year-old Irish actor was present at the prestigious event when he unexpectedly found himself “writhing in agony” and had to be taken to the hospital. Scott revealed that the condition left him both emotionally charged and in pain during a red carpet appearance at this year’s awards. “I was beside Phoebe]Waller-Bridge], and Laura Dern had just won Best Supporting Actress]for Marriage Story], and we were standing up”, he remembered.
He continued to describe the agonizing discomfort of kidney stones. “I don’t know if anyone has ever experienced having a kidney stone before, but it sends you… the pain is so immediate. I was in the back]of the room] writhing around in agony”. The actor then admitted during the live SAG Awards ceremony that paramedics had to rush him from the backstage to the hospital.

When probed about what happened next, Scott joked: “That’s too much. People don’t need to know about that. It was grisly”. For his role in Ripley on Netflix, Scott was in the running for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series. He faced stiff competition from Javier Bardem, Colin Farrell, Richard Gadd, and Kevin Kline, but ultimately lost out to Farrell for his performance in The Penguin.
Timothee Chalamet accepted his Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award on Sunday evening in related news as part of his desire to be recognized as one of “the greats.” The actor, 29, openly acknowledged that portraying Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown” would have been “classy,” while downplaying how important it would have been to receive the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role award. Yet, he openly acknowledged how he had “poured everything” into the role.

While accepting the accolade at Los Angeles ‘ Shrine Auditorium, he confessed: “Oh boy. I was not expecting this at all, truly”. He began his speech by expressing gratitude towards his mother: “I’ll start by thanking my mother, who I’m here with tonight. She has been working at actors ‘ equity for 40 years.
” I’ll quickly run through this. The most flattering way to minimize the effort put forth in this role and how much it means to me is the truth: this was my life’s five and a half years, and I gave it my all to play this legendary American hero, Mr. Bob Dylan. It was the honour of a lifetime, playing him. “
